20. ROLL CAGE 4-post, box-type roll cage of 1 1/2” minimum outside diameter and .090 minimum thickness steel tubing highly recommended. Roll cage should have at least 3 horizontal bars at driver’s side door and 2 horizontal bars at passenger side door, extended outward into door panels with 2 vertical bars between each horizontal bar as additional support. An extra vertical side brace bar is recommended on the left side in line with steering wheel. Door bars highly recommended being minimum 1 1/2” in diameter with a minimum thickness of .090. Both door window areas should remain open and unblocked by roll cage bars for easy exit. Roll cage should extend forward on driver’s side to protect foot area completely. Roll cage should be welded to frame in at least 6 places (in addition to diagonal bracing) and welded together at all intersecting points. Diagonal bars should brace roll cage at rear, and should run from frame to top of roll cage. Top of roll cage should be at least 2” above top of driver’s helmet. All areas of the cockpit should have at least 11” of clearance below the roll cage and roof. All roll cage bars within reach of driver should be covered with non-flammable foam padding. Other than padding, roll cage must remain exposed above top of door with no aerodynamic effects. Right-side padded headrest or head net recommended attached to roll cage. Bars or wire mesh in windshield and driver’s side quick-release window net highly recommended.

These are the cage rules for PPMS stocks, notice how many times it says highly recommended. these highly recommended rules need to be mandatory rules. also i am a firm believer in 1" 3/4 for the main cage in any stock car. These are 3,000 lbs. cars , they need to have a little more than a 2,400 lbs. late model does.

#415406 Inaugural RUSH Pro Stock event to debut at Lernerville's Steel City Stamp...

Posted by whiteboy55 on 19 October 2015 - 05:49 PM

i am bitter, can't help it.  what they are doing is wrong and i would bet that it will be shoved down other racers throats at other area tracks, this is just the beginning!

what i do not care about is Lernerville , i do care about racing!

#415037 who's getting a free 604?

Level playing field? How level of a field do you think the Rush crate lates are on? The guy with the money still wins, it just costs more now

This is where stock cars become even more expensive! In 1 year we will see how well this works out

I agree with this to an extent, but where or how do you draw the line? In stocks, the crate debate is obvious . But mods, lates, sprints, etc.

a set of Integra  shocks for a CRATE late costs ABOUT $3,000, maybe more. You can buy the Billstein shock for about $135 plus $40 for the add-ons ($175 per shock) 6 shocks will cost less than half the price of the Integra's

you can probably count on one hand how many guys are running the Billsteins, why? because the guy with the money will spend the cash on the better ones thinking that they will have an advantage. again the drivers are their own worst enemy. if you can afford a set of shocks at $3,000 move up to Super Lates, money obviously isn't an issue for your team.

the top series (Lucas and WoO) are outlawing exotic shocks, that's a step in the right direction. sportsman or pure stock, cadets, whatever they call them now need to be on a hard 8 in. tire. Crate lates should not be able to run a $3,000 shock package when the motor only costs $7,000.

#410022 RUSH's post-race teardown of Corey McPherson's GM 604 engine at Lerne...

that 604  would be highly competitive with the old economy motor that they ran in the limited lates at PPMS.

i hate crate only divisions, it took the mechanic out of it. i would have never raced if stocks were crate only because the people that owned my cars got their kicks  building the motors.

What do you mean by "co-exist"??   The American Racer Series seems to be doing fine at Marion Center & Dog Hollow!!  And it appears to me to be more of a tire deal that a track or race sanction like RUSH & FASTRAK.

Walt

none of the american racer guys are supporting Rush, and a few of them used to, if Rush would have a tire rule that would allow multiple manufacturers they would have more cars .

i understand that the AR series is more of a program than a series. AR wanted to give money to the racers . Rush does not allow AR's, they do want to co - exist , they would rather take the money that hoosier offers them than let american racer tires exist in their series .

Hoosier gives money to Rush to force their series teams to buy Hoosiers.

American Racer gives the money to the racer that uses their product.

You do realize you sound retarded, right?

he is far from retarded,. i do not know him , but he knows what he's talkin about. his assessment is spot on IMO.

i saw the same thing the night Tim practiced Johnson's late model and raced his own crate late. he was bad fast in the Super ( rumor was 1/10 off the track record) and in a 4 wheel drift in his crate.

Tim just hasn't figured out the proper balance in his car. Johnson bought a brand new Club 29 that had the proper balance between left and right and Tim looked like he been drive Late models for years.

i think Tim will fare well at Eldora, i'm not sayin he will win, but i think he will  be competitive. he is a natural talent that can adapt.

LOOKED LIKE A RACING DEAL TO ME,  if you want to finish first, you must first finish. that was not intentional in my view, if it were, Jared would have been in victory lane. he would have taken him out the proper way. lol
