Under humid skies and a threat of rain, the World Of Outlaws Late Model Series visited Winchester Speedway in northern Virginia for a race that was rescheduled from a date that was washed out back in May. With 30 cars on hand, the packed house was treated to top-notch racing from the Late Models, as well as the supporting local divisions of Pure Stocks and U-Cars.

The 2nd Annual Commonwealth 100 was held April 15th and 17th at Virginia Motor Speedway. Initially set as a two day show for Friday and Saturday, major storms postponed the feature races until Sunday afternoon. 42 cars were on hand for a shot at $25,000 to win and $2,000 to start, along with a $3,000 to win non qualifiers race known as the "Rumble on the River 30." The staff at VMS pulled off an amazing job of getting this marquee event pulled off in great fashion, even faced with the dreaded "R" word. $ 50000 top win for the new Ultimate Late Models and $ 5000 to win for the Fastrak Crate Late Models brought strong car counts and a good crowds out at Modoc speedway in SC. Gene Boyer promoter of Ark-La-Tex speedway in Vivian knew exactly what the fans wanted to start the season.
