Satterlee & Krape Take UFo “ThunderDog” Wins, Yoder 2016 UFo Champion!
(Stongstown, PA) – Gregg Satterlee of Indiana, PA captured his fourth UFo Championship win of the season Saturday night in “The ThunderDog” at Dog Hollow Speedway. It was Satterlee’s fourth UFo win of five appearances and netted him the $6,000 first prize. Tim Krape of Bellefonte, PA zoomed from deep in the field to win the UFo Semi-Late feature and $1,500 first prize. Dylan Yoder returned to the track after being involved in a huge pileup to win the 2016 UFo Super Late Model Championship, his first race car championship ever.
A spectacular field of 49 UFo Super Late Models returned for the second day of the “ThunderDog Showdown”. Seventh starting Mike Pegher, Jr., sixth starting Dan Angelicchio, Waylon Wagner, Jeremy Miller, Satterlee and Brian Tavenner won the six exciting heat races. Matt Lux and Matt Cosner split the consolation wins.
Angelicchio and Satterlee sat on the front fow of the feature after the redraw. Angelicchio bolted into the lead at the outset with Satterlee in pursuit. The first caution of the race appeared on lap 19 when Pegher slowed with a flat tire.
On the double file restart, Satterlee took control. On lap 24, another caution appeared as Matt Lux slowed. Satterlee once again lead on the restart, but one lap later disaster struck as nine car pileup between Jamie Lathroum, Dylan Yoder, Kyle Hardy, Jim Yoder, Andrew Wylie, Coleby Frye,Devin Friese, Chuck Clise, and Mike Mort blocked the track on the front straight and brought out the red flag. Yoder, with the championship in his sight, hot pitted and returned to the track. Lathroum, Friese and Mort also retuned but the other five cars were eliminated.
Satterlee lead again on the final restart and ran first over the remaining laps of the 61 lap championship to score the huge win. Angelichhio crossed the line in second followed by Wagner and Tavenner. Alex Ferree moved to the outside groove in the final laps to pass Miller for fifth. Miller finished sixth with Jason Covert, Dan Stone, Mason Zeigler and 20th starting Cosner rounding out the top ten.
Krape proved the track was still multi-groove after all the laps turned on it during the weekend, by winning the 38 lap UFo Semi-Late feature from the ninth position. Dan Smeal charged into the lead at the initial green flag. Four cautions slowed the first nine laps with Smeal continuing show the way and Krape picking off positions on the outside lane. When the race returned to green, Krape tracked down Smeal and took the lead on lap 13. Sixth starting Eric Irvin moved into second to attempt to take the lead from Krape and defend his event win.
After another caution on lap 26, Krape continued to lead. 11th starting Robbie Black grabbed second from Irvin with only five laps remaining. On that same lap the, final caution of the race appeared. Black challenge Krape when the race resumed, but Krape was first to the line.
Black, Irvin, 10th starting Curtis Heath, and Smeal followed, with Kadden Smith, Gale Huey, Frank Brocious, Rodney Phillips and Waco Williams rounding out the top ten. Heath and Black split the heat race wins.
After finishing second in the 2015 Super Late Model UFo Championship, Dylan Yoder broke through to his first-ever race car championship in winning the 2016 UFo Super Late Model Championship. Yoder, of Selinsgrove, PA is a multi-time winner on the UFo circuit with wins at Dog Hollow and Port Royal. Yoder proved his championship determination in “The ThunderDog,” as he returned to the track after being involved in a nine-car pileup to be sure the championship did not slip out of his hands.
Bump Hedman of Sugar Grove, PA hit the road with the UFo tour for the first time and captured second in the point standings. Mike Mort of Lewistown, PA finished third. Waylon Wagner, also of Lewistown, ended up fourth with Matt Lux of Franklin, PA advancing to fifth in the final race.

Fries Wins UFo “Kline Klassic” in a Thrilling Full-Contact Finish Over 53 Car Field!
(Stongstown, PA) –Andy Fries of Mercersburg, PA captured his first-ever UFo Super Late Model win in the “Flying Floyd Kline Klassic” at Dog Hollow Speedway Friday night. Fries held off hard-charging Mason Ziegler at the finish by just a few feet in an exciting finish with both cars in full contact,
The biggest Super Late Model field in the region for 2016 once again assembled for the first night of this two night mega-event. Six heat races for the whopping field of 53 cars were won by Mike Pegher, Jr., Waylon Wagner, Fries, Dave Blazavich, Jeremy Miller and Rick Eckert. Tim Senic, 10th starting Dylan Yoder and Kyle Hardy won the three consolation events. Because of the high car count, track promoter Dan Savino treated fans to a rare 30 car feature to allow as many drivers to participate as possible.
Gregg Satterlee and Fries sat on the front row for the 38 lap feature after the redraw with Fries immediately bolting out to a lead in his 2011 Rocket. The first caution fo the race appeared on lap four with Fries, Satterlee, Dan Angelicchio, Jeremy Miller and Eckert leading the way.
After the restart, Fries once again charged into the lead. As he reached lapped traffic, Satterlee was able to close in an challenge. The second caution appeared on lap 22 for the slowing car of Joe Marting. At that time, Fries and Satterlee were followed by Mason Zeigler, who advance from eighth, Angelicchio and Miller. On the restart, Zeigler advance to second before another six-car caution appeared on lap 26.
Fries once again was strong on the restart, and left Ziegler to chase him during the final 12 laps. Zeigler got the opportunity he was waiting for on the final lap as Fries became mired in lapped cars coming around the third turn. Zeigler moved to the outside and the two race absolutely side-by-side off of turn four. As they came down the front straight, the cars made contact turning both cars toward the wall. Fries and Zeigler crossed the line together with Fries winning by just a few feet.
Angelicchio, Eckert, and Miller followed. Satterlee, Dan Stone and Waylon Wagner finished sixth through eighth. Jason Covert made an amazing drive from 25th to finish ninth with Michael Lake rounding out the top ten.
The UFo “ThunderDog” finishes tonight, Saturday, September 24 with the 61 lap “ThunderDog” UFo Super Late Model season finale paying $6,000 to the winner. UFo Semi-Lates and Pro/Crate Late Models will race for $1,500 each, with Hobby racing for $700 and Roadrunners competing for $400.
