While all of you are entitled to your opinions, which are just that opinions....lets not misconstrue facts.
All this talk is just that...talk! You all have the right to analyze the business of racing how you choose but most of you are not and do not have access into the personal finances of any of these teams
And you most certainly do not have access into mine, TBR, RKR etc.
Let me explain this to you. Its simple, All racers want a paycheck. Not one racer goes to the track not wanting a return on his investment. Not one racer goes to the track not wanting to collect the checkers. It is no ones business how one driver or the other sets his/her goals or where they choose to race to collect that paycheck or if they choose to build a racing business by collecting pay for set-ups, body Work etc. for other racers. Call it cherry picking if you must, but if you had the opportunity to collect a higher percentage paycheck on the local racing level or lower percentage paycheck on the national level ( based on pre-race investment including costs & time) ....which one would you choose?
Ive seen and read what some of you assume goes on in our Personal backyard and amongst other Racing Teams Garages who have created an internal race business off of the track.
While I dont care what you assume we do or what other Teams do or what you think we spend or whom we pay for their services, Id like to enlighten you on your assumptions.
We are not a big budget team, I dont know how you define Big Budget?? Our cars are housed at home. Our cars are worked on and maintained at home. When we unload our car at the track it comes out of our simple Dodge Ram And Trailer. Our cars are set up weekly and scaled by the driver, Crew Chief and crew. Do we get help, have we paid for help and are we associated with a Team yes. That help is mainlyset up and buildhelp in the off season and in the event of bad racing luck during the season. With plenty of free advice and guidance throughout the season along with camaraderie and friendship. I just dont get how you can constantly criticize one particular or another Race Operation that chooses to charge others for their own labor and knowledge. They are not the only Race Team or Business operators that do this... their are Teams on the WoO Level, Lucas Level etc. that also run a racing business by charging for their services to other drivers. There are drivers on that level and every level who do and have cherry picked as you call it. Do any of you get up every weekday morning and go to work for free? Or would you go to work for free? I seriously doubt you would and youd probably laugh at the thought. Its also not your given right to say how any driver or team should put food on his table or pay his bills.
The personal attacks really do get out of hand and Id be remiss to say that I havent been bothered by them....its not going to affect how or where anyone is going to race and I seriously doubt it has or will affect any racers choices.
No matter how much you have to say, or what you assume, or what you think should happen, or where you thing a driver should race....you are simply not going to ever manage a drivers personal choices or finances, that is unless you are in the SEAT.
That being said, We all want you to enjoy Racing, Support your Favorite Drivers And Support your Local Tracks no matter who or where they are. Fill the Stands and Cheer! Just leave the personal attacks out of it.
