In Topic: Sharon Speedway June 14 FREE Fan Appreciation Night preview

I was going to reply, free admission, but then what will keyboard cowboys bitch about, then I read the thread.  Nevermind.

So let's recap, according to racestud, Blaneys/Wellers are ruining Sharon, WRG is running Lernerville into the ground, Altman is destroying what Vicki built and Matt Miley just wants to make money and doesn't care about the track or drivers, unless your his favorite and then you get preferential treatment.

But said keyboard cowboys go week after week after week.  Yeah, makes sense.  If these ownership groups didn't put their hearts and souls into this local tracks, then what would you bitch about and to who?

I think it's a great gesture by both tracks and will probably flip a coin to determine where i'll go.  The cool thing to do would be to go to Sharon for free and mail a check to Scott Bonnell next week thanking him for what he does to support local racing and this charity organization.

But, you know, instead, just keep bashing everyone on a message board and take out your pathetic life on people trying to build the sport and fanbase up, while you keep trying to tear it down.

Who is this Altobelli guy? Did Dow say he was a Bedford or Bradford guy?  I thought for a minute maybe Dave Satterlee was back!

Good night for Chuck Sarver, his wife should sing the anthem more often.

In Topic: Mercer racing June 27th ... please ?

14 June 2014 - 01:01 AM

Wayne County closed to support Ohio sprint speed week.  Lernerville out of sight on their prices.

I'd love to see Mercer run a race Friday the 27th with reduced pit gate maybe $25 and regular Saturday fan gate prices.  Run Sprints, 358 Big Blocks, Sprint Warriors and Stocks.  I think both the pits and the stands would be jammed.  Please give us somewhere between the high priced Lernerville and Raceway7 to go watch a race. It's a happening waiting to happen.  I think a short notice, hey come race and pass the word around would fill the place.

If you're so confident, I'm sure Bill would lease the track to you for the night to give it a shot!  Lernerville is high priced?  For $70 you get three nights of racing, two nights with a pit pass.  That's less than $25 a night, to see the best Late Model drivers in the country run a 100 lap feature and everyone else run a 30 lap feature.  Instead, you think people will pay $25 to see a regular show in Mercer and that word of mouth will pack the pits and stands?!  You don't get out much, do you?

In Topic: Francis Sesco

The kid is a menace on the racetrack. He has only marginally improved over last year. He holds a line better now, but it appears as if he tries to block many times when better cars are trying to pass him. He is still wildly inconsistent and my hope is that he "gets it" before he causes another driver to get hurt.

As far as tonight is concerned, I saw Sesco and the #52, Jim Shuster, tangle just past the entrance to the infield at the exit of turn 2 where the cars enter to scale after the feature. Sesco exited his car, stormed to the #52, and after saying his piece, threw right after right into the cockpit. Probably a good 6 to 8 shots before he was forced back to his car. I was told by my buddy that Shuster drove into him there, obviously well after the race was over. I did not see what angered Jim Shuster during the feature.

I understand there is going to be retribution when you are dumped, especially after the race is over. I'm sure that will enter in to any disciplinary action that might be taken. If It was my call, I'd give both a week off to be fair and tell them to cease and desist, or the next time they can tow out to central Pa. or Ohio to race on Fridays.

I respectfully disagree.  I think Sesco has improved tremendously from last year and that this was an isolated incident.  He's come a long way from being DQed for multiple cautions most weeks.  He's calmed down, holds his line and is there every week.  Does he have room to improve?  Absolutely, but I think you forget how much of a squirrel he was last year.

I think tonight was an isolated incident.  I think hitting the cone pissed him off, he and Shuster exhanged right rears and he let his anger get the best of him.  Definitely deserves a week in the stands, but I think he'll learn from it and come back stronger for it.

How about Brian Stivenson tonight.  I thought for a minute early in the race that maybe he tagged in Chris Schneider for the night and then Mark Sanders got his first win.  No disrespect to Corey and Jimmy, but it's nice to see someone else win once in a while.
