I wish they had a pure stock class like 5.0 camero's and mustangs newer strut style.I know of an old timer Late Model driver that drove one handed for years.....his name is Wayne Watercutter and he drives on asphalt. Like Compact racer said...the front wheel drive cars are more capable of being driven one handed just based on pure Geometry. Compacts are a staple at most tracks now and have been meant to either allow a racer as another form of cheap racing or a youngster to develop. Look, we have no age or talent specifications on our classes at WRP because it's not about how many years you've been racing or how old you are....it's about the pure joy of racing.
As for the stocks, I'm going to speak on my behalf only here not on behalf of WRP. I have raced stocks in the past and I have many friends that still race stocks yet today. In my opinion the stock guys have only evolved the class as the rules have allowed them to.........that being said, I think the class is no longer a stock class and it's more like a limited late class. Only problem is that they are still on DOT tires and weigh 3,000 pounds. I think for this class to survive they need to take one of two directions: 1. Allow them to run mod tires and lighten them up a little or 2. Take them back to a IMCA or UMP stock or even a factory stock. I prefer option number 1. Even with this being said I think this class has seem the numbers decline ove the years but where thay have done the best is Eldora. At Eldora they have more old school stocks that most places. Don;t get me wrong there are some limited lates at Eldora also....but overall you see more of the 70's and early 80's capero's there than anywhere else.
As far as the trucks go at WRP.....why change what is working? They have proven their existance in pure numbers. Their racing is just as competitive as any other class...period!

My take on it is that is CHEAPER to pay-off two lesser classes for less than you can pay-off one fast and more entertaining class. As far as mini sprints, i could do without them. Put midgets out there instead.
Stock cars and mods helped bring the track to where it is. And they got screwed because of scheduling screw ups among other things. It would be hard to get them to show up at waynesfield, and you couldn't blame them. just my take on this
If you were a promoter, why would you keep a class that can't bring enough cars and fans to pay for itself. At least the truck and compact guys appreciate the chance to get to race when they're at the track. All I heard from the stock car guys was how bad WRP screwed them at the All Star show by moving them in the order of events. The last I had heard, and I'm sure theres someone who can confirm this, the stocks were moved one spot in the order of events that night.
Hell, I'm surprised the stocks are even at Lima again this year, I heard they were going away and being replaced there too. Maybe they'll bring in some midgets to Lima, and let em wrestle in a mud pit in the infield.......or am I thinking of the wrong kind of midget?

I was at the WRP All star show last year and they took the stocks and made them wait until all the sprint action was done and then allowed them to go out on the track it was pathetic. Had i been a stock car guy i would have been mad about it also. It was not the stocks fault the track was messed up that was Waynesfields fault. The track was horrible and because of that they pushed the stocks to the end of the show. I understand why the All stars wanted to get their show done as fast as possible. But for WRP to take the stocks completely off the schedule because of their staff not having the track in good condition that night is completely wrong.
Im not trying to make people mad im just stating my opinion on the matter. I know WRP had a lot of nights last year where the track was in great condition. But the big night for the all star speedweek was horrible and WRP took their mistake that night out on the stock cars.

Gerry, sorry that you agree with this. I am a fan of one guy that races the stock cars, and this one guys brings a lot of fans that just follow him (don't know if he knows it or not). Night of the All Stars was a joke. You guys ruined the track, nobody else.
Here. If you want to beat the horse. Here's the thread to do it.

Just like Rod said, the stocks were moved one spot in the schedule the night of the All Star show. I still have the schedule of events right here at my desk. Yes we did get the track too wet, it was forecast to be a 90 degree sunny day and we ended up with more humidity and cloud cover than we expected. Unfortunately that left the track softer than what it would have normally been and the 3000lb stock cars on 8 inch tires did cause some rutting, so they were moved one spot in the order, so hopefully the track would come around.
As far as them being removed from the schedule entirely, I can't say 100% why. That ultimately is/was Dean's decision and I for one support it. And that's coming from someone who is the son of a former Limaland track champ in the stock cars, and part of a family who's roots are firmly planted in the dirt at Limaland, Eldora, New Bremen, Millstream and others when it comes to stock cars.
Bottom Line is that they're gone and that's the way it's gonna be, at least for the immediate future. If you want to keep beating a dead horse, that's your right, but at least make sure your facts are straight.
Gerry
No one stated any facts that were wrong did they???? I simply wrote that you guys pushed the stock car guys behind all the sprint racing which i thought was wrong. Every sprint guy that was in the pits that night paid $25 just like every stock car guy that was in the pits that night. You guys screwed the track up and took it out on the stock car guys which to me is pathetic. I think its cool your admitting you were wrong but when you wrote "make sure your facts are straight" the facts were straight you guys did push the stocks completely behind the sprints that night.

I do not no why you would critize a track that is bringing a variety of racing action to Waynesfield Raceway Park. What is pathetic is you piss and moan over something that is done and over with. This topic is about the 2010 schedule not all star sprint week 2009
