#452720 410 Sprints 8/28

Posted by sle21 on 20 August 2022 - 03:00 PM

Dirt- Ill buy you a beer and a Miley burger if you can provide one specific example of the Mileys themselves stiffing a driver on pay. Ive been involved with the track in some capacity basically my whole life and have never seen or heard of that one time. Ive actually heard the opposite- people may hate how the Mileys run things but theyve never stiffed on pay.

There was a crate race many years ago now in which everyone was docked $100 or so from the advertised pay because of a "entry fee we forgot about."

#450225 Lernerville tech bulletin 7/16/2021

Posted by sle21 on 13 July 2021 - 07:22 AM

The hot item that will be strictly enforced this Friday is the use of left handed lug nuts. Teching will be limited to the pro stocks since the tech officials are unfamiliar with late models, modifieds, and have never seen a sprint car axel nut before.

Pro stock competitors will need to visit tech with a dirtcar approved lug wrench (battery powered impacts are highly illegal in this division, don't forget) prior to hot laps and prove two lug nuts per wheel thread off the wheel stud by turning the lug wrench counter clockwise. If it's determined that your lug nuts are left hand threaded, you will not be allowed to use them due to unfair performance advantages.

Remember, the tech officials have problems distinguishing left from right or clockwise from counter clockwise. There will be some of you racing Friday with three lug nuts per wheel.....argue that they are wrong and you'll be disqualified for the nights event.

Conveniently the parts truck will have new front and rear hub assemblies on sale for $1200 a set, not including lug nuts as there is a nationwide oversized lug nut shortage. Good luck and be safe this weekend!

Looks like another hotly contested nail biter of a race in the rush stock car division. So all this off season hype about this new affordable division was nothing more than blowing smoke up your a$$.

Can we all agree that this rush stock car division is a joke now? There aren't any more cars, there isn't all this hype, and anyone that was running pure stocks said fug off and ran somewhere else.

Name 3 reasons why the new GM is awful then I will take you serious. I will wait!

1. Never seen the guy in the pits to greet you, ask you how you are doing, and thank you for coming to support his track. It's little things like this that go a long way.
2. Doesn't have the mentality that the racer puts on his show. The old GM thanked us all by giving us general admission tickets that were eligible for discounts towards your pit pass. Coincidentally the courtesy tickets given to you as a thank you for putting on their mall car show are no longer eligible for discounts towards pit admissions and this was not disclosed. Might not be a big deal to some people, but for racers who do this as a hobby who have no sponsors it's a complete slap in the face.
3. Where's the attempt to bring in new sponsorship money to up the purse in each division? The last GM made some good deals towards putting more money in the racers pocket.

There's your 3 reasons hot shot....

I knew the running order, I misspoke in the midst of a 16-hour workday, sue me! I work 60 hours a week and coach three baseball teams, but go ahead and call me out behind a screen name.  If you came more often, maybe you'd notice all of the new bleacher boards, new concrete wall on the front stretch, expanded and leveled out pit area, TVs in all the concession stands to watch LernervilleTV while you're in line, etc.   If you ever want to chat in person, I'm pretty easy to find.

You could certainly make some improvements in the personnel that are employed there and perhaps some policy changes that benefit the racer. Didn't know the mall car show tickets couldn't be used for a discount at the pit gate this year. Thanks for not telling us ahead of time but for using my car to put on your show, real class act. It would also be nice to have a few tech guys who actually have a copy of the rules book handy with them and actually take the hood off the car to tech it.

I don't understand why so many people think the size of the track makes it an engine killer.  The size of the track has no bearing on how hard it is on an engine, in fact, high sustained rpm is easier on a motor than constantly changing rpm.  The kind of tracks that are hard on motors are the ones where there is a ton of grip, ruts, or cause large variations in engine rpm.  PPMS has, without a doubt, the most consistent and smooth racing surface around, which is something you appreciate when you race at other tracks in the area.

#436552 RUSH Pro Stocks at Pittsburgh on May 5

I'm new to stock cars this year and have invested in putting together a Lernerville Rush Pro stock.  Anyone interested in a sponsorship to put towards tires and a gear to run this race and the Laboon race?  Plenty of space available on the car.  Can take the car to sponsoring events to support your business and attract people.

It was big foot as they always talked about.

Heard he was having an action track snack and fell from the stand because he just couldn't contain his excitement when he read about 602 crate sprints at Lernerville Speedway next year

Because you have people who don't know a thing about racing making rules, and then when you ask for specifics about rules, both parties tell you to call the local chassis builders or local crate engine builder for an explanation.

#433017 Payout for Lernerville

Posted by sle21 on 21 August 2017 - 11:21 AM

crates are money savers for the people who do not know how to build or freshen a motor. for guys who know how to build a motor, you can build a more reliable piece that makes more horsepower for the same money. the rules worked out fine when open motors and crates were both allowed.  I would be willing to bet that if they went to penn ohio rules, even given the LM tire rule and dirtcar membership, that you would be running b-mains in the sportsman division every week.

#430835 Car counts and divisions

Posted by sle21 on 13 June 2017 - 09:34 PM

I am sure most people have noticed that car counts, especially in the late model, have been low in PA. It has been mentioned a few times during other threads and I think it is something worth having a discussion about.

So here it is, in your opinion tell us why you think the reasons are for low car counts.

I'll start by giving you my opinion for what it's worth. It seems like there are basically two types of classes in PA, high dollar open motor classes and crate classes. I think especially with the late model the problem is worse, not only do you have very expensive engines to compete at the top level, but you also have the influx of new chassis and shock technology that is making older equipment obsolete.

The other issue I see is there are too many divisions that force a team to be committed to one track and no uniform set of rules that would allow teams to travel to other tracks.

Unfortunately I do not feel there is much that can be done for top level divisions. The costs of cars and engines have gotten so out of hand that there isn't much that can be done to reel it back in.

In the all crate engine world, I think it caters to the racer that wants to simply write checks, bolt a few parts together and go racing. These divisions are leaving out the guys that would prefer to save money by building and maintaining their own motor. At the very least if crate racing is the future and we are all forced to buy into it, then I think gm has to offer some kind of limited warranty for the engines. At the end of the day, these are mediocre street engines.

You would think tracks would be doing everything possible to get as many cars in the pits as they can. I honestly do not understand all the rule changes with this division the past few years. Crates were competitive with the 358s the way the rules were. I don't have anything against crate engines, but it is only helping the guys who don't want to try engine work and pushing out the guys that do.
