No offense meant whatsoever, Im genuinely curious, but who are you that you can just ring up Bobby Allison and Richard Petty on the horn?

When you own a chuck of NASCAR history like this big red truck... it opens doors.  I called Bobby in 2004 when I bought the truck and we talked on the phone for about 10 minutes.  I asked him if he had pics of the hauler and he laughed at me saying: "No one took pics of the trucks... it was always about the cars, always about the cars".   I saw him again in Charlotte at a race promo and we talked again... his biz card is pinned to the office wall.  He said don't give this number out LOL.

I do not have Petty's phone number but life is all about doing things and the flip side would be sitting on a couch doing nothing.   Petty's aunt lived 4 houses down the road from me as a child and Petty would stop in when ever he was near the area ( she probably made good cookies )...  so this big light blue truck parked in her drive way was a clue he was there.  Fairly sure I could have Petty's phone number in 24 hours if I needed it.  But my research doesn't point to Petty, at least not at this time.

I once carried Stylvester Stalones golf bag when I parked cars at a fancy hotel in South Carolina... and drove ZZTop around for a day in the hotels Lincoln Town car when they were in town.  Been a normal life other than that :)

UPDATE:  Found a new prior owner in McClure Ford out of Troy Pa.  While being owned by Al McClure...  modified racing champion Geoff Bodine used the hauler briefly at the Shangri-La racetrack.  The McClure's bought the hauler out of Richmond Va in 1973 but they can't recall who they bought it from.

Waiting on a paper VIN request to be returned from the Richmond MVA.  Fingers crossed it will have some info as the trail has gone cold.

Truck was Red Metalflake when Peck got it

Who installed the wall to wall red shag carpet all over the truck's interior...?   Ceiling and door panels all are red shag carpet...  very retro.

Any luck finding a photo of the old hauler ....?  Thanks.

Hey there how's the "digging" going on your shoe box of photos...?

I've been digging around in the Richmond area and found out my truck was used by "Rapid Ray Hendrick" for 2 years.  About to publish a video history of open haulers and still seeking photos of my hauler back in the day.

When I was talking to Cale Yarborough this morning, Donnie Allison beeped in on the other line to ask me if I called it stuffing or filling.  While I had him on the line I asked him about this hauler.  He said Bodine thanked him for putting in the shag carpet - super comfy to sleep bare-ass on.  Donnie used to install flooring during the week and had some leftover that happened to match the theme.  Bobby said, "Knock yourself out."

You've got me trying to catch my breath that was so funny JohnnyHiddo..!   I will up your serving of humor with some eye candy...

Best viewed with really banging stereo speakers and popcorn.  Special thanks to all the neighborhood youth who helped me get the big rig cleaned up...
