With a full field of cars what's the maximum number of points one car can gain over another.

or...

If it was the first race of the year and there is a full field of 20, how many points will the winner of a feature be ahead of who ever finishes last.

edit:  I think I just figured it out and the answer is 9 points.  But I ain't sure.

The answer is 24. 30 to win the feature and 6 points for 20th plus any differences from the heat races which could be as much as 9.

Don't find that rumor believable!!!   Next week's race is Saturday, but the regular point season is over and high school football has started!!!   BTW on points, 30 to win the feature and 10 to win a heat race.

GOOD RACING TO ALL!!

That rumor was going around on some other tracks social media sites, but it was just people confusing the fact that they switch to Saturdays for their september shows which aren't 4 division point shows.

I watch sharon's car count in the sportsman ranks. Penn/Ohio rules, 29 cars. Smart move lernerville.

I take your point, however, only 4 of those cars were ever Lernerville regulars.  Most of Sharon's Pro Stock field races Friday nights at Raceway 7 or only Saturday nights at Sharon.  Most rarely raced at Lernerville when they had the opportunity, for whatever reason.

And Ill take your point...but with the tire, engine and chassis rule that was implemented at the time most of these cars would not have been legal. The way my chassis is now after being updated, same chassis I ran at Lernerville from 2010 to 2017, it would not have been legal either. Spoke with some drivers last night at Sharon and they said if Lernerville went to Penn Ohio rules theyd make the tow. That field of cars in the Pro Stock division at Lernerville would at the least double if they changed rules but unfortunately I dont see that ever happening and no use crying over spilled milk. The car count in the division will continue to dwindle and have the same drivers/cars winning races that have been the last few seasons.

I have no dog in this fight.  I liked the Pro Stocks when they had open motors, I liked the Pro Stocks when they mixed the open motors with the crates, I like the Pro Stocks with the crate motors, and I would be fine with the Pro Stocks going to Penn Ohio rules.  However, your point about the same drivers winning in this division at Lernerville is equally true at Sharon. There were 8 Pro Stock shows at Sharon with 5 different drivers winning, and when those driver weren't winning, they were in or near the top five almost every week.  There were 11 Pro Stock shows at Lernerville, once again with 5 different drivers winning, and when those drivers weren't winning, they were in or near the top five most weeks.  Point is, doesn't matter how many cars you have per week, and what rules one uses, the same drivers are going to be near the front every week.  And it's basically the same with any division.  While the car count is certainly less at Lernerville in the Pro Stocks, I personally don't believe the quality of the racing has suffered.  Just my opinion, and I've heard others on this forum saying otherwise.

Right on flash!!!  Frankly, the Pro-Stock field is more competitive than the Late Models!!  Most nights the Late Models only have 3 or 4 cars that have a real shot at winning unless the top drivers all have problems like happened with Brandon Wearing two weeks ago.   And I think one can blame it all on the cost of today's Late Model chassis!!   How many teams can afford a brand new Rocket chassis??

GOOD RACING TO ALL!!!

I make the comment on Lernerville's sportsman racing because I believe some of those that are no longer there have left the sport because of not having the opportunity to be heard. Foz, correct me if wrong, but weren't you guys thinking about hanging it up ? If I remember correctly many of the racers went to the Thomson family and voiced there feelings. The 73,64,55, green machine, shook all gone on a weekly basis and in those guys you had that were winners. Well everyone I just mentioned were winners, your numbers just doubled.

First of all, the race track owners make the rules, not the drivers.  If the drivers don't like the rules, they have every right to take their business elsewhere, which many have done.  The drivers were heard loud and clear, management didn't care to go along.  The Neil Tristani 73 car has not left the sport, it is now being driver by Jason Fosnaught, and Rob Shook in the 64 is also still racing on a weeky basis, just not at Lernerville.

Pro Stocks under Penn Ohio rules dont seem to be drawing at other tracks other than Sharon or tour races. Thunder Mountain, Hummingbird, PPMS, Latrobe all have been in single digits.

I think Benny K makes the point we all should look at.  Not big numbers at any local weekly track.  When I heard Latrobe was opening this year I thought gonna be pro stock heaven on saturdays.  has not happened.  One last point,  the pro stock racing at L'ville has been great this year for the people who stick around to watch it.  3 top tier cars can win any week from any starting spot and maybe 3 or 4 more with a good chance to win.

If you do the math, in 8 points races they averaged 25 - 26 cars this year. 28, 30, 27, 18, 28, 28, 16 and 29. The two lower car count nights Im pretty sure they were calling for bad weather and they had a few rainouts this year as well. Lernerville averaged 14 cars this year in 11 races. 4 cars have been competing for a win there. Terry Young was the only other one outside of those cars who won and he drove a helluva race from his 2nd starting position. Sharons payout is $700 for a full field of cars, Penn Ohio rules and no tire rule plus rotating Stocks in there running order. Lernerville is $350 no matter how many cars they get, crate engine only and a tire rule plus the Stocks are always ran last and have for years. Just a few reasons why there car counts are low and have been low. The argument of other tracks besides Sharon are having low car counts is complete BS...if the rules were the same as these other tracks for Stocks then Lernerville would get a very nice field of cars. Its been a premier track that people want to race at. The crate engine cars would still be just as competitive against open cars. Its been proven at Lernerville over the years. Its about giving the fans a good show and drivers another track to race at. Both are good from a business perspective. Nothing is going to change but Im just stating my opinion. Id love to race there still but I dont like the rules the way they are. I live about 20 minutes from there and still support the place as a fan but its disappointing to not be able to race there weekly with what I have now. I tried the crate engine stuff for a season and a half. It just didnt fit me well. Thats why I race elsewhere.

The "pro" stocks at Lernernville had 4 drivers with more than 1 feature win, and 1 driver with one win, but even more telling there were only 2 drivers outside of those 4 with top 3 finishes. Tell me again how much the racing hasn't dropped off.

My dad drove late models in the early 70's at North Hills, Butler, Mercer, Blanket Hill, and occasionally Tri City. We won the last late model track championship at Blanket Hill.

Interesting conversations on here and I miss the 'green' cars not being there to root for just knowing one would get a win !

Is the total points you could gain on another car then 40 as Waltt seems to be alluding too?

That seems like a lot to be able to gain on another car for a championship by either the other car breaking or maybe being taken out !

just seems like being able to gain 40 on another car in one race night ain't right????  I can't figure out the maximum you could gain from their site.
