It's a waste of time and effort trying to talk sense with him. You can tell him you understand, that you may, in fact agree with him at times. But he'll just prattle on and on like a bunch of old women at bingo. True definition of a control freak is one who consistently grinds over situations and issues of which they have little to no control over.
