First Time Winners Yenser, Dennis, Hole, and Nuss Dominate A-Mains at Waynesfield this Saturday. Some days you just feel good at the racetrack. This past Saturday was one of them. With each of the winners being their first time to visit victory lane at Waynesfield things in the world just made sense. Seeing the excitement of each of our winner’s faces in victory lane was the medicine that our fans, teams and employees needed. First up Saturday evening were the Mini-Sprints and with Jared Horstman, Josh Yenser, and Chris Smalley picking up the heat race wins the field was set. With an invert of three drawn from the pill bucket that then put Chris Smalley and Josh Yenser on the front row for the feature Saturday. Taking the early lead was Yenser then four laps later the yellow came out for Jared Horstman who spun on the front stretch just off of the racing surface. The top-five at the time were Josh Yenser, Chris Smalley, Hud Horton, Todd Keen, and Jon Contrell. Three laps later caution would come out again when Devon Dobie and Brandon Williams got together in turn two handing Devon a flat right rear. The only change in the top-five was Hud Horton moving into second. At the drop of the green flag Yenser and Horton drove away from the field with Horstman, after starting at the tail making a mad dash up towards the front. Even with the pressure of the much more experienced Horton, Josh Yenser held on for his first win at Waynesfield. Third through fifth were Todd Keen, Chris Smalley, and Jon Contrell. Next up for the night would be the Non-Wing Sprints and taking prelim victory was Kyle Simon, Steve Simon, Dustin Smith, and Jon Nelson. Starting on the front row for this race figured out to be Ron Dennis and Lee Stark. Shooting out to an early lead would be the 32 of Ron Dennis with fellow Kokomo, In native Dustin Smith following. As the laps clicked off the Smith machine began to reel the leader in with two and three wide racing all around the track behind the leaders. Ten laps into the feature contact between Jamie Frederickson and Mike Brecht caused the Brecht machine to stop on the track bringing out the yellow for the first time. The top-five cars were Ron Dennis, Dustin Smith, Lee Stark, Jon Nelson, and Cody White. Just after the green came back out the battle for third became a battle with Stark, Nelson and White side by side for several laps; just after that though Stark’s right front was flat sending him pitside. In the end no one had anything for Ron Dennis with Dustin Smith, Cody White, Johnny Heydenreich, and Corey Smith rounding out the top-five. The Modifieds came on the speedway next and it was Chad Rosenbeck and Josh Scott taking the ten lap races early on in the night. Starting on the front row for the feature this night was Brian Post and Brent Hole. With Brian Post taking the early lead and Brent Hole right behind as they both left the rest of the field far behind we were all looking at what could be our third first time winner for the evening with both drivers. Six laps in though the bad luck that has plagued the Post machine came back up as he stopped in turn four with no power. The top-five was now Brent Hole, Mike Free, Steve Duty, Jon Henry, and Chris Ullery. On the restart the battle for second got real hot with Free, Henry, and Duty going for it wanting to be the first person the pass Hole for the lead. Thirteen laps in just after Henry took second away, Chris Ullery spun in four collecting Chad Rosenbeck and Jeremy Grover bringing the yellow out again. The top-five at this time featured Brent Hole, Jon Henry, Mike Free, Steve Duty, and Bill Keeler who caught fire during his heat race. When the green came back out Jon Henry began to hound the leader wanting that third win of the year at Waynesfield but it was not enough as Brent Hole held on for the win with Henry in second and then Steve Duty, Nick Roslett, and Mike Free in the top-five. Final feature for the evening were the Trucks and disappointing they never are. Taking heat race honors on this evening were Jerry Sawmiller, Eric Sutter, and Mike Hicks. Seeing Gabe Twining and Sam Casey on the front row of the feature gave us all two new people toward the front trying to continue the first time winning for the event. Mick Hicks wouldn’t allow it though as he took the early lead going for the feature win. The 26 of Jessica Nuss was moving forward and took the lead but the move was negated when the caution came out for Bill Van Dyke running over the 13 of Eric Sutter leaving Eric with a flat right rear. The top-five as of this point were Mike Hicks, Jessica Nuss, “Fat” Matt Twining, Scott “Rev Limiter” Fisher, and Randy Crossley. On the restart the Hicks machine took a huge lead but after a few laps our own first lady Jessica and a “Fat” Matt began to reel him in. With just three laps to go Jessica once again took the lead and never looked back. There were no cautions to slow her down this time for a very emotional victory for the 17 year old young woman. The rest of the top-five were Mick Hicks, “Fat” Matt Twining, Scott “Rev Limiter” Fisher, and Randy Crossley. :( Why would you thank an enging builder if these are to be STOCK engines. The same thing went on Friday night at Limaland after the feature win I would like to thank my engine builder. Maybe someone should get a Ed Pink motor and have it built stock also. I thought after the hole blow up with that OGER dude and his iron duke that all motors were to remain totaly stock. Some of these people have more money in a four cylinder truck then a stock car engine.

You would thank an engine builder when you yourself don't really know alot about engines. Whether it's changing head gaskets or cutting down a head because it got too hot and warped. I myself, do not have a milling machine in my house to be able to do that type of work. Do You? Those are a few of the reasons that someone just might thank an engine builder. Sometimes there are people who are thrown into this sport without all the knowledge that you seem to posses!!!

Yea....me too. I don't know much about engines but I try to drive. At the time that Iron Duke was put into my truck I was a co-owner. I told the main owner that the stock 2.5 just didn't have that little zip off the corner that I was lacking but I could out-handle the Ford's by along shot. Well he invested in the Duke and there you have it. When I had the Iron Duke engine it was because the rules read "stock appearing" engine and at that time it was legal because the side of the block had 2.5 GM cast right in it and on the outside the engine looked stock. With the exception of the intake manifold needed to be fabbed up. The Dukes are easy to tell because the intake and exhaust are on the same side. Now...if you opened that engine up it was nowhere near stock on the top end. The current rules say "Stock only" engine....which is intended to mean totally stock but WMP doesn;t really have a way to police that so they simply use the claim rule to compensate for that. This whole thing started to get out of hand when the Iron Duke was brought out and I wish that we could take that back but we can't. I know that if it weren't me introducing the "gray area" then it would've been someone else doing it.....that's racing =) At least I can feel comfort in being honest and stating the truth in what I was doing whether it was right or wrong. I can do this because this is my last season racing trucks and I wish everyone all the best!!! There are some good up and coming drivers in this class and they'll be heard elsewhere.....Hicks...Nuss....Fisher. Then there are some old timers that keep plugging away because it's what they love to do.....Keysor...Harmon......Crossley.

Well yes I do I also have a mill and a lathy, Tig and mig welders and alot of other machinery. And the only reason you deck a block and heads is to decress the cc in the chambers. in which incresses the compression ratio and that is where you start making your power. Then you add a aluminum intake a different cam and bingo you have a stock engine. Oh maybe some bigger valves different springs and tell everybody its still stock. What showes is when you start pulling almost every body so bad down the front streach. Friday at lima standing at the fence you could tell the stock motors over the ones that have been built. Maybe some people should run mufflers to tone them down alittle. But ask everybody in the class and they all will say they are stock yea right. That would be the stock car class saying they are stock when you have engins being built by (Kalvinator, Hampshire) and many other shops. I bet you ask them and they say they are stock also. I hope who ever take over the track next year at Waynesfield gets some teck involved in all the classes. I for one knew of two stock car teams this year with 4 bbl carburetors on them. I know there is trucks running racing springs all the way around on them trucks. People just watch the next time the track gets ruff watch the ones that bounce and the ones that glide thru the ruff stuff and the suspension does all the work!!!!!!!!!!! But they are stock also. dscott....I could deck your head but I don't think you could get the head gasket to seal if I use my 4 1 /2" grinder..........lol. If something ever happened to my engine I would have to go to an engine guy like Kalvinator, Hampshire, Fast Racing Engines or one of the other reputable engine builders also simply because I don't and never have torn an engine apart. I can tune a carb but can't tear an engine apart =) Pretty sad but it's true.....lol I was just glad to see some new blood win Saturday night and Jessica deserves a win after the last year that she's had on and off the track!!

ogre with todays racing very few people do work on their motors, they usually have a problem they take em out and send to a shop. the old days with sprinters many a guy would bring them to the track, set the timing and many others things. a lot of your low budget teams do still work on their motors because they dont have the money to take them to a shop. there are proably a lot a people like you that just dont work on their motors. you might do simple tunning but thats about it.

WOW Ogre, you didnt mention my name in the up and coming drivers.....So either I suck or
you just forgot me.After the hand shake you gave me after the feature sat I dont think you forgot me!
But thats ok not all rookies win but this rookie tries his butt off each and every week.I figure if I keep trying somethin good has to happen eventually. As for Jessy's motor.....does it really matter, the girl
tries her butt off.Her truck doesnt sound like a V8 like afew other trucks do. She and her uncle are good people and her uncle is doing his best to help her with the truck. We all know people are going to push rules thats the way it is, every little edge you can get you take .I dont like being in the back all the time, but thats all I can afford to do.I have fun and enjoy every lap thats what matters to me,not who's legal and who's not legal.Or who can build a motor or who cant.I still hate to see you leave Ogre but, I do thank you for all the help and advice you've given me.Until WMP enforces the rules it comes down to who ever has the most money and knowledge wins.It is... that simple!

Yeah, I would like to be an up and comer too. I have had a 4th and a 3rd the last 2 outings at WMP. My dad the "WEASEL", of Weasel Racing does all the motor work in his garage for me and my brother Gabe. He keeps us rolling and we are luckiest. If not for him we wouldn't be able to afford racing the trucks. Motor shops are out of our price range. I am a rookie this year and we have blown 4 motors looking to be racey. My truck has finished 4 races at WMP and the one at Limaland. It's been tough to go though that, but we have had a blast this year. The trucks are what they are, run what you brung. Congrats to Jessica this week, I for one shook her hand. Hope to have a good finish in the next two at WMP. By the way, the trucks have the best teams to race against.

Grandstand-fan I think WMP made a statement about the 3-4th week into the season that basically they aren't going to tech engines( by handing out flyers that told of their engine claim rule.) By doing that I have assumed that the engine rule is stock appearing. Like it used to be when they started the class. As far as you saying that some trucks pulling others down the straights, handling has a lot to do with that, if a truck is loose or tight through the corners you'll get passed like your setting still by a truck that is nuetral. I doubt that there is a truck that runs at WMP that is totally legal if you go by the so called stock rule. Some have a little done to them, some more than others, but I'll bet every one of them have something illegal on them ,some are running engines that have 150,000 miles on them, but at least they are doing what they love to do. Truck 5s said a mouthful he's trying his butt off and trying to learn ,thats what racing is about, Iv'e been involved in racing for about 14 years I help with a Mod and built a truck to race for my boys because it's what I can afford, and I try to learn something new every week and most of the time do. By the way race springs are legal on the right front, besides springs aren't what make the trucks glide through the corners, shocks are, and racing shocks are legal and can be picked up used for $5-$15 each at swap meets. Also if you set the truck up right the suppension should do all the work. I used to coach baseball and soccer and Refeered soccer and these are the same comments you heard from the fans and parents in the stands. They always knew everything about coaching and refeering that is until you asked them to get involved then all of a sudden they disappeared. Put up or shut up ,build a truck, and if you think someone has a better engine than you claim it , put it in YOUR truck and you'll find out its not all in the engine but the way you drive and make it handle.

Racer 50 this is BTI 8c or Brad conover for those who don't know me. I'm here to tell you that I know who is grandstand fan is and he is a coach not a person in the stands. This person knows what he's talking about, knows his setups understands shocks, springs and other things that make it go around a track. he under stands motors and what it takes to build power. I'm not on his side but I would like to say This person is no dummy and you won't find him in the stands that often. Hes in the pits alot looking at all makes & modles. I think the point he is getting at is if its a warped head why not take it to the local garage have the head worked & slap it back together with a book from any local parts store it showes you step by step on how to do it. and as for taking it to a engine builder there is only one reason & that is they know how to build power. If its money or lack of for alot of people they will try it them self or maybe ask your local garage people alot of questions. But the reason why we take our motor to the engine builder is were looking to get one up on the next person and that is to get all the power we can get on other person no other reason bottom line. now my 2 cents and don't beat me up to bad on this, but if your taking your engine to one of the engine builders that was named above you have some good parts in them hog's like the higher lift cams, better pistons, bigger valves, gasket matched port & polished. Then they bring the truck to Tim & I then we work on the rest of the truck to get thru the corners better. Its all one big game we all play. You want to go fast and be on top take your wallet not to the local garage but to the ones that build this stuf for a living thats all it takes. now like I said go easy on me. :(   :o <_<  :P   ;)

Oh boy............. Tom, I'm sorry I didn't mention you but yes you have done an excellent job this season. You have impressed me for being a rookie this season. I respect everytrhing that you've done this season on and off the track. Everyone has made mistakes but it's how you recover from those mistakes that make you respected and you've done that. I've had fun racing with you this season and I'll be glad to help you out anytime in the future. FatMatt. The entire Twining bunch has really picked up their game from mid season on. Whatever you guys have found has been great. I haven't gotten to talk to you much but I have raced door to door with you on the track and again...you do a great job there. You guys seem to have a lot of fun and I wish it was still that way for me but somehow I've lost that. You guys are a true threat right now and should be considered such!! As for Jessica.....I've never once said anything on here that would lead any thoughts that she is doing what she does on money or engine alone. Let's face it the girl can drive. She's proven herself in karts and now she's earning the respect of others in the truck class. She will continue to build her skills and be a strong competitor in this class or whatever class she runs in. My true respect goes out to her for everything that she's went through this season and how she's delt with it and still had a smile on her face. That is an inspiration in itself!!!!! I did enjoy racing in the truck class but now with the addition of another child and my kids starting to play sports and other activities....it's time to be a dad. I have a son that is 12 years old, daughter that will be 2 in September and our new addition...a son that is 2 months. I enjoy being a dad more than racing in life right now. I might make a couple of appearances next season but not full time at all. Thanks to everyone in racing for making my years of racing enjoyable!!!!!!!!!

Hey that #18 truck is cheating also.......lol just kidding Tim.

You know it's hard to just pick 3 or 4 people that have improved because this season the entire class has improved. Tim I know that you used to struggle with blown engines and crashes and not look at you....you're fast man!

In no way is there anyone that stands out above another in this class.....anyone can win in this class and the neat thing is that we generally deal with our own problems before they escalate too far. For instance......I got into Tim at Lima on Friday and instead of talking to him on Friday....i let him cool down a little and I talked to him Saturday and I think he understands. I think that most of you know by now that I'll be the first to let you know when I make a mistake...and boy have I made a few this season. This truly has been my worst season yet in my decision making and that's part of the reason that I've decided to hang it up after the season.

Look at any of the trucks in the top 15 in points and they have all stepped up their game and that's why it's been tough this season........but it's great for the crowd and that's what we're after.

Thanks for being understanding Tim.

Brad; My point is WMP is not going tech any of the class', thats why if you drive a sprint you can run a 305, 360 , 410 or a 572 big block if you want to, even two seaters. The trucks must run a 4 cyl engine thats about the end of the engine rule. I think most of the truck racers understand that. Some people have more money to put into an engine than others, but how much money can you spend when the pay out is $170 to win. This is an entry level class ,some race in it to get started racing and will eventually move into a higher class, others race in it because its what they can afford. The biggest thing is I really don't hear most of the truck racers on here complaining about the other truck racers engines, but this is the second post byGrandstand-fan that doesen't race a truck, stiring the pot. It was no different when we ran karts or now with a mod or truck its a lot of fun to beat those cubic $ engines. We have $800 in ours rebuilt over the winter.

I think everyone is legal this year, I say this because everyone has passed every tech inspection. We could go twenty different ways with the engine rules for next year. It comes down to what wmp wants to do. I do think that there needs to be some sort of tech going on next year or I think the class is going to be totally out of control. I don't know the answer, and with all the different makes of trucks and engines I think its a tuffy. Maybe we should be able to run different make engines in the trucks, maybe I could us a ford engine in a chevy truck(some would say thats a sin). I also would like to say congrats th Sam kasey in the 19k truck. He is running a bone stock 200,000 mile engine in his truck. He ran great at limaland missing the show by one, and then ran 7th sat at wmp. Pretty impressive for a rookie with a true stock engine.

Hay this is Brad but I 'm on Tim's user name. The real question should be not about the teck but will any one have a track to run at next year? Andy has all ready signed another track to run next year and will Cub be able to do it on his own? And also Eldora is talking about crate motors for the stocks. What about the little guy that is out there know's he dosent have a chance to win but is having a ball driving a car now your gona tell him he must buy a crate motor at the cost of several big dollars or don't come back. I think they need to take a better look at this one it wont even the field the guys up front will work on setups and alot better shocks to get the upper edge again. There no end to the cycle last week Eldora had 40 cars wheres the problem at ? 40 cars Lima and Waynesfield would love to get that many cars in one night. So what happened to the statement if it's not broke don't fix it. If they wan't to get rid of the class gust grow a set and tell everone that the class is no longer wanted at your track. Wake up Larry and smell the morring air ( I thik he fell and bumped his little head)
