It brought goosebumps as I was walking up to the ticket booth to see my childhood racetrack roar back to life! Everyone in the grandstands had a cheerful spirit and friendly demeanor throughout the night. The food lines were long as the staff was trying to keep up with the demand for fans and many menu items were sold out. The staff was very friendly and caring, even going out of their way to get me items that weren't under the heat lamps. The food and ticket prices are on par with any other track in the region and maybe even a tad cheaper too. It was a nice gesture to receive a Tri-City Raceway Park can coozie as I walked through the gates. The crew did a nice job repainting exposed surfaces and the orange on the guard rail is sure to become a signature backdrop for the track. They really spruced the place up even staining some of the grandstands as well and painting the hand railings. The racing surface stayed together decently through the night and they weren't afraid to add water during the heats to keep the dust down. Even though hot laps didn't start until after 6, because track prep took longer than expected, the racing was very good. With more races comes more experience from the track prep crew and I know they won't disappoint. Overall, I give them an A rating for a job well done!

I tend to be neutral on Kevin. Back in the day, he won a lot of races at Tri-City, Lernerville, and Sharon. It was exciting watching him, Del Rougeaux Jr., Rex King Sr., Andy Priest, and Joe Crawford battle for the win. I don't know what Kevin was doing to his car, but once he got out front, he would pull away from the field. His car was considerably quieter than the rest and he was so smooth on the dry slick track.
