I never bought one assembled, but have bought parts to build them several times from Quick. I won't use their full spools std or LW again. I clipped the wall at Sharon, not even really bending the wheel, and the spool cracked where the axle splines go in. Their Ace gears, esp the LW option, are worth the money and wear well.
I think the spools I found afterward were from National Drivetrain and were made in Italy. I think Quick's cheaper ones are Chinese.
Buy a magnetic base and good dial indicator. Couple straight edges and depth mics and build them yourself. It's not that hard and the tools to set them up right can be had for $100-$150. Spool, gears and bearing set are about $300-$350. I've always thought racers should learn to setup their own, saves money and keeps ya racing when something happens on Thursday at midnight, just fix it yourself.
