In Topic: Cumberland to Re-Open

You guys sure are hard on Cumberland. In its heyday it presented pretty much the exact same product you see at 75% of tracks in this area. Which is 50% $hit shows and 50% good shows. Mostly all of it depending on weather, start time, time trials, and ownerships drive to put on a decent product. But even the best surfaces in the area can put a guy to sleep depending all on who starts at the front. As Cumberland went through promoters, the amount of $hit given by each group went down and the fans quit giving a damn. Late 90's early 00's they still could hold a decent weekly car count, but when Rick Jones laid his hands on it, it ended like all his race track ventures do. I don't know if pairing up with Bedford would be in there best interest, as Bedford doesnt light the world on fire with their car counts, and prehistoric rules in there lower classes. Running Saturday againt Knob and Hagerstown with todays car counts would be a death sentence. The area could really use a Sunday night track but with that always comes with the dreaded fear of fan support and car count. Sundays are great for a track if rain washed out a night or two on Friday or Saturday and guys want to get  there fix, but the weekends Fri and Sat both run, Sunday races there previously were always hurt.

Huck, Im with you on most everything, but not this. Let this one lye. Steel blocks are there own entity, and guys who run them regularly have no problems  with this. Id just ban aluminum altogether and never allow it in the discussion. Have 3 or 4 3000 300 to start Super shows and require an aluminum blocks to weigh 2250. Run Steel block specials the same night cause it seperates the two without falsely inflating the car counts. The real issue in the whole topic is the fact that the guy is trying to unbury a racetrack and reopen it so guys in that area have another option, and all SuHoney can find to post on this subject is his concern for the 2400# enforcement. Classic! If i was Bo Id ban him immediately from ever attending an event. The guys gonna bitch either way, so make him do it from home.

Hooray to Dog Hollow for stepping up and paying prize money but their timing and scheduling is just brutal.
