#422769 Roaring Knob

Drivers should have some kind of fire extinguisher at their reach, and a fire suppression system is even better.  But this does not excuse the track from having a real fire truck with trained fire men in full gear.    After what happened this spring, if any track is operating with anything less the drivers should not even go on the track.

I don't care for the place since they took over, but what FanJim said.   It's the real world and its business.  People are going to do what they need to do to make money.  It was a smart investment move getting that property as it is now prime.   Even if someone else had gotten it, they would have probably sold out as well.   Noboby is making $800,000 from a race track these days.  Best way to get your money back is develop it.  It's reality. Racing is dying.   Lernerville could well be next given all the new houses in the surrounding area of it.  Who is to say that isn't why the new owners bought it as well?

#415488 Inaugural RUSH Pro Stock event to debut at Lernerville's Steel City Stamp...

What I don't get is all this complaining over implementing a STOCK motor, when nobody says a word when tracks allow  racing transmissions, roller cams, aftermarket suspension configurations, headwork, etc at other tracks.  THOSE are the items that have really ruined this class, not a stock motor.  Although I will admit that Lernervillle is one of the few tracks that managed to keep most of those items off the cars.

It's a shame Vince puts so much work into this event and holds it at such a run-down facility with poor management.  I believe if the event was held at a respected facility, other tracks would honor the race more.

#402587 Lias Tire AND American Racer announce the creation of the CARS (Crate America...

Blame RUSH and FASTRAK for the creation of CARS.   AR wants to sell crate tires.   They can't because RUSH and FASTRAK have chosen to only use one brand.    If they allowed both brands, there would be no CARS!

LOL  How many times does a Rush & FASTRAK touring race conflict?   Hardly ever, so keep looking for the reason.....Mudslinger nailed part of it.  Originally the tires lasted.  Now they don't.    Running up the costs for racers kills car counts.    If  FASTRAK is so stellar, why are there so few tracks in the South where it originated associated with it now?

#399962 Roaring knob what does the future hold?

Posted by Street Stocker on 20 October 2014 - 09:13 AM

Roaring Knob was a tight run ship under the former owners.   When the track was sold, most of the employees stayed and the first years it was still functioning well under Jones because of them and it was being run with the same rules, schedule etc at the former owners.   You can see when you go that not many of the former employess are there, schedule is much different now, pricing has increased, rules have changed, etc.  Now and his ways of doing things half-a$$ are finally breaking through.   This track is going down the same road as The Rock, it just took a little longer because it started out with good employees.

But the whole problem is that the politics dictate the racing by affecting the car count and quality of the field....

Ding Ding Ding Ding.   Exactly!    They have run off a lot of race teams, which affects the racing!

Thus is the kind of crap they pull and the reason they get no cars unless it's a series race. Drivers can't trust them. They are a scourge on the face of racing in the area and are doing nothing but trying to take everything they can out of area racing.

Now their #1 licker will find someway to defend them and tell you what a great show the low car count of local (the field wasn't even regional) after watching Satterlee lead 99 laps lol.

So what's your point? Satterlee lead every lap last night. Not many cars or a good race. Although one butt licker will say it was outstanding no matter what. Most places will give you big names or big fields if cars for those sky high prices.
