Matt,I read all the crying on here every week.I don't know why I keep reading it.I have traveled to many races, spent alot of money traveling, eating camping, etc.,but I feel like the racing at PPMS is second to none.In the long run it is much cheaper & I think the racers who support the track all season long deserve a chance to win & keep the money in our region.I'd just like to thank you for having such a great race track in this area & for putting up with all this crap on here.If you didn't care, you would'nt be on here & trying to please everyone.I'd just like for you to know that a lot of us appreciate what you do.Thanks! Here is the approach we are taking with our special events. They are designed to attract some of the best cars in the region paying some of the best purses in the region, with the prize money usually staying in the region to promote regional racing. Not eveyone can afford to travel. Admission prices are commensurate with the purse being offered. The two day grandstand and pit prices are the same as 2011, no increase. All Saturday only feature event purses are significantly increased with the Supers leading the way at $10,000, while we continue to build the Sprints & Mods, which will be $3000. Pro Lates are holding at $2000, with some pending sponsors that may take that purse higher...stay tuned...while Sportsman are at $1000.
Spin it any way you want, its America! FACT: Five of the best divisions in the area are running for some of the largest purses offered other than National Events. National events are cool to watch, but most often the big purse money gets hauled out of the region.
The old add up my costs and I can't afford to race deal applies to every race night, racing IS expensive!...you won't get it to add up, it doesn't! You may get positive some nights, highly unlikely to go positive for the season, been there done that for 42 seasons...and I would not change a thing, 3 generations of the family at the Speedway on a Sat night, PRICELESS! Some folks have golf, we have racing, neither make money - golf outing I went to today was $100, plus transportation, plus greenies, plus new golf shoes so I didn't fall on my butt on the wet course - I think they over watered it! I'd rather be racing!
Despite the higher prices at a much much much higher purse event your probability of a positive return as a racer is much higher at the Pittsburgher than most weekly shows.
Do weekly racers really pay for every team member? If you do and every team member isn't in the shop all week busting their butts to make you faster and finish in the money shame on you - you are wasting your money. In my day we all paid our own way to help out the race team and the team usually bought some refreshments! Guess times have changed on that too! If you are paying for your own family that's a whole different deal, great if you can afford to pay for entertainment for the whole family. Way back in my day everyone in the family got a job and paid their own way.
My opinion is these deals which are the best the region has to offer for racers and fans will continue if they are supported by racers and fans. Pretty simple really, race or watch the same old stuff week in and week out or see some of the best racing in five of the best divisions the region has, on one of the fastest tracks in the country that has produced some of the best racing in the country in every division that has raced in 2012. No, Scott Bloomquist won't be there to haul the hard earned Western PA money to Tennessee, the money will get to stay at home with some great regional racers in 5 great divisions, many who will get the biggest win of their season and possibly their career...but they probably are not reading this...they are getting ready to win the 24th running of what now is tagged, The Tri Star Pittsburgher! It's a five star deal in my mind! Super Lates, Winged Sprints, BRP Mods, Pro Lates (FASTRAK or EDGE legal), & Sportsman!
Five new regional Pittsburgher Champions will be crowed September 15, 2012, be there to feel the excitement!

You know, racing wasso much better yearsago. You wentto the track, did the best you could, settled your problems there & wereall friends the next time out.We didn't need a race studs thing(which would be great if it were used right.Everybody gets on here & cries ths blues, cuts down on everybody all the time & a lot of it comes from the grandstand from a bunch of people who don.t have a clue.Guess we had it made & didn't know it.Anyway,I've had enough of this.4 limited late features, 1 late model b main and a bunch of heat races mostly in limited late but a couple in late model. But honestly I know not even you are stupid enough to think that is relevent. Who are these cars that I wrecked ?? And better question how many years ago was this ? Being a flinner fan must be a lot like those die hard jen pulver fans who think hes still a top 145lb fighter... It doesnt matter if that clown has won zero races or 5000 and you know it. There is not a person alive who considers John Flinner a clean respectful driver and you know that. There probably isnt even a single car in the pits on a weekly ppms or lerverville show that flinner hasnt intentionally stuffed into the wall. The bottom line isnt about who won what or who didnt win what The man child drove into turn 3 and never lifted and never attempted to turn he drilled me square in the drivers door then cut hit wheels to the right and held it to the floor untill we hit the wall even once we hit the wall he still didnt lift. That is an undisputed fact, I guarantee he probably laughed about it the whole way home and told the story just as I did. The dude should be embarassed to allow a hard working highly respected business man like jonny johnshon to invest his hard earned money in a car only to take it out there and repeatedely beat it off of the wall and hold the pedel down till either the engine blows or the tires go flat. Yet every week he does the same thing, most guys when they realize they dont have a winning car that night they focus on driving it straight and getting as many positions as they car with out tearing the car up, but not him. I cant respect a guy who basically spits in the face of his car owner and the guys who work on the car week after week for no reason by going out there and tearing panels off and blowing motors. Now beating your car off the wall lap after lap is one thing but when you start purposely trying to crash other cars that is a whole different level. To try and make this conversation about anything other than that would take an obamaesque liberal. What ever the fact still remains im going out there to try and win this week just like I trIed to last week. And like a sane rational person if i realize the car isnt quite right i will run 51 laps as fast as the car will go without wrecking into anyone or anything and i will come back and try again the next week. Every race track in america would be better off if all of the drivers took the same approach..
