#454353 Hidden Valley Results?

Posted by Skull on 23 November 2023 - 09:58 AM

Another new Late Model class 'Econo Lates". Feels like every 5 years a new one comes out.

What are there now? About 3 dozen different LM classes in W. Pa.? So exciting.

That saddens me. Merle started out trying to keep the place open.

Sunday night is really tough. Most guys don't even race twice a week anymore. And those that do race that much are running Friday and Saturday. I was up there a couple of times in '21 and once last year. Had decent fields and good crowds. I'm guessing he is not having a good year this year and can see the handwriting on the wall.

Wild race, very entertaining.

Did I read this right?  Only 6 late models were running at the end of the race? Was the track that awful rough ? What was the DQ on the #10 car and did he make it to the end ?

Yes, you read it right. The LM feature was one of attrition. I would expect that even the cars that finished suffered some sort of suspension/drive line damage. The track was very rough in the corners, especially in turns 3 & 4.  The Corrado 10 is being driven by Michael Norris, the feature winner. The #48, Colton Flinner, was DQ'd. There was contact between he and Norris in turn 2 after a late race re-start. The 48 had a run on Norris on the outside. Norris caught a rut that sent him in to Flinner's path. Flinner spun, bringing out the caution. Being a Flinner, he assumed that the contact was intentional (except when he and dear old Uncle John initiate it), and pulled some antics on Norris while the cars were lining up for the re-start. So, he got the hook, deservedly so.

The 410's handled the track way better. Brandon Spithaler, Flick, Dale Blaney and Trey Jacobs were clinical in their collective approach.

They only start 20 cars because many years ago a driver pissed and moaned about top end payout and got some other top end drivers to bitch piss and moan too.

They "the track owners then" fixed it by taking away 4 back end payout spots and putting the money up top.

Thats basically correct. But it also had something to do about tire rules also. I think (if memory serves, and it isn't what it once was), it was when Lernerville adopted the WoO switch to Goodyear tires. Remember, back then the track was owned by WRG which owns the WoO's. That's what lead to the complaints about the purse. The resultant 20 car fields were Gary Risch, Jr.'s Band-Aid on a head wound way of fixing it. I think it needs to be revisited.

Sorry  Bedford does at $2200.00 to win Latemodels weekly!

True, but Bedford only has to pay one top tier division. Lenerville stepped up for all four divisions. I'm not a huge fan of how they run the place sometimes, but this is a good move.

$50k to win High Limit show!!  Kudos to Lernerville for adding the richest sprint car race ever in track history.

That's what I'm talking about! WooHoo!

Is it such a bad idea for them to switch to sundays and run supers? Gives teams a 3 track weekend  . And dont have to fight two other tracks for them.

I agree, people then point out that most teams don't run two or three nights anymore. That's true. However, if they prefer to run TMS, then they will take either Friday or Saturday (or both nights), off. Hey, it's their sand box, have at it. But the definition of insanity is performing the same task the same way every time but expecting different results.

The only aspect I like about this is that when Lernerville rolls out what has turned in to the crap part of their schedule which is the 5-6-weeks after the Firecracker when they have way too much of Miss Vikki's Thrill Show, I can and will go to TMS.

Huge cluster. Time trialed the Super lates and crates 1 car at a time. Literally waited till one car pulled off before putting the other one on the track. Left during 3rd feature at midnight and still had big block mods, the 5000 to win crate late race and 4 cylinders left to go.

Super Late Model
1. Colton Flinner
2. Jared Miley
3. Ken Schaltenbrand
4. Jon Lee
5. Micheal Lake

Pro Stocks
Chris Schiender
Brandon Connor

28 Crate Late Models, 20 Pure Stocks, 11 Pro Stocks, 10 Super Lates, 10 Big Block Mods, 17 4 cylinders

I don't like time trials, never have. It's an added advantage for experienced, well financed teams. They add unnecessary wear and tear to the track surface. They waste time and bore the crowd. That said, I know it's a carrot to entice fast and popular teams to compete at an event. But it's over-used especially at non-sanctioned events. RUSH over uses it as much as anyone. It's ironic to me that a sanction that pushes this fantasy that every team is equal because of their engine program should have time trials at their high paying shows.

Plus, it was very chilly last night. I have no idea what kind of a crowd they had, but for the brave souls that did go, Latrobe management owed it to them to move the show along as fast as possible. They are not helping their cause by screwing around until early Sunday morning.

#452885 Where to go watch Saturday?

Posted by Skull on 15 September 2022 - 05:53 AM

Not knocking any track just pointing out what I see.

Lernerville $35 to get in to watch locals plus FAST for $10000 to win and have to sit there half the time listening to RUSH spew their constant advertisement.

Ain't been to Wayne County yet this year but their $25 to get in to watch $15000 show to win and I'd expect to see the FAST second in points at Wayne County instead of Lernerville.

... What did the Fast have for FAST entries at Tri City?

maybe 4 cars at the most.

I think the $25 show at Wayne County will be way better then watching the $35 show at Lernerville.

If the shows were reversed I'd pay the $35 to watch it at Lernerville, but they ain't.

edit:  I sure was totally wrong about where I thought the cars and the show would go a week or so ago when three tracks went against each other with PPMS winning the cars and the show for fans.

$35 for this show is a joke. Locals, a handful of Ohio cars and maybe a couple of central Pa. teams. Lernerville might lose their ass. Now, they have RUSH intertwined with their schedule like rag weeds. Why not have a Penn Ohio race instead of crate mods?

#452669 Sprint Spectacular Night at Lernerville: 8-12-22

Posted by Skull on 13 August 2022 - 01:51 PM

Note to Lernerville owners:

If you are going to post a purse, then that's the purse you better pay. Either that or remove Don Martin's name from your racetrack. You people do not have the integrity that Mr. Martin did. Worry more about taking care of the teams in the divisions and the drivers that the spectators come there to see rather than catering to the RUSH propaganda machine. No one who attended that show last night gave a damn about how many RUSH Sprints there were other than Emig, her minions and the Tomson's because they received the back gate from them.

FWIW, it was just as boring on TV. Just a money-making venture for Stewart. Like he doesn't have enough.

#452353 Another Great Night of Racing at Lernerville: 6-10-22

Posted by Skull on 12 June 2022 - 07:39 PM

If someone is held up that long, it seems to me the fans are owed an explanation and they pretty much fluffed over it in victory lane. They had his car on the scale for 10 minutes. If he really was legal, I'm not a fan of, "Well, just make sure it's legal next week." I don't have anything against the guy, but this tells other teams they get a one-time pass on every infraction.

#452287 Colton Flinner or John Flinner

Posted by Skull on 04 June 2022 - 11:19 AM

Thats all he would do to Michael on the track was flip him off.  Then they come flying over to Michaels pit, and say he is just racing people the way people have been racing him, and is going to show racers who is boss.

The incident was clearly his fault.  He just kept pushing Norris down on the back stretch, until there was no more room to push.

Then yells at someone for cussing in front of his child, and turns around with that classless interview.

Clearly another case of someone being "Flinnerized"

The thing that made me chuckle, and I'm paraphrasing, was when he said, "My name is what it is, if you don't like it, I don't give a sh!t". Cutting a vulgar, WWE  style victory lane interview appeals to the lowest common denominator of fans. Maybe that's what he was going for, who knows.
