i wasnt trying to step on the toes of the guys who run compacts all i was saying is that if your going to cut a class (stocks) because they are only gettin 15 to show up then why are you still running the compacts who barely hit 15 each week???? I mean if you were cutting the stocks because of the payout being higher than the compacts then say that dont tell everyone its cuz the low car counts but keep 2 classes (minis and compacts) that struggle to hit 15 every week but never get dropped from the schedule.
As for running the track I would love to do it also but the fact is I dont have any extra money to do it. Dean has done some good things for WRP (mainly keeping it open) but he is also not a very good promoter/GM. I have heard his comments (just like bob frickes) where if you dont like it fine dont come back. And I remember an incident at Millstream last year (i know different track but same Dean) but Brian Lay was pushed by a push truck right into the wall where they go onto the track. When Brian asked Dean if he could please go out and run a couple laps to make sure the car was fixed and ok before the racing began Dean flat out said "no its not my fault." when brian said something else Dean went off and told him if he didnt like it dont come back. Not very professional like
Dont get me wrong im glad Dean has done what he can for WRP to become known a little bit but its time for a change something drastically needs changed at WRP. The track has a lot of room for improvement and could become something amazing if handled properly. I know things like this take money and where they will get it i have no idea but if I owned the track i wouldnt worry about going into debt right now to make the improvements because in the long run WRP could start making money in bunches.
Just remember at one time Eldora was "the field" and look at that place now. As well as Fremont, Attica, and Limaland every track started somewhere and every track goes into debt before the money starts flowing in. People will come to WRP eventually because the racing is unbelievable. But the facilities need upgraded, the food needs to be better, and somehow some way the atmosphere needs to become more race tracky. (i know race tracky is not a word but sounds good)
I must say you are wrong on the Millstrean incident. I was there the the entire time and I heard every word that was said. 1st the push truck driver was one from Eldora and he wasn't very receptive to what we were telling him. This has nothing negative against Eldora........I'm just saying the guy normally pushed at Eldora. Dean discussed the matter with him and he was more cautious the rest of the evening. As for the hot laps......the driver was allowed to go on the track and he did....however he never brought it up to full speed and we let him run about 5-10 laps.....finally to move the show along he was given the checker. He was never told to load it up if he didn't like it. I've personally never heard Dean tell anyone that comment. As a matter of fact when drivers bring up a concern Dean may make an initial decision but if he see's it's not too favorable he'll take a show of hands vote at the drivers meeting. I've witnessed him try to correct any wrong thing that may have happened to any driver. Please keep in mind though....there are some things that he must stand his ground on. Bottom line...I think Dean has done this track well and if he does choose to not run it anymore then hopefully we can get someone else that really cares to see this place not disappear. I swear this place has super potential. As long as it's in action I would love to be a part of keeping it going!!!

I find it funny u were with Dean when he "talked" to Brian that night because Dean was the only one on the golf cart while he was telling Brian. I was walking past when Dean drove past me on his golf cart and i stopped just to see what was going on. I was standing about 5 feet away from Dean and Brian when Dean told him if he didnt like it he could load it up and not race.
Fact is your right WRP has great potential and I would personally love to see someone sink some money into it and make the facilities better and really make the track into something special

yea...you're right, you always are.
I'm not even going to argue over it. I support Dean, Greg or whoever is going to run WRP in the present or future. It's close to my house and it's in my community that my children are going to grow up in so I have a vested intrest!
