K-C Classic this weekend Oct 1-2-3

28 September 2009 - 10:39 PM

1st Annual DTWCup Late Model Classic this Weekend Oct. 1-2-3 Driver Entry list impressive and growing Bob LeMaster Classic to Dirt Cup Classic By Scott Wolfe CHILLICOTHE, OHIO- The clock is counting down for the inaugural event of what is to become an annual showcase racing extravaganza at Jeff and Vicki Schrader's K-C Raceway October 1, 2, and 3. This coming weekend’s Dirt Track World Cup Late Model Classic, dubbed “The Classic”, will pay out nearly $175,000 in prize money over the three days with the Late Model $20,000-to-win feature the main attraction. An added bonus could provide the winner with a $60,000 first prize. The 410 Super Sprints will run for $2,500 to win and the Advanced Services Modifieds $3,000 to win. Top entries include Eddie Carrier, Jr.; Bart Hartman, Shane Clanton, Tony Knowles, 2009 Champion Delmas Conley, R.J. Conley, Rod Conley, Corey Conley, ,Vic Hill, D.J. Miller, Coleby Frye, Josh McGuire, Brandon Kinzer, and Keith Berner. Either because the event is the last O’Reilly All-Star point night or through verbal commitments such drivers as Boom Briggs, Rob Blair, Jared Hawkins, Paul Howard, Donnie Moran, Tim Dohm, Barry Doss, Ben Atkins, Greg Oliver, Austin Hubbard, Jared Miley, Jason Covert, Alex Feree, Matt Lux, Davey Johnson, Rick Aukland, Doug Drown, Jason Montgomery, and John Mason are expected to be on hand. Several other entries were on hand, but not yet processed at press time. A couple sanctioned drivers have indicated they will be on hand, but because of moral commitments cannot put their name on the marquis in pre-race material. This comes in addition to the red-hot contingent of K-C regulars and track champions from throughout the Ohio-Kentucky-West Virginia area. Additionally, a boat-load of modified entries have crossed the desk of owner Jeff Schrader as the open wheelers vie for a piece of the bold purse structure. The Bob Lemaster Classic has been the label given to the $3,000 to win Late Model consolation event at the Dirt Track World Cup Late Model Classic. Bob Lemaster was car owner and crew chief on cars that won nine K-C Championships starting with Don Stump in 1969 and 1970. In 1973 and 1974 George Branscom claimed the points' title, then in 1978 the late Dick French claimed the crown. Jim Taylor won in Lemaster cars in 1981 and 1982, then Jack Fink won championships in 1983 and 1985 for Lemaster. Lemaster was recently diagnosed with cancer, but currently plans to attend the event named in his honor. Bonus CHALLENGE $40,000 Late Models will have a Come from the back Challenge for the pole driver who will get the first option to the bonus of $40,000, then if he declines the bonus will go to the driver on the outside front row. The driver of either the pole or outside pole will go to the 26th position and if he can come from the back and win, the driver will receive the $20,000 winner prize and a $40,000 bonus; if the driver makes it to second place he will receive a $10,000 bonus; if he only makes it to third place he will receive a $5000 bonus. Modifieds will have the same challenge, but at a lower bonus appraisal. The Modified Front Row will get the same option and that bonus will be if the driver wins only $1000 bonus. For fans, this three day event of action-packed racing and post-race festive atmosphere is one of the best bargains in racing. A 3-day pass general admission pass is $40 and a 3-day pass for Pit admission is $60. K-C is located 6 miles South of Chillicothe at Alma off SR 23 at Blain Highway.
