The problem is that in July or August, there are many, many big-paying late model races throughout the country, and it would be next to impossible to find a date where the major sanctioning groups are not running. Add do that the price of gas getting higher, you'd have to depend more on local fans, and the steep prices you quote would not be met favorably by many of them.
