BRC27 the only ULMS/NDRL race at AMP was in 2013. They had a red flag on lap 3 and one more on lap 20. Blose won with Robbie Blair on his bumper at the end.

My guess is 90% of racers don't come on here unless there was a conflict from the weekend's events. Posting one post on here to make a change or promote a purse to drivers is not good PR work.

Just saying it's $1500.00 to win doesn't say much to a guy that knows he's propably not going to win but would like to know what 10th on back is paying. If it's the same that team says well there will be more and better cars so lets stay home cause there is a chance now we won't make the field and can't afford to go for just tow money. At least give a to start price, and call all the cars that have competed to give a heads up.

For all you aluminum versus steel people, the night they ran double feautres aluminum 1 Steel 1. Several very competative steel blocks run the TM/Hummingbird tracks.

Well your $.02 is about all it's worth. First off in the area are majority "steel blocks" within a 50 mile radius. Two weeks in a row they had 30+ Late Models and maybe a 1/3 of them were aluminum motors.

As far as the 50lbs, the reality is, it is an advantage to aluminum motor Late Model. When you can put it "ANYWHERE" in front of the motor plate is huge!

The track sat idle for a while and they are trying to build a weekly racing program. They are putting money back to each class and have been adding weekly.

A word of advice Express don't promote a track!!!!!!!!

Blose, Dupont, Hoffner, Stiner, Powell, Gordon top 5. Gordon and Powell might need flip flopped.

I wouldn't say it was a big payout, the only thing that was advertised was $1500.00 for first, no clue what it paid back through. You need to publish a complete payout to get more cars, if it's worth making the feature so you can base your ROI.

Bottom line you need a NON-COMMERCIAL Class A license with airbrake endorsement to legally drive a RV or "Private Coach" with airbrakes on state and federal roadways. A class A CDL will work as well, but if you are not a commercial driver, then you need a non-commercial license. Go to your local DMV center that gives CDL driving tests, apply. and take test.

#399490 Jim Butler Memorial Race @ MCR this Saturday

Posted by Fwig on 08 October 2014 - 12:49 AM

I feel all memorial races are for great reasons. Family, contributions, dedication, a great person, etc.... Jim Butler was ALL of those plus so much more. Anyone that knew Jim knows everything I'm about to share.

A writer, wrestling guru, photographer, race concessions (t-shirts), and a man that had a gift of gab and would give you the shirt off his back. Jim took me to my first big Late Model race, 1981 Hillbilly 100 at Pennsboro. I couldn't wait until the next Friday, because he said "If you liked this weekend, wait until next weekend". That Friday came, we pack up and head to Eldora for my first World 100. Jim and his family treated me like I was a part of their family. All great people!

Jim was known nationally for his contributions to the Late Model racing across the country. He followed the NDRA, Hav-A-Tampa, Stars, WoO, and several regional series in the northeast. Being involved with series and driver's apparel for over 20 years. Then he started the "PA Mudslinger" annual t-shirt highlighting proven and up and coming Late Model drivers from PA.

Jim and I became very close friends over the years and I can't count the races we went to and how many tracks we went to. What makes Jim so special, every trip we made was full of laughs and memories. Clearfield would not of had Blooomquist show up for the Yankee Doodle in '06 if it weren't for Jim.

I could go on and on with stories from the past trips and memories with Jim. He was one of a kind, and I doubt that I will ever meet or get to know another person like him. I know Jim would be at McKean this weekend getting all the gossip and more than likely taking the long way home through Salamanca making a stop for a bite to eat. Maybe hit a slot machine for a few hours LOL.

I will be there this weekend, and will be flagging this race on behalf of Jim and his family. It is my honor to do so, he got me started in flagging, and was a dear friend.

R.I.P. Jim

Sincerely, Mike Frisco

#392512 NDRL Cancells Next weekend races!

Posted by Fwig on 22 June 2014 - 01:47 AM

I don't understand why people get on here and throw assumptions before knowing all the facts. First the NDRL national series made a decision based on putting on a major paying event knowing that the car would be less than what was originally expected.  Two Hell Tour 10K to win races the same weekend, MLRA has two, I believe are 10K to win races, which several cars from the Arkansas area follow, a points race for a regional series (SUPR or SASS) in the southern region, and obviously the Firecracker. With all the said they all made the decision to reschedule.

The NDRL NE series had a rough night at Bedford. Weather, track conditions and transponder problems. The transponders worked prior to time trials and once time trials started the system didn't work. The track jumped in and tried to use multiple stop watches as they had 4 cars qualifying, unfortunately it wasn't accurate. With intermittent rain and heat races on deck they had to make quick decisions to go with the original pill draw to line up the heats, and throw out times. Right or wrong decision and weather a factor they had to go with it. After the heats were completed and called a drivers meeting to explain what had happened and tried to make it as fair as possible. Unfortunately with the rain during the week, the track did not hold up well.

Tonight at Port Royal 35 cars in the pits and a solid field. Ran 30 laps one caution on an excellent track, and a great track crew keeping the show moving and all were very organized. There are some growing pains taking over a series that primarily ran in northern PA and southern NY and expanding the region.

I was at both races, just in case you think this is all "hear say".

What evidence did you prove????? My facts of from past history PROVED that several quality drivers ran at there on a weekly basis. The history of both Clearfield tracks have nothing to do with running weekly races. No one on this forum can say why owners have failed or took the money and run or whatever the case may have been as to why they decided to change hands.

I wasn't aware of Tri-City trying to run LM's on a weekly basis, but another example of a track being miss-managed. Raceway 7 chased the cars away, and as posted, I forgot about them cutting down the turns and made it a bumper tag race. MCR has always had very competitive LM fields, and been running weekly for years. All three northern tracks had a flavor of the week mentality for years. Franny would piss some off they go to MCR and vice-versa. Eriez had their ups and downs as well. MCR has had over 20 cars on several occasions.

I have not giving any excuses for anyone. first of all, I don't have a penny in either place. Unlike you that wants to come on here and be negative and my guess is you don't venture far from Lernerville and PPMS, I try to give suggestions and support to any track that is willing to make it good for everyone.

Maybe you are Legends crew chief, working for bacon cheeseburgers?

A fair purse is when positions 5 through 10  reduce losses, further back helps "field fillers" to come back each week, and when a top 10 car has a bad night. That's what weekly purses should be designed for, maintaining car counts. 10th is just as important as 1st.

Bacon - Raceway 7 bad management, Tri-City to my knowledge never ran LM's on a regular basis, plus a big motor track. This year MCR has had great LM fields.....

Who cares why Ferd paved the track, the facts are he paved it. This is about AMP.

Location???? Now this cracks me up!  Lets see who has cut there teeth at HVS/GRP/AMP. David Scott, Robbie Blair, Dutch Davies, to name a few that I believe (not positive) got their first LM win.

I think others have covered the job market in this area.... There are good paying jobs in the area.

were people really standing that close to the track all the time back then

Yes and sometimes closer. I have seen your dad get a little closer, but he might have been mad at someone. LOL.
