SOMEBODY CREATE A CLASS WITH A REASONABLY PRICED MOTOR WITH ABOUT 800 HP FOR THE BIG THREE, SO RACING CAN SURVIVE FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS? WE ARE NOT LUCAS, WOO, OR ANY OTHER BIG TIME SERIES, SO WHY DO WE FOLLOW LIKE SHEEP FOR ONE RACE A YEAR?
Until that happens build a 358 for that LM and head to Thunder Mountain and Hummingbird and have some fun in one of the fastest growing classes in the area.

And the one with the most yellows and wasted time. No thanks. I'd rather watch Barbie Jeeps for God's sake.

With SLM racing, you know as well as I that motors are only half of the equation. You can thank those that cater to big time SLM racing for that. As far as Sprints and Modifieds are concerned, regional teams on a budget can still be competitive for much less than WoO, ASCoC and Central Pa. for 410's and E. Pa., NJ, Delaware and NY for Modifieds. How long that will continue to be the case is anyone's guess.

You folks who want specials only racing may be getting your wish. Too many specials and sanctioning bodies is what has diminished the weekly programs. I get it that specials pay far more money than weekly shows, but situation is akin to Wal-Mart putting all of the mom and pop stores out of business. I still enjoy the weekly shows because the formats are far better. I get very tired of seeing the fastest cars starting up from all evening at a special event. Often makes for pretty boring racing.

something needs done, and the racer should have no say....we are the ones who ruin everything....some things start out good, and we f it up. tracks need to stick to their guns and not give in...as skull said, it's not just motors now, hell you need a shock guy to just know what to do with all that knowledge. i don't have the money to get brian daugherty's help from integra. new era, but why do we follow the biggest monies rules, local racing needs to forget them. guys with money will still race with them when they come. help the little guy a bit, or average joe....which is about 80 percent of the field.

but as you said, people are now passing on weekly shows for specials.....we should be worring about the opposite. big shows will always be there, but will weekly support grow....or how to do that.....?

I love weekly racing. Most regional specials are specials in name only. I agree with Flash, I do not like the formats that the touring groups use. Their qualifying formats cater to the teams that support them. As far as what will salvage weekly racing, I don't know. But, the big guns that support the alphabet sanctioning bodies are going to have to be the ones that implement any real reforms that make SLM racing more affordable. I don't know if that will ever happen.

Racer mentality, understandably, always wanting to be faster, squeeze a little more out of the car. Then it gets out of hand. I'm not sure that you can stop it, or roll it back. The entry classes at some tracks are more dedicated racecar than the headliners once were.
My dad drove late models in the early 70's at North Hills, Butler, Mercer, Blanket Hill, and occasionally Tri City. We won the last late model track championship at Blanket Hill.

94.3 thank you. This is coming from a racer, not a keyboard jockey that thinks he has all the answers. Tech passed me by long time ago. I still sit in the pits because I was there more years than I can remember. I still stroll through the pits on occassion. I said long ago they needed to roll back what was going on with the shocks. Here is a guy that has understood that today's cars need a knowledgeable shock guy on a concierge deal to figure out what to do. I keep hearing go back to the bodies of years past. You can have all the HP you want. If you got the wrong valving in those shocks your going nowhere. Bring back the Monroe matic, if racers had to bolt something like that on I would pay to go watch.

I like the idea, but how do you get there from here? More fans than I like to admit are there for speed, and wrecks, especially if the wrecks are at speed.

Fan Jim, therein lyes the problem. Promotors caused this because they cannot agree on a set rule for all to follow. So what was created ? Rush, Fastrack and more dependent on class.
If promotors stood strong and had said, that left rear shock has to go back to where it was, or that a car can only have 4 shocks and 4 springs. We'd be in a happier place. Me personally I never would have let the 4 bar rear suspension come into play. How about a 3 link ? You wouldn't see the LR catching as much air as possible, 39"is a joke ontrack under power.
None of this is ever going to happen. But if promotors don't stop technology racing will die. Sprint cars are dinosaurs as far as chassis development. But we all love them. Big Block mods used to be the kings of technology with air and bodies. SLM have taken that to the next step.
What do all 3 of those classes have in common that is a hi ticket item. Motors #1 and shocks running a close second. Why shocks ? Because as 94.3 said, unless you can pay for that guy who understands every move that shock makes and what to do to correct the issue. Your just spinning your wheels.

People have won championships against shock rocket scientists and nasa with shelf purchased Bilstein
shocks !!
Ask Justin lamb ! And the guy who won the Fastrack Championship
Your crying because you lost and your blaming the wind !
Racing is the Ultimate display of Capitalism and it shows by the losers endlessly crying Foul its not fair !
Promoters set the rules ... and it sucks bigtime that they change them allot .. BUT its the same for everybody... and the same winners keep coming to the top and the same losers keep crying foul! Just like life !
Walt talked about 1958 first race ...
If he found his pants from that night under the bed and it had 4 1958 Quarters in the pocket
He could buy his way into the stands and buy two beers with those 4 Silver Quarters this summer !!
Racing isnt expensive
Your money is worthless!
You already have the best thing to get racing back and he is steering the ship back to a GOLD STANDARD of Money
Yes people come to the races to see the thrill of putting it on the line for Glory or catastrophe ! Just like life!
And its been that way since the first race !
Who wants to watch a bunch of slow cars with passengers
Would be better to get a 6 Pack and sit by the parkway
Racing is beat down just like America
Some of You sound just like the worst President ever
Quote:These jobs arent coming back
Well JOBS ARE BACK !
Fake news doesnt cover racing unless somebody almost gets killed ?
Put them out of business ! Turn them off ! Unless they are on rabbit ears !
Put an antenna on your Tv for watching the networks ( if you are so addicted you cant help yourself ) ..so they get no credit from your $250 cable bill .
And never turn your cable channel on 2 4 or11
Ever notice your fake newspaper is becoming the size of a matchbook
Thats because nobody buys them anymore except the generation that voted us into this disaster of an almost destroyed country
