#443837 Dog Hollow Speedway Track Information Update

Dog Hollow Speedway Update:

We would like to clarify some statements pertaining to the cancellation of the ULMS Speedweeks Hell Tour races as well as answer a few of the questions that have been brought up in this forum. Why we are able to run a Regular Event and not a Special Event is easy to answer. All you have to do is look at what happened this past weekend at Atomic Speedway in Ohio as a result of a Sprint Car going through a high quality catch fence. Several people were injured and were taken to the hospital. With a threshold that is created in a field of 24 to 30 Super Late Models or Sprint Cars to be ran during a Special Event increases the chance of an accident to occur. The catch fence and front stretch wall at DHS has been an issue for the past several years. In 2016, we were shut down for 2 weeks to make repairs were made designated by the insurance company. Those repairs included the catch fence, front stretch wall, a few electrical issues and a couple of other minor issues that were repaired according to the insurance companies requirements.

Now to answer a couple statements that have been brought up on this message board. The comment pertaining to inspections being conducted at the beginning of the year is false and misinformed. An inspection seldom ever occurs at the beginning of the season. Over the past 6 years, there has not been an inspection before June of that year.

The comment about a lawyer being involved in a payout dispute has never happened and is completely and totally false. Also, pertaining to the ULMS race that was held at DHS a few weeks ago. Every participant in that event has been paid.

To anyone who has commented both positively and negatively, you are more than welcome to come to come to the track and have a tour the facility so you can see all the work that has and continues to occur. My name and number is always available to anyone who wishes to contact me. I do not hide behind a fake identity. I will not get into a back and fourth type conversation. However, this is one of the biggest problems in the Motorsports community today with negativity. Anyone who makes pure asinine comments who don’t know the full extent of a situation is no benefit for local racing in general. Especially on social media and online forums such as this. I suggest that others should try to volunteer at their local racing facility’s to help them instead of taking to the internet to create negative comments.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Dog Hollow Speedway Gears Up for the Triple Late Model Sam Barley Revolution on July 3

(Strongstown, PA).  Dog Hollow Speedway will be the site of a total late model invasion on Sunday, July 3.  The Sam Barley Late Model Revolution will showcase three premier late model divisions in one mega-event.  The Super Late Models will race for $4,000 with the Semi-Lates competing for $1,000 and the CARS Crate/Pro-Late Models racing for $800.

Dog Hollow has become a late model powerhouse with strong car counts in its late model divisions on all special events as well as weekly programs.  The Sam Barley Late Model Revolution will celebrate the nations holiday with a full-power triple late model showcase.

Super Late Models will compete in a 45 lap championship paying $4,000 to win, $300 to start and $150 for non-qualifiers.    The Super Late Model feature starting grid will be up to 30 cars based on overall car count.  24 cars will be the base field, with 26 cars starting if the car count is 35, 28 if 40 and 30 if 45+.  Jared Miley of South Park, PA is the defending winner of this event as well as the winner of the Shawn McGarvey Championship in June at the track.

The Semi-Lates will make their second appearance of 2016 with a 30 lap championship paying $1,000 to win, and $100 to start.   This class will allow limited and steel block motor cars to compete together with a weigh variance.  Updated rules will be posted to the website, which will be a simplified version of the rules used for this class in April.

Limited 360 c.i. motor cars meeting all rule book specifications will weigh 2,350.  Flat top piston open 360 c.i. steel block motors will weigh 2,400 with aluminum heads requiring a 50 pound weigh mounted on or in front of the mid-plate. 430 c.i. steel blocks will weigh 2,450.  Robbie Black of Claysburg, PA won the Springtime Spectacular from his ninth place starting position in the Semi-Lates in April.

The CARS Crate/Pro-Late Models will also race 25 laps for $800 to win.    This payoff provided a 24 car field at the Shawn McGarvey Championship in June.   CARS American Racer tires are required on all four wheels if cars are competing for CARS points.  Other cars must have the specified CARS American Racer tires on the rear.  Mike Loughard of Twin Rocks, PA emerged the winner of that event.

Cadets, Pure Stocks and Sidwinder 4-cylinders will also race in their quick programs.  The sparks will fly in the grand finale with the Midnight Madness Enduro paying $1,000 to the winner.

At Dog Hollow on July 3 pit gates will open at 3:30, grandstands at 5:00, pill draw will end at 6:20 with the drivers meeting at 6:30.  Late model warm-ups will start at 7:00 and racing will begin after that, at approximately 7:30.    Grandstand admission is only $20, seniors 60+ $17, junior 13-17 $10, children 7-12 $5.  All pit tickets will be $35.  Super Late Models will have a $25 entry fee deducted from final payoff and Semi-Lates will have a $15 entry fee.  The Enduro car/driver pit fee is $60 and the Enduro passenger pit fee is $45.

Both the Super Late Models and Semi-Lates will use an open-compound tire rule, with all rule book tire specifications in effect.  Drivers may compete in up to 2 late model classes with separate cars and a $50 additional fee.  Each car can only compete in one division for this event.

#414959 Dog Hollow Speedway Goes Cadet/Street Stock in 2016

Posted by Dog Hollow on 07 October 2015 - 08:18 AM

RD Shaffer Well Drilling Services approached Dog Hollow Speedway last month to become a 2016 sponsor and as a result the Cadet/Street Stock class will be at Dog Hollow on a weekly basis in 2016.

Rules will be similar to what was utilized for the ThunderDog Showdown.    Current Dog Hollow rules will still be legal, with GM 602, 604, 360 spec motors and 406 standard motors getting weight breaks.   This should accommodate all current configurations in the Western PA area.   Rules will be released in the post season.
