In Topic: Cold Weather - Blown Engines

24 October 2013 - 05:30 PM

There is a huge difference down south, the air isnt as dry as the north, besides that if you are at the winternationals chances are you have a spare engine with you,and alot more money involved, It is touchy if you are running all aluminum tho, but like rocky said take steps to protect, its a gamble.

I wondered about this since I have been in both places several times. There is not nearly as much difference in the humidity as one might think. Links are provided for verification.

Pittsburgh in October: LINK>>
Humidity

The relative humidity typically ranges from 47% (comfortable) to 91% (very humid) over the course of a typical October, rarely dropping below 30% (dry) and reaching as high as 100% (very humid).

The air is driest around October 24, at which time the relative humidity drops below 55% (mildly humid) three days out of four; it is most humid around October 1, rising above 87% (very humid) three days out of four.

Now that I think of it I been to east bay a few times when it was the same temps lol!

Agreed!

I think this is pretty much what the weather forecast looks like for all of the winter racing at East Bay, Volusia, Bubba's or Golden Isles. And teams and fans continue to make the long trip South so they can enjoy the racing. The same can be said about Syracuse in October.

Spring weather tends to be even more unpredictable. An event like this can't be scheduled while points racing is going on.

Every time I have gone to the Steel City Stampede it was well worth the travel. But that is just me! JMHO! Don't like it -- don't go! It doesn't get much simpler than that!

What this board really needs is a "Whine Cellar" section. Then a lot of this silliness can be funneled into there. Then folks can have there own place to complain about the color of the hot dog wrappers! LOL!

Seriously, it seems like some people have no real purpose in their lives. That is a sad state of affairs!

17093 and bf292 both registered on the same day.

My guess is it's the same TROLL just trying to stir the pot!

Just ignore and maybe it will go away! Probably not though!

In Topic: How many classes should a track run?

19 June 2013 - 10:39 AM

Four is probably a good answer but not necessarily the only option.

A better question/poll would be, "How long should a show last?"

I am a firm believer that the show should be complete within 3-4 hours from the time the first green flag waves. Humans only have a certain span of time before they lose focus and concentration with entertainment. That's not my idea, it's a well documented fact. Certainly, there will be exceptions when the show might run longer. But, the norm should be 3-4 hours. Period! Younger fans start getting bored after 2-3 hours. And we wonder why they are attending other activities?

If a track can fit six classes in that 3-4 hour time span, then it will work out. No one will be complaining about the "premier" division running last!

Time limits on heats and features need to be enforced. Two spins and your out needs to be enforced. Stop running six laps before throwing the green at the start of a race. Stop wasting time getting cars lined up during yellow.

Keep the fans entertained and they will come back!

JMHO,
Joe
