I have read all the good and the bad on here about Mercer Raceway Park from the Summer Nationals. I was at the track and watched the races and thought the track was in good shape for not being used all year. they didn't have to run a water truck around after every heat race and use a grader to smooth the track out. Only thing they had to do was run the top side in a little bit and that was it. Be thankful to the people that hung themselves out to put the race on so we could watch sprint car racing that night. I am glad they had such a nice turn out of cars and fans. I get sick of reading all the bullshit on here and most of the ones that do it not even at the track. I hope can try another night or two of racing at the track. I didn't hear anyone driving complaining about the track. I read people saying their was no passing and a one groove track. the must not of watched the same race I did there because their was a lot of passing and it was more than one groove. Sure the guy on the front row won the race but he had to race the entire time to stay ahead of everyone and that is the luck of the draw everywhere. Good race and hope to see more

Mercer handicapped from points for the 3 previous weeks too in the late 90's and early 2,000's

I agree with Walt. I would like to see more tracks run the handicap system. It would make for better racing

Replying to Walt's comment about the handicap system. I remember talking to Lou Blaney one night at Mercer and Lou had been starting 10-12 every night in the feature, back when they ran the handicap system there. A fellow driver in the modifieds came up to him and said, Don't you get sick of starting 10-12 every night and Lou's response to him was that was the way they worked in here and if you have a fast enough car you will get to the front so it don't matter
