Lol .. guess if you go there all the time you wouldnt notice .. hehe ... after watching in turn 1 most of the night i walked up to watch in turn one for a while .. I only had to brush off about a quarter inch of dust under the covered bleacher seat to sit down ! lol .. I loved going and didnt mind the dust .. But it was a CLOUD dude ..just the way ts gonna be racing on sand .. not a bad thing to me eitherI didn't notice too much dust. I was sitting in turn 4 and didn't even need glasses. Not sure about other spots though. I know turn 2 can be pretty dusty as it was for the Allstar show.
There wasn't a whole lot of passing for the lead but there was some decent racing from 2nd on back. Stewart was flying pretty good until he wrecked and Hafertef (spelling) got caught up in it. I know they were 2 of the fastest cars so that might have made it more interesting. Brad Sweet was bad fast all night though. I don't know if anyone could have caught him on any track surface. It wasn't the greatest race I've been too but every race can't be a thriller.
I didn't purchasing any food/drink so I can't comment on that but a buddy of mine got chicken fingers and fries and said they were pretty good.
All things considered I thight it was a good night of racing and I was happy to be a part of honoring Lou
I was pleased with the track condition as compared to the Allstar show. Have to give Sharon credit for that.
Sharon?

Sports
NASCAR star Tony Stewart sign autographs for fans at the Lou Blaney Memorial at Sharon Speedway Tuesday evening.
how many kids do you see in that picture? any adult that got an autograph from tony is a complete loser.
i mean seriously it should of been nothing but kids standing there.

I go there 2 times a year...Allstars and the Lou blaney. Would go more if they ran sprint cars more. As I said I was in turn 4 and it didn't seem dusty. But it's a dirt track there will be dirt and dust but if I don't have to wear glasses I'd consider the dust to be mild

I AGREE WITH ALL THE THINGS THAT YOU CAN SAY TO DEFEND STEWART, BUT TO MY WAY OF THINKING ONE HECKUVA LOT OF FOLKS WERE THERE BECAUSE THEY LOVE THE GUY. AND NOT MEANING TO TAKE AWAY OUR LOVE FOR LOU BLANEY, BUT THERE WERE SEVERAL PEOPLE ,FRIENDS OF MINE, DEVOUT TONY LOVERS< WHO WENT BECAUSE HE WAS THERE. HE COULD CERTAINLY TAKE A LESSON IN CONGENIALITY. THE TRUTH OF THE MATTER IS, THE FANS PAY THE BILLS, IT WOULDN"T HURT HIM TO BE A LITTLE MORE CAREING, ESPECIALLY WITH THE KIDS. THINK RICHARD PETTY WOULD HAVE ACTED THAT WAY???
you are obviously someone who hasn't been around very much or has not seen how tony's fans act up close. his fans are the absolutely the worst and act like total morons, pushing, and shoving, and i am not talking about kids i am talking about adults. take a look at the picture a few post back and you will see what i am talking about. where are the kids? at the back of the pack because some adult wants a stupid signature that means absolutely nothing to them. that picture should be full of kids and it isn't. to all of you loser adults that wanted an autograph next time look behind you and let a kid get his first.
the sad thing is that the most of the people that attend these events have probably never been to a race track.
and as far as tony stewart goes he can act however he wants because nobody puts more money back into the sport than this guy. you should be thanking him as he walks by not trying to get a stupid autograph. He will eventually stop someday not because he is old but because he is tired of being treated the way he is.

I have no beef with Tony, as I spent a whole evening with him in '07 when he drove my nephew's e-mod, and he was really great with us. I saw how many fans were to him, and it upset him probably a bit too much, but sometimes when you are in the limelight, that is something that goes along with the fame. But as I have told many people, a bit of advice waas given to my son about 8-9 years ago that everybody with celebrity status should think about. "Remember son, when you are in this sport, it is an honor to give an autograph"....... Robert Arthur Allison. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.........................you are obviously someone who hasn't been around very much or has not seen how tony's fans act up close. his fans are the absolutely the worst and act like total morons, pushing, and shoving, and i am not talking about kids i am talking about adults. take a look at the picture a few post back and you will see what i am talking about. where are the kids? at the back of the pack because some adult wants a stupid signature that means absolutely nothing to them. that picture should be full of kids and it isn't. to all of you loser adults that wanted an autograph next time look behind you and let a kid get his first.

What the hell are you judging me for. I was talking about what an ass Tony can be. I've seen it with my own eyes. My topic had nothing to do with his fans. However my background with race drivers goes back 61 years, as a 10 year old getting autographs at Canfield Speedway, you may not have heard of that track. Or 43 years ago when I started racing, & am still a car owner. I'm not here to discuss the fans, I've seen drivers come & go, but my opinion is, (Wether you like it or not) that as a Driver we have an obligation to treat the fans with respect. And, not that it's any of your concern, but in all those 43 years, I've never been rude, or refused to give a kid an autograph, or anyone else. I was always honored to do one, reguardless of how my night went. Especially because I remember how thrilled I was as a kid getting to just talk to the drivers. I used to do a little coaching for little league, thats where you'll run into some memorable fans. They sometimes enbarrass the kids. IMHOP he doesn't deserve the adoring fans if he treats them like crap. That's why I mentioned King Richard, because I know he would never act like that, & I respect him for it.you are obviously someone who hasn't been around very much or has not seen how tony's fans act up close. his fans are the absolutely the worst and act like total morons, pushing, and shoving, and i am not talking about kids i am talking about adults. take a look at the picture a few post back and you will see what i am talking about. where are the kids? at the back of the pack because some adult wants a stupid signature that means absolutely nothing to them. that picture should be full of kids and it isn't. to all of you loser adults that wanted an autograph next time look behind you and let a kid get his first.

i saw him do 90% of the work changing the engine in his car at the w.o.o show at charlotte a few months ago. i still think he's a non fan friendly guy at the local tracks though. a few years back at the world finals we saw a elderly lady ask for a picture while he was talking with shatz and kinzer and he wasn't racing and he told her get away from there trailer cause he wasn't there for fans. lost any and all respect for him that daytony dont work on his car.. he just drives it...

This could all be cured by havong NO fans in the pits till after the races.....Fans in the pits is the main reason they do have those stupid ropes up and separate pit stalls. It gets out of hand when guys are trying to back out and you have to clear a path because people are staring at one of these NASCAR guys sitting on a tire. After the race, fair game, but during the races, the fans bring all the negative things on themselves I agree.
I am still not saying it was a good thing blowin off this little kid, but if your quote is exactly what he said, then I feel like it could have been handled much worse, like him saying "not now, get lost" but have you ever listened to Tony? Everything he says sounds sarcastic, I am sure he didnt mean it like that, and he called the little kid Hot Rod, when I was little I would have taken that with more joy than a signature.

Couldn't agree more! What most fans don't seem to understand is that the racers have a job to do in order to supply people with the entertainment that they have paid to see. It would be no different than if someone came to your place of employment and asked you to stop what you were doing to sign an autograph or talk to them. Frankly, I am amazed that more people haven't been injured by being in the pits while the races are going on because they weren't paying attention to what was going on around them.
Back in the day, when Tri-City was a quarter mile, you could only sign in at the pit gate if you were associated with a particular car. Spectators were relegated to the stands til the races were over. After the races, the racers stayed in the pits and the spectators came from the stands to check out the cars, talk to the drivers and even get autographs(for free, not paid for). The management even had barrels of ice and beverages to enjoy for everyone. For us young fans, our "heroes" took the time to talk to us and make us realize that they were just regular guys like our dads!
Today, we idolize these "heroes" to the point of fanatacism. We elevate them to a status above the common man. They still have to put their pants on one leg at a time, just like the rest of us.
Yes, if it wasn't for the fans, the racers wouldn't get paid, but the fans need the racers for the entertainment. Both sides should use more common sense. Was it rude to blow off a young fan? Yes(if that is in fact what happened). Was it stupid for non-essential personnel to be in the pits during racing action?Yes(again if that is what happened).
Ed eluded to Bobby Allison earlier in this post. I had the opportunity to be in the pits at Hickory Speedway back in the early 70's for a special show that featured him. Bobby was still there until the wee hours of the morning talking to people and signing autographs, long after the show was over. Regular guy, talking with regular people!
These celebrities of today are not "heroes". Heroes are those who sacrificed so that we are able to enjoy the freedoms that we have today! Be they military, fire, police or just a passer by who was in the right place at the right time. Just remember that!
