#433437 LATE MODEL car counts

Posted by LM RACING on 05 September 2017 - 08:14 AM

Potomac had 12 lates for the 4 grand to win show

That seems to be happening too often now days. None of the tracks on the same page for their dates. Next they will stop the higher paying shows at the local tracks and then you will have $100,000 cars racing for a thousand bucks and complaining it costs too much. Tracks cry about car counts and car owners cry about expenses. It's not going to get any better.

#432329 PPMS and the Mileys

Posted by LM RACING on 26 July 2017 - 11:00 PM

Just wanted to express my gratitude to the Miley family. I coach an 8 year old girls softball team who is trying to go to a travel tournament on August 11-13. They have stepped up and gave us a generous donation to get us there. I can speak for my whole team by saying thank you greatly for this. You have no idea how much it means to us being able to make it to this tournament. It is 13 8yr olds dream come true.

#431375 Mike Miller, John Mollick & Wayne Carbo Big Winners at PPMS Tonight

Posted by LM RACING on 02 July 2017 - 08:16 AM

Another great night of racing at the Monster Half Mile, complete with 24 Boss Sprints, 15 Rush Late Models, 16 Sportsman cars, 9 Hobby Stocks, 9 Open 4-Cylinders, and 2 Young Guns.  In the Boss feature, Vinnie Daugherty (27) took a wild ride out over the 2nd turn wall on lap 2. He was able to walk to the ambulance on his own, but I believe he was taken to the hospital, nothing was mentioned as to the extent of any injuries he might have. The action at the front of the pack was fast and furious after that.  Justin Owen (4J) had built up a rather commanding lead when the caution again waived on lap 9.  On the ensuing restart, he was dogged by Mike Miller (82), and after a few laps, by the surging Dustin Smith (77), but still maintained the lead up until the caution waived again on lap 17.  Miller was able to make the pass in the second turn after the restart, and a few laps later Smith moved into second, and was right on Miller's tail the rest of the way.

1.         Mike Miller (82) from 8th
2.         Dustin Smith (77) from 6th
3.         Justin Owen (4J)

5.         Paul Dues (87)
6.         Michael Fischesser (44) from 14th
7.         Joe Butera (3)
8.         Cody Gardner (9G)
9.         Aaron Middaugh (91x)
10.       Gale Ruth Jr. (5x)

In the Rush Late Models, Justin Lamb made it into the lead from his 6th place starting spot in a few laps and built a sizeable lead over the rest of the field.  After several more laps, Daryl Charlier pulled into second spot, but did not seem to be gaining on Lamb, and by this time John Mollick had motored into third.  Following a restart for after a caution for Paul Jablonski on lap 12, Charlier took the lead, and Mollick dropped into second, shuffling Lamb back to 3rd.  After several laps of very close racing, Mollick made the pass in turn 2, and went on for the win.

Congratulations to Wayne on his win last night. All 3 of my kids were there to present the trophy to him and get pictures. They were so upset they couldn't present it at the Ed Laboon memorial for the NQ race. Last night made them so happy. Especially my little guy who had no idea what was going on but went with it anyway lol. Thanks again Vince.

Also 20 years ago you could get a competitive car together for $25,000 and race for $1000 to win. People also use to spend time to build their motors and cars. Now days a strong store bought car is $80,000-$100,000. To race for $1000-$1500 locally. If someone had a good season back then without destroying a car or blow a motor, they could cover most of their expenses. Now with top notch equipment and 20 wins in a season doesn't even get you close. Another issue is all the local mom and pop stores and bars that use to give their patrons $500-$1000 to go race are no longer around.

Thanks. Yes that was me in the 42 car Saturday night. We had that car out at the end of last season but it was black. It was definitely hooked up. My crew did a great job setting it up. I had it on the floor the whole race but my little 358 is no match for those monsters on a track like Saturday. I did not follow the Mac's tour but we did follow the ufo when it first started. It was cool to see all those tracks that we never would have went to otherwise.

Well at least you know what your issue was. Now you have it fixed so you can win next week.

#429408 Camping and seat info for Firecracker?

Posted by LM RACING on 15 April 2017 - 08:29 AM

Seats don't matter. They are all good but I prefer turn 1 or 4. You are probably too late to get reserved camping so you will probably have to go over by the football field. Camping gets tight so go early. They start pouring in Tuesday. Of course there may be no free camping this year. I'm not sure on that.

#428516 Lucas Oil Provisionals

Posted by LM RACING on 18 February 2017 - 08:46 PM

The provisional is to reward the cars that follow the series but fail to qualify. They put in the time and money. The "better cars" have the same opportunity. The reason the provisional exists is because those racers are loyal to the series.

#428363 RUSH to develop Non-Wing Sprint Series for 2018; $20,000 Weekly Series p...

Posted by LM RACING on 11 February 2017 - 09:27 AM

This is just another Chance to dump thousands to win 300 bucks. Instead of forcing all these crate classes they should find a way to make the late models more affordable and not make people tour to Canada for 1200 bucks to win. Find a way to get the cars competitive for 10-15 thousand and hold tour races for a min of 5000 to win. That would make everyone happy instead of getting pissed off aND want to quit.

Arguments are entertaining and there is only so much race talk to be talked about. I use to come here 10 times a day and now once a week. First was to read the race talk and the other 9 to be entertained by a few posts that took a turn from the original conversation. But I'm not the only one who frequently read those posts. Everyone did. And they did it multiple times a day. They just don't want to admit it.

Haters are gonna hate! Even though they had a whole year to save $1 per day, and be able to go and have a blast, and see a great show on that $350 they could have saved for a whole year.
