Benny K. I think you where on the right track with a varied showcase class and added purse. You lost it all when you came up with the general admission dollars. Nobody is going to pay that for a local show I don't care what you pay out is.

I live in Delaware and general admission is $20 bucks at Bridgeport and New Egypt every week that's with only Mods as top class. If any of them add 360 sprints (wing or non wing) it's 25 bucks to get in. If any other western PA regional track would add big Blocks & 410s to their show they would be charging more than 20. Thunder Mountain was 18 for added Mods. The 20$ price would be just for shows running the big 3 classes and would only be every so often in the rotation.  The shows with just 2 of them would be regular admission.

Have you seen this place if Lernerville raises admission by a buck? Strokes would be had if they went to $20

I would drop the late models because that was the lowest attended class and take their pay out and split it between the sprints and mods.

 

Then open the stocks up to a 360 cubic inch open motor to get more cars.and run the 305 sprints

Then you can also cut their crowd size down by 1/3 for the people who just want to go see late models.

To me a good race does not involve big numbers. For instance, the sprints. Boycott? Those who boycotted where not missed racing wise. Fan wise maybe, but not show wise.  racing was great all year and didn't have to sit through b mains. late model races after Norris left were pretty good too other than they did seem to crash a lot more knowing they had a chance to win, but still good racing with just a few cars. Personally, I would rather see 10 cars put on a great race than 30 bore me to sleep. So, from a fans perspective, why change? Would like to see the stock rules opened up though.

Does what your saying about the WRG mean except for a few races there isn't any track getting a WRG date unless the WRG controls the gate and feels they will profit from the front gate.

 

No. It's a setup that's exclusive to Lernerville. Other exceptions to the norm happen at Charlotte, Volusia and Oswego. 

 

For the overwhelming majority of WRG sanctioned races, a track pays them a sanctioning fee and is on the hook for the entire purse for the the race. It's how the racing business has been done for decades.

I think there's good racing in all divisions including kart racing.

 

What fans in the stands want in addition to the great racing you and I enjoy watching is speed, the feel of hp you can get sitting in the stands and sorry to say many want the excitement of impending doom.  I strongly feel most through the front gate enjoy great racing but I also think it's the last three things I mentioned which put crowds in the stands.  Without the last three a track is not special and you can go anywhere to get your fill of "good racing". 

 

I think one of the thrills of being a Late Model fan is the sense of pure HP you can get from them watching from the stands.  With reduced car counts it limits drastically a late model fans ability to gain the feeling of HP out on the track.  I think reduced Late Model car counts has already taken away fans who like it or knowing it or not were there for the hp Late Models can display. 

 

I was at Eriez and they had a very good front gate crowd.  I like Eriez because it's a great place to watch a race but even Eriez with $300 to start wasn't able to put a full field of Late Models on the track.  The racing was fun to watch but numbers of good HP cars hurt the excitement of the Late Models the same as so few cars hurt the WoO show at Sharon.  Fun racing but the HP just wasn't there in enough quantity.

When I talked to them(WRG) about my automatic rainout credits for Volusia, they told me they had no control over ticket sales at Charlotte and I could not apply my credits from Volusia when I renewed my Charlotte tickets at Charlotte.       

 

 

edit:  I think I may have said the same thing you did but ain't sure.  Just take this last post as info only about Charlotte and I may be wrong about it.

The few nights that I saw, the latemodel wrecks had a relatively high rate of involvement with one car in particular. In honesty though, Kenny Schaltenbrand ran over his head a lot more than usual and set himself back quite a bit.

I have to disagree with your assumption that only the underfunded teams dont come because of the tire rule. Its anyone who wants to run more than one track. I totally disagree with tire rules, due to the fact that the TRACK IS PAID to run only these tires. In a way its smart business for the track, getting a lump sum from tire Mfg, and in a way it keeps some teams exclusive to Lernerville. But with the tires each year going up $10, its a bad idea for the racers they have no
choice but to pay to run.
