In Topic: Western Pa. Sprint Car News/Rumors

Not sure how a question about western pa sprint cars turned into a bitch session about lernerville but ill play along. you guys saying lernerville will take a step backwards couldn't be more wrong, in my opinion.

I can tell you first hand that each and every member of the current management team (Thompson Family) who sees me in the pits ,during or after a race night, has stopped and taken the time to shake my hand

and thank me for coming. I can also tell you first hand that I, as well as numerous other drivers, have been approached by the current general manager and asked for opinions and or ideas to improve the racing,

rules and safety of our cars.

I have never had any problems or beefs with the former G.M. but I can tell you that in my experience with him, if you weren't a big name front runner in a headline division, your opinion didn't mean squat to him.

The Thompson family may be new to owning / operating a dirt track but they are far from new to running a successful business that is profitable. I see no problem at all with someone having to pay a small fee

to park a camper on racetrack property for a 3 day drunk fest.

I feel that the Thompson family has done a fine job in their brief time running Lernerville and I see nothing that would make me think otherwise moving forward.

Id like someone to answer a question for me. How exactly do you figure a 604 crate engine is "way out of hand"? I purchased a 10 race old 604 complete, race ready with carb, pumps, distributer and even got the plugs and wires for $5000. I raced that motor all season and never put a drop of fuel in it that was over 93 octane. I consistently see these 400 hp motors outperform motors that make 500+ hp  that cost 10 - 12 grand. If you are anti crate that's fine with me, you are entitled to your opinion. But to say they are out of hand, in my opinion, is a false statement. Running pump gas all year as opposed to high octane racing fuel saved me enough cash to pay for a rebuild over the off season. If you guys want to save a ton of cash and still be competitive you should look into switching over.

This is a list of cars I got just looking at the final points standings from last year. I believe most if not all of these guys will run most of the season.

McPhereson

Kelly

Young

Mcdonald

Jeff Miller

Zambotti

Easler

Schreckengost

Byers

Wearing

Burke

Brunnell

Stivenson (Brians dad)

Trestani

Hartman

Piotrowski

Gumbach

Dietz

Also the 91 of Siegel and the 9 of Sipple are new cars ive heard of. That's 20 cars already. Some may not show on opening night because their cars are not ready. Plus there are rumors of some cars from ppms that have purchased crate motors and are planning to run l'ville full time. I think its going to be better than its ever been in the stock division.

I don't come on here and post very often. I normally just read and chuckle to myself about some of the things people say. I feel like I need to respond to the few crate haters who are always on here spewing their hatred towards the crate rule for the stocks. If you don't like the rule and want to express your displeasure about it, fine. Say your piece and move on. But when you are on here calling those who choose to abide by the rules and want to race, jag offs and all the other nonsense you call them.....That's a bunch of crap. Heres how I see it. The division will gain more cars than the few that greencar55 mentioned a few posts ago. And who did the division lose anyhow? the 54 car is a loss. The 64 car only raced there a handful of times last year. I don't know who the 91 car is so no loss there. I assume the 13x car is Moyer who hasn't raced at lernerville for 2 or 3 years. And the last 34 car I remember in stocks at lernerville was Glenn Noland. On top of all of that, Ill bet a years wages that the 20j is back full time before mid season. Id also be willing to bet a pile of money that the stocks will again have the best car count of any division at lernerville or any other track. They will most likely be the only division running b mains. Most guys want to race and are willing to do whatever they need to do to make that happen. So my point to all of this nonsense is this...........Maybe you, Mr. greencar55, are the only real jag off of them all.
