#445550 Clinton Co. Nittany 50 Cancelled!

Posted by GEARHEAD on 05 October 2019 - 10:39 PM

My point exactly. Everyone thinks their going to get all these cars. Where they coming from? Most local guys do not attend the touring races. So where are all these cars going to come from to make up the field this weekend?

Yeah, it's a shame there wasn't a full field of supers. They only needed 2 consis.

#444990 Garrett Paugh Wins the Miley Rumble Tonight at PPMS

I give Mollick a lot of credit...he could have shut the door on Paugh coming out of 2 on any of those restarts but he didn't. Like Danny said, I'm sure Mollick didn't know if Paugh was beside him or not but he always assumed he was and left the door open instead of taking a chance on wrecking them both.

#444102 High temperatures postpone Prelude to the World Championship to August 24th

Posted by GEARHEAD on 17 July 2019 - 07:46 PM

Very smart move. Hopefully the local tracks will follow suit as it is pretty dangerous for a driver to be subject to those temperatures in a fire suit want extended period of time.

These tracks need to take advantage of any weekend that it's not raining at this point. It's summer. It's always hot in the summer.

Do they go by a time limit, or laps ?

Races are 7 minutes.

#441344 $10,000 to-win Bill Emig Mem. for RUSH LM Tour to join w/ WoO LM at Lern...

Gearhead is dating a Super Model!!!   seriously 94.3,  he travels to a lot of and tracks his opinion should be respected,  however, he dislikes L'ville for some reason.  And that's OK.  I go to a few tracks myself and I find the surface and the racing at L'ville above average.  But it could be a very special place.  Some decisions there  i wonder about. but it's closer than Illinois.

I miss the days of Ouch prepping Lernerville back when it had a cushion. Lernerville has never been the same since he left. It's the same situation with Hagerstown and Randy Grove. He was one of the best, and now Hagerstown is terrible. Sharon has new clay put down, but their prep for the Lucas race was an absolute joke. No racetrack should use a roller that much. Ever. Raceway 7 was one of the best tracks in the country, now they made the track so narrow nobody can pass. It's a real shame. At least Port Royal knows what they're doing. Clinton Country is very impressive too. But the list of properly prepped tracks in PA/OH/WV is a short one. Attica is always good. Ohio Valley Speedway too. Tyler County is always fun too, of course.

Everyone was complaining about the race in Quebec its too far why isnt there any big races around here blah blah blah. Then they announce that they are having a huge race at Lernerville and now we are mad about that. Racers and race fans will literally complain about anything and everything.

It should be a stand-alone event, not added to a show that the poorly-prepped racing surface already can't handle.

You ever hear of the Boone Speedway IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals??
They get over 800 cars in various divisions for that race!
Their track prep is second to none!!

This is how track prep is done!

#438508 New bonuses added to PPMS ULTIMATE NE events

Posted by GEARHEAD on 01 July 2018 - 03:03 PM

Jared would have probably stayed at Tyler County if it wasn't for him being the ultimate Series points leader

I highly doubt he would have missed the celebration for his family's 50 years in racing that happened before the race.

On another note the track was pretty much perfect last night, especially considering the heat and low humidity.  Brian and co. did a pretty awesome job.

#434290 Congrats to Charlier

Thanks to the 93X car for taking out rusty King who was going to pass the 12 car any lap.

Maybe King should have been more patient instead of slamming Daryl to try to get past him? He got what he deserved. Congrats Daryl!

#434163 Admission for PPMS

My buddy lives in North Fayette Township and he said the track is done after the pittsburgher per the township meeting they just had 2 weeks ago.

Your buddy is a liar. Why would they have heavy equipment sitting there waiting to re-clay the track next week if it's closing?

The place is incredible. They have plenty of parking in the lot behind the grandstands or across the street at the school. It's one of the best prepped half miles in the country. There isn't a bad seat in the house.

#432289 PPMS Drops The Ball... Again

Donald "Red" Carns had always loved that track, and wanted to leave it nice as his legacy...with the help of his wife Rose,Dale the Electrician and a few others he formed a relationship with Emma's family that was handling the sale, settled on a price, signed the papers and thought it was a done deal..I still have the files in my computer containing 3 logo's for the New "Pennsylvania Motor Speedway"..he was planning on changing the name back to what it was originally.
the deal was done when the current year lease expired..

on December 29th,2 days before the sale took effect the current lease holders Miley Motorsports.. who until then had not made a move, filed a stop order saying that as the lease holder they had first right of refusal..at that point they countered the offer and took possession of the track after dragging out the sale 4 months later.if you remember the season didn't start that year till May.

sadly Red Carns passed away this past winter...

Gearhead, myself and a few others know what the place could have become..within a couple months of what he thought was already his track,Mr Carns sold 2 farms to a gas driller for over 10 million dollars...money was no object to rebuild the track into what could have been the "Eldora of the East".

instead the current owners pulled off the sale without even enough money to buy new light bulbs for the scoreboard..and you know the rest.

Buttbeak still won't get it. It takes good people to bring a community together to support a racetrack, which is why tracks like FALS are so successful. Red and Dale and the hoards of volunteers they would have had could have created some of that support within the community. Everybody would have felt welcomed. With the Miley's bad attitudes and their "if you don't like it go home" attitude it is simply impossible to do that. And at the end of the day the Miley legacy will be that instead of the Eldora of the east sitting in North Fayette Township it will be more soccer fields or a housing development. But I guess for some people the amount of money you can make in your lifetime is more important than the legacy you leave behind and the impact you have on the sport that you supposedly love. The way the infrastructure is deteriorating now it may only have a couple more years left before everything rots away to nothing.

"Maybe they're afraid of being shown up by somebody who can make the place hugely successful?"
Who is this buyer and why have they not laid the money down????
Plain stupid TALK.

I

Then explain why they would use crooked lawyers to screw guys out of buying it who wanted to make it a first-class facility, only to let it rot away like they're doing now. They would have had a really nice place to enjoy the races right now instead of a dilapidated facility in constant need of repairs. When they leased it they always used the lease as a cop-out to not invest in it. They still haven't invested in it all these years later. Why buy something and not care about its current condition, other than fear of somebody doing it better than they did?

The Truth, in case you haven't figured it out, the Miley's want out. The place has gone thru a decline in recent years nobody is questioning that. A free internet app I'm sure is not on there list of things to worry about. IMO they are probably losing money every week they open the gates. PPMS will one day be gone and some of the best racing will ne nothing more than a memory. If what ever it is that takes over that property I hope the hell they are successful because if not the Miley's will probably get blamed for that failure too. Over the years I have seen that place with pits jammed with cars, long concession lines, a pa system that worked. Why would they keep the place open. For us the fan is why. Maybe there tech nerd will get the problem fixed. Someday that also will be gone and were is the race fan going to go then ? The sport is not gaining new fans or participants. I wonder what the age range is of the people that follow racestud ? 64 here.

If the Mileys want out then they shouldn't have gotten in. The guys that they screwed out of the track had money to invest and had already made plans to start improvements. That was their opportunity to just show up on Saturdays and race and relax.

Let's just say go well and the only good thing the track grounds are good for is a racetrack.

I followed it, what are these facts?

They kept breaking bits while trying to drill. It would could cost millions to run water and sewage to the track grounds. It's an old strip mine, it's all rock. There's a reason why most old strip mines still lay empty.
