Dog hollow speedway

22 April 2024 - 10:01 PM

Mike Sotosky and I went over to Dog Hollow to watch the races yesterday Sunday April 21, 2024. It was a bit chilly but we was able to stay warm to watch the races. The track was a bit dry and very dusty. But looked smooth. The food was decent no complaints there. We will definitely go back there on another date.

Looking for someone

25 March 2024 - 09:12 PM

I'm looking for a guy from around the winber area. He said his name was Mike. He said he announces races all over western Pa. I met him three weeks ago at a hotel in Johnstown. It was the best time of my life just like he promised. I don't have any contact information for him. I met him through the grinder online hook up site. If anyone knows him please tell him to call John. He has my number

Latrobe speedway

Words from Ken Shirley tech inspector.
Attention Hobby Stock Racers:

As many of you may know, hobby stock is a new class at Latrobe Speedway. The sponsor of this new class is Dean Pollock. Since this class began, Pollock himself has had four cars of his own, running in this class. Dont you think that is a conflict of interest? In my opinion, he is trying to monopolize the class and thinks he has special privileges.
With addition of this new class, Pollock now thinks he owns this track. Latrobe track promotor took money from Dean Pollock to pay purses. He then even cried to the promoter that he did not want any of his cars teched or DQed as we teched them too hard.
Upon inspection, three out of the four sponsored cars all had numerous safety violations at the beginning of the racing season in August. On numerous occasions, Pollock asked me to close my eyes while teching cars.
On the last night of racing which was Fall Fest, I was denied access to tech Pollocks cars altogether. The promoter said he wanted to have a smooth night. The promoter admitted to me that my teching was legit on previous occasions so I guess the series sponsor can buy wins by throwing money around.
I have been a tech inspector for over four years, I have built cars and motors, and won races fair and square. If this is the proper way to tech cars, I have been doing it wrong for years. I feel like I have been betrayed by all parties involved. The series sponsor, Pollock, has tried daily and weekly to get me fired, so he can do whatever he wants. The safety of the drivers has been put at risk at times. I think every driver deserves the same respect.
So last night, I resigned. I do not feel the hobby stock class is fair to normal guys who work hard on their cars. If the fans want to see this kind of cheating, leave me out of it. I love racing but I will not watch this happen to hard working teams with small budgets. I dont have any other problems teching any other classes - crate lates, pure stocks, four-cylinders. I have been very fair with racers within the rules. I know the rules inside and out and even help racers set up if I can.
Finishing up, as a potential racer, I would think hard and strong on where I want to race my car and spend my money, as well as if I would want to get involved in Dean Pollocks hobby stock racing class.

Sincerely,
Ken Shirley Ex-Spec Inspector, Latrobe Speedway
