Its gonna be more like 20 degrees with the dirt

Agreed.  I'd imagine they'd try to take some of the banking out using the dirt.

Back at the 1st Bristol with dirt the paved banking was 36 degrees and if i remember correctly the banking with the dirt was limited to 27 degrees because the dirt wouldn't stay up there any higher than that ? The story back then of why dirt wasn't added every year after the experiment was because late models and sprints were turning their lap times so much faster than Cup cars that it was an embarrassment to see their lap times running  so much slower. Now with the  tracks grasping at straws trying to make anything work to get interest back in the sport after it was ruined by the playoffs and other carnival side show type of gimmicks is why the venture back to dirt now to fill the stands back up.

There never going to fill the stands. That ship sailed long time ago. Nascar got away from what made them so popular and they are going to try to put the cup cars on dirt. Great idea I think and the first one will probably bring fans in, to watch the sprints and slm. Bristol is the wrong track for the cup cars. There are other tracks which I think would have been a much better venue. Martinsville, I believe would have been the place to have it.

A few days ago I read a interview with the guy from Bristol speedway that's in charge of the track. He stated that the banking will be at 18 degrees. He said that the last time it had dirt on, it was 24 or 27 degrees. He said that the track was redone since it was dirt the last time and the angle of the outside wall has changed where it meets the track surface. 18 degrees will keep it at the correct angle to keep the cars inside the track if impacted by one of the cars. He stated that is the reason, not to slow the cars down, it's to prevent cars from getting launched into the catch fence. I can't remember where I read it. Possible on Dirt on Dirt Maybe.
