#442976 Latrobe results ?

Posted by Hatorade on 21 May 2019 - 07:56 AM

Latrobe...if ran correctly will finish off Roaring knob.....PMS.....And Maybe Lerrnerville if they ran Superlatemodels!  Hope all goes well for them and they can run a few Super shows to test the Waters.  Allways was my Favorite Track!

How would they finish off Lernerville when they run a different night? That is a stretch by any means. But, I think you meant Dog Hollow.

The smart thing to do would be to work with another track or 2 and rotate in the super lates. The super late fields are getting thinned out.

#430844 Awtey Makes History at Jennerstown

Posted by Hatorade on 14 June 2017 - 07:54 AM

I was there Saturday at Jennerstown and yes I was a freebie to get in. Who gives a S**T if I paid or not. I got to watch some racing and a well run program. The racing was good across all divisions. It was not on your edge of the seat exciting but it was still competitive. A couple more laps and the Kuntz #7 would have gotten around Awtey. Not a ton of cars but look at the dirt tracks around here. They aren't that spectacular either.

Wolfie, you commented on food on another post. They had Chic-fil-a Sandwiches, Little Caesers Pizza, Auntie Anne's Pretzels, Dairy Queen among other items the track prepares. Hard to beat that at any track. The only place that comes close to that is Lernerville. So I am not sure where you are getting that their food was sub par. They also had alcohol available.

The stands were packed. So be it a lot of those people are free. There aren't that many die hard fans around any more. The die hard fans don't pay the bills. They got the people in the stands and they bought food and drinks. The business strategy seems to be working for them.

I support all kinds of races and tracks. You have to support what you have because it seems the racing community is slowly drying up with rising costs for everyone.

However, if you are going to be a miserable P**ck and just complain the whole time keep your ass at home.

#410073 RUSH's post-race teardown of Corey McPherson's GM 604 engine at Lerne...

Posted by Hatorade on 22 July 2015 - 10:39 AM

I don't go to Lernerville often but with the car counts that they have and the competiveness of the division I would say if it ain't broke don't fix it. Do I like the concept of the crates and low cost? Yes. But the track is a business and from what it sounds like you are about to kill off a division. Unless they are getting one hell of a kick back I don't see the logic behind it. If teams see that the 604 is a viable engine option let them decide that for themselves.

Hypothetically, if they really want a crate division add the late models or modifieds. There is a good bit of late model teams that I bet would come since there are not too many tracks running a crate class on Friday night in the general area.

I don't know Corey but kudos to him for being different and proving that you don't need all motor to win.

A uniform package of rules would definitely be ideal but the main problem associated with that is tech. You can have as many rules as you want but without enforcement it is pointless. That is why some of these tracks have cars that are out of control. One car gets away with something, soon the top 5 cars are doing it, and then half the field. At that point, does a track want to disqualify half their field? No, so whatever rule they just broke is now accepted. Don't get me wrong, there are certain exceptions that should be considered from a cost stand point. Strict rules need strict enforcement. If you do that, you will more than likely have tighter groups of racing rather than 1-3 cars out front lapping the rest of the field because they just bought their win.

#401545 Lias Tire AND American Racer announce the creation of the CARS (Crate America...

Posted by Hatorade on 05 December 2014 - 12:06 PM

It is all about tire sales. Last years open tire rule was great for the racers, but not for tire sales. This year you cannot use your left over tires from last year, but instead have to spend $150 per tire for 6 or 7 tires and hope to pick up some point money at the end of the season.

While I do think it this move is primarily about tire sales it is not because of the open tire rule last year and using up used AR tires last year. Dog Hollow and Marion Center were both FASTRAK sanctioned in the years before. Lias tire and AR were making NO money off of the crate cars. They were at least making some last year with some of the deep pocket teams buying new tires every now and then. I think they saw the opportunity and potential with the guys running AR's with open tire rule. Defintely a great move by Lias and AR but still unfavorable to some of the racers running on a budget.

At least there were consequences handed out. A little steep IMO but they did the right thing. However, how the hell did these two get disciplined and nothing came out of the crate class incident a few weeks ago. A car was junked in that one.

The few times I have been there this season it has been junk. The track was slick after 3 heat races. The feature ends up being one groove and if you don't make a move early you are just riding it out. Yeah, you can say were bitching but this is something the track can control. Sometimes drawing cars and fans ends up being out of their hands but if it is due to a crappy surface then it is your fault. To me it looked like all the clay is gone but that doesn't mean you shouldn't attempt to throw some extra water on it. Before, you could go there and spend 10 minutes scraping and kicking mud/clay off your car after a heat race.
