I think they are still figuring it out. They just got the sponsor and $$, because you know, why pay the drivers from what they bring in.

I guess I just have a problem with an injury lawyer seeming like a hero.

My dad drove late models in the early 70's at North Hills, Butler, Mercer, Blanket Hill, and occasionally Tri City. We won the last late model track championship at Blanket Hill.

30k total. 14 fab 4 nights get 2k each night. 2k gets put on points fund. That's breakdown. Does not say how the 2000 will be broken down in each division or maybe just one division and so on.

Fantastic they are adding $28,000 to the point fund finally catching up with 1st class tracks in the rest of the country.

I hope they put the money towards the back of the field or tow money attracting far more cars then if they would put it all on first place.

edit:  If they put the $28,000/$2000 a night onto say the sprint class or split it with 1st place across the board, they will be pissing their money away into the wind doing nothing.

If they think the added money is going to keep cars which can afford it or do it as if they were an actor looking for top roles, from traveling elsewhere rather then racing religiously at Lernerville instead of heading down the road for glory or maybe catching a ride with a top team, they again have their heads in the sand.

If there doing it to appease top local cars bitching about payout and saying they will tell the track to go screw if they don't jack up the payout, those locals can't afford to travel anyway and they still have their heads in the sand over it and local bitching.

The ONLY way to better the show is to increase car count be it top cars or cars which race towards the middle and back.

I read on here all the time about how FANS are there to watch GOOD racing.  Hey FANS what's the the difference if you watch your GOOD racing between 12 second cars or 19 second cars?

I'd much rather watch GOOD and GREAT racing between lesser funded 19 second cars that had to bust their asses in a B main to get into the feature, in the back during a full field of 24 winged sprint cars then full field of 19 second crate cars.

netting it out Lernerville if you throw $2000 onto 1st place in either of your top three classes it ain't going to do squat to bring in or keep cars that are bitching and moaning about payout.  THOSE WHO ARE GOING TO TRAVEL ARE GOING TO DO IT NO MATTER WHAT YOU PAY.  And those who ain't and are complaining to you are just throwing smoke at you because they ain't going anywhere anyway.  Didn't the last so called boycott prove my words?

Your only chance to bring in new racers is to take care of new racers >and< less funded racers.

Agreed, which is what hasn't been published yet. I would hope for money at every place, but that's me.

Who do you think pays the purses at Willliams Grove and Port Royal?  It's not just the owner, they have big time sponsors that help tremendously.  Secondly, Mr. DiLucente is not just an "injury lawyer" as you put it.  He is in the general practice of law, with many and varied clients. And God forbid, if some member of your family were killed by a drunken driver, I don't think you'd have a problem hiring an "inury lawyer."

I just realized I wrote about a payout increase and the original poster spoke about a points fund increase.

Good for them to increase the points fund any amount.  Will it bring in more cars on a weekly basis, IMO, no.

Two immediate thoughts: I wonder if this is a one year or multi year partnership. Reason I say that is, $30K is a lot of coin to come up with next year to maintain the purse and points fund. Or else does it revert back?

I’m also curious if the majority goes towards sprints given their “protests” this season or if it gets spread pretty evenly across all classes. I can see a lot of upset guys if they get overlooked in their eyes.

This will be an interesting winter!

Points funds are a reward for patronage. Great if you race there every week and all fans and racers need to say thank you.

IMHO it won't do a thing for car count but i'm glad to see it.

Thank you is all that needs said about it no matter how it's passed out.

Glad someone landed this gentleman. Let's all hope they use it wisely. I hope, in my personal view, some sprint teams get docked a week or 2 of points. Before anyone gets all blown out of shape. They could have sat down with ownership and all parties could have worked to come up with options instead of penalizing the customers,

Guidelines

$2,000 will be provided for additional purse money to be split equally between two of the four divisions ($1,000) for each division, to be awarded equally to drivers who finish in the top ten of their main event at $100.00 each position.
The two divisions that receive the additional purse money will be determined by a pill draw which will take place after all heat races and before all main events take place.
The pill draw will be done by the sponsor of the program or his designee.
In the event that a division is drawn three races in a row, another pill draw will occur and that division will split the $1,000 with the third division 50/50. Each of those divisions will receive $500 to be awarded equally to each of the first ten feature finishers in the amount of $50.
Any division which receives an award of Pad the Purse money three races in a row in any amount goes back to zero for the next race and the “three in a row” determination will resume.
If there are less than ten feature finishers as determined by track rules, the Pad the Purse money which would have been awarded to the nonexistent finishers will be moved into the annual points fund and divided per the rules described below.
If a rain out occurs, and the rained out race is not made up, the $2,000 designated for that race will be moved into the annual points fund and divided per the rules described below.
Points Fund Guidelines

$2,000 will be added to the points fund, divided equally among all four divisions ($500 for each division), then awarded equally among the top ten finishers at $50 dollars each.
Any money moved into the points fund from the Fab4 races will be divided equally among all four divisions and then divided equally among the top ten finishers of each division.
All drivers participating in the Pad the Purse program are required to place a track approved sponsor sticker on the race car.

We would like to officially welcome Phil DiLucente to our racing family at The Action Track and thank him for his commitment which will help racers earn more in 2020. That's precisely what did happen and that has assisted in this happening.

Oh ya !
Have his money back real quick !
But he will sponsor the place for a couple years and see if he gets any clients then decide to continue or not
30k is pocket change compared to what the Ambulance chasers spend on TV
Most likely get a clien from falling through the heidleburgh bleachers in Imperial !
But money being added to racing is great even if it was the profession that stole every lawyer joke ..Journalism !
Mr D has a very good record
I would hire him

Is it a crock of shit because it's "only" $100 each for 20 guys a night?  If it was $200 each would it be a crock of shit because it was only for 10 guys a night?  If it was $500 for 4 guys?  $1000 for 2 guys?  $2000 for one guy?

The track and the sponsor agreed upon how the money would be distributed.  If you have a better way, I'm sure they would work with you on how you'd like to dole out the $30,000 you contribute.

If at first you don't succeed, then maybe you just suck.

This is an interesting topic because last week guys were arguing over the Stampede fees and start money and most guys said who the heck looks at start money guys are coming for the winner’s share. Now guys are either saying an extra $100 which is essentially added start money is or is not a big deal if the winner’s share stays the same. Me personally I would have added static weekly money to all 4 divisions around the top 5 positions and see if that brought more cars, especially sprints, but it’s not my $30K
