never really understood promoters idea on a payoff.  Here is another $21,815.00 purse that is top heavy.  Most race teams that travel look at 3 things depending on how good they are.

1. how much it is to start

2. how much is it for 10th

3. how much is it to win

Its great to have that big number $6000.00 to win to draw one or two bigger names that might draw a few more fans in. but if you lower that to $5000.00 to win and spread the 61% of the purse through out the field it would draw more cars.  Which in turn draws more fans that show to watch those cars.  I think this is a much better payout with the same purse.

1. 5000  2. 2250  3.1250  4. 1150  5. 1000  You still pay a grand to finish in the top five.  Which accounts for only 48% of the total purse where Dogs is almost 61% of the purse is paid to five drivers.

6. 900  7. 850  8. 800  9. 775  10. 750 Your paying $200 more for 10th and more across the board for 6th through 10th and accounts for 18% of the total purse while Dogs payout is 17% of the purse but a much lower payout.

11. 650  12. 625 13. 600 14. 575  15. 550 Now is where you see the difference in payout. 11th through 15 are roughly $150-200.00 more per position and accounts for 13% of the purse where dog is only paying 9% and again in my opinon are the most important paying positions in the field.

16. 475  17. 475  18. 450 19. 450  20. 400  Again you are $100- 135 more per position and you are paying out 10% where dog is only paying out 7%

21. 400  22. 400  23. 400  24. 400  You pay $200.00 more to start per position 21st to 24th which means alot when taking into account fuel and pit passes to get teams to the track.  If you have enough teams to run a non qualifiers race there is no need to start more than 24 cars.

In conclusion if you reward teams for showing up at your race you will have more there than just rewarding the top five week after week.  Most teams that win these 5 grand to win races can afford to race.  Its the teams that hope to have a shot a winning and a very good chance at a top 15 which would help cover part of the costs of racing that day.

the problem with the latemodel class was in fine display last night and at stateline tonight.  4000 to win and 150 for 12th.  150 doesnt cover the fuel or even one used up tire from last night.  Only 4 guys covered costs and the rest lost a minimum of $500.  Everyone can bitch about if you cant afford to run the class drop down.  Problem is promoters are retarded when it comes to payout.  We hauled 7hrs round trip to race last night and the 150 we got wont even cover the fuel cost.  If they are paying 4000 to win special it should be minimum 10% to start.  Stateline is no better tonight 5800 to win and 300 to start all the way to 12th.  That is what is killing this class.
