#427795 2017 DuBois Mall Race Car Show

Posted by animalgfx on 05 January 2017 - 02:55 PM

As it stands there is a $25.00 fee (The malls fee) to register for the mall show. ( I don't care for that and I am working on several optionst at the moment)

I would like to have a meet the drivers night the Friday night of the show.

I will have more details available next week as well as registration forms..

Tentative Date would be March 27-April 2 but that needs to be finalized with the mall  administration.

Sounds like they should just combine the two.. I know what a couple guys are running in their pure stocks.. And it's more engine I've ran in my Ss

This is the Big Clearfield track... It's actual size is almost identical to Pittsburgh.. When they switched it back to dirt for a few years they made it a large 3/8 with an odd configuration.. Because of the size of the turns guys barely lifted.. they almost raced a circle..

I would LOVE to see someone buy it and make it dirt again.. BUT the reality of this area is.. The economy is terrible.. And to operate this track, any track, but this track especially it is going to take someone with.. Deep pockets and passion to do it..

It could be everything that any of the "Name" tracks are, and in its day (Coal industry boom) it did draw names.. The very best thing this track has going for it Is the viewing.. There is not a bad seat in the house and the hillside parking allows people to hang out in a really relaxed environment where you are not elbow to elbow with other spectators..

When Russell operated it as a dirt track.. He did run several large money shows and it brought outsiders (Big Names) Yes Bloomquist was there once.. Won.. Destroyed everyone.. If rumors are true.. He was payed to be there.. and took the winnings home too.. That would have been the same week that he won the Firecracker..

I LOVE this place but I am not getting my hopes up.. The amount of times this track has opened and closed coupled with the amount of times (Hidden Valley/Gambles/AMP) have opened and closed has put a TERRIBLE taste in potential advertisers mouths..

Back when Jeff Taylor was going to open AMP he had meetings for each class separately and had allowed a certain amount of time for each... I told him you don't have near enough time for the two stock classes.. And.. He didn't... Thats fear for this. If they do have a meeting.. This has everyone all stirred up.. I have a buddy who just posted 2 cars for sale because he's sick of it..

I had a talk with a couple fellow SS racers in the past couple days.. And they agree that this or that should not have been allowed into the class... But that stuff is there now... How do you real it back without upsetting the guys that are there and that have continued to support the class? No matter what happens not everyone is going to be happy.. And no matter what happens if you leave the rules meeting it will get out of hand just like this post.. Everyone has their own ideas and they are the only ones that are right..
My opinion on our class is this.. Put a leash on them now.. There's not really much left you can do before they become clip cars or "chassis" cars..
Adjust a few minor things to allow cars from other places to come.
There's no "magic" rule that makes us all even.. There's always going to be some team who can outspend you.. There's always going to be that driver who can straight up outdrive anyone.. There's always going to be that one chassis that seems to be the "one".
If you been in racing for any amount of time you should know this.. If you don't.. Your head is in the sand, or up your butt..
I'll be there with my car next season.. Built to whatever the rules and my budget allows... If I can't compete then it's time to reevaluate my racing program not everyone else's!!

#412387 Car counts

Posted by animalgfx on 29 August 2015 - 02:40 PM

We beat this topic to death... It is about rules and it is about money.. BUT!!!
I have spent countless hours researching and doing homework to be as fast as I can possibly be with minimal money.. And I'm telling you if you were to ask my engine builder.. There are pure stocks that had WAY better engines than mine... We didn't set the world of fire.. But we were always a top ten car and a regular top 5 car..
I heard it said today that VSI set the bar high for the money they were spending.. He was right they did.. And it has scared people off from this class.. The "steel block" class is just that steel blocks.. There's NOTHING else different.. Mike Blose has an Alum engine and Charlie Powell is every bit as fast or faster.. My point is.. It goes back to what I was saying about doing your homework.. If your street stock doesn't complete.. Do your homework! Cut and weld and build what you can.. If you know you are gonna run with and upper class swallow your pride and drop back.. If you're in this because of the money... You are sure as heck in it for the wrong reasons...Research what you can on shocks and springs there's tons of info out there for the taking.. I agree the stock classes have gotten out of hand.. But complaining here does nothing.. Talking... TALKING one on one to track officials at least gets your point expressed.. I've already talked with a couple drivers and track officials about having a meeting about our SS class.. Hopefully it happens.. BUT!! again BUT.. It isn't just about street stocks.. It's about all classes.. It is about the economy and the price of things.. Tires are more, gas is more, track admission..
Crates aren't the answer.. Look at the uproar they have created at Lernerville.. BUT they may be part of the solution if implemented correctly.. Not one of us has all the answers.. But it's gonna take give and take on both racers and tracks sides to make it better..

#395347 Fab Four Quick Results 8.1 - Rex King Jr. continues to reign over Diehl Mods

Posted by animalgfx on 08 August 2014 - 01:42 PM

Well you may think you know the whole story but you were late to the situation. I was back in the pits with my son on Friday night and witnessed the uncle of 20j, Robert McCall I believe, at the c33 car before he was even out of the car. My little boy and I witnessed the man up in Corey's face, poking him in the chest and yelling profanity at him and threatening to kill him.

The c33 crew mind their business week after week. But not the 20j crew. It's happened multiple times this year. The WHOLE family and crew act like white trash, therefore that's how I perceive them.

Look, Never claimed to know the "whole" story... and the longer this goes back and fourth it gets no where... The situation I've addressed was Jim and Corey on the track..... Back to what you said before... Everyone has their opinion...

I don't know Corey or You from Adam, If I were introduced to either of you tomorrow.. I'd be man enough to look you in the eye and shake your hand AND I'd be man enough to tell Corey I thought what happened on track was a boneheaded move... Just like I told Jim what happened in the heat was a boneheaded move..

But the trash comments.. its obvious you want to make sure this is as personal as possible.. and to you it may be.. That's your business..

Enjoy the rest of the season..

#392967 Street Stock Class

Posted by animalgfx on 29 June 2014 - 02:29 PM

We talked about something like this a couple years ago with the tech man at Hummingbird... One of the biggest fears was one of these full frame cars hitting a chassis car..

I agree our street stock class is out of hand... But combining a late model chassis class and stock frame class I fear would get somebody hurt..
