It isnt even about money, its just that there is no way his body is ready to sustain an accident in a late model, and not to mention jumping from a 4 cylinder to a late model is nonsense for anybody of an adult age.

Here's the thing - a young kid can't comprehend the consequences of their actions fully. Granted some adults don't seem to either. A young kid will not fully grasp that taking risks on the track can not only affect families, employers...should an accident occur...they cannot comprehend what it's like to get tore up and spend all week and way too much money to fix a car after some fool chose to' go for it' and race hard for 10th place. Wisdom comes from experience and a 9 year old has none. What happened to moving up the ranks. This idea is absolutely ridiculous and the parents are in too much of a rush. Earn your lessons-take your lumps-learn to respect the sport. Racin should always be abt a lot more than just the heat and feature-that's what makes it so great.

A nine-year-old doesn't belong in a Late Model. Of course that would be up to his or her parents, but to me, the whole idea is beyond ludicrous.

thank you. i have been around racing all my life my first ride in a race car was in 1999 in my dad emod. out through the yard. i couldnt have done it with out his help.

Actually a 9 year old racing a late model is such a great idea that i think anyone older than 12 should have to race go carts and only those 11 and under should race super lates !! How can you say its none of anyone elses business ??? How does it not effect the other competitors and their familys by having a 9 yr old kid racing a potentially deadly weapon ? And by the way the car in those videos is going about 35 mph, the car isnt rolling a half inch in the corners and bryan drives the packing car around ppms faster than that when its wet out ! With all of that considered i think the full lucas oil tour is the only thing that makes sense for the future bloomquist !!!

michael lake has raced all year at roaring knob. not sure how old he is now, but he cant be over 11 or so. forgot to mention in the fastrak lates class.

Just saw these videos on YouTube and knew that there would be a post on here about it... I wasn't disappointed. This is ridiculous!! I can not believe that this is actually going to be allowed to happen. If Marion Center lets this kid race next year against those steel block guys it's going to be a disaster. I'm sure the Fastrak Northeast will let him in their "Kiddy Cup" races also. After a little more research I have learned that during one of the AMAZING 9-YEAR OLD's practice sessions HE TOTALED .... TOTALED that car in the video. Which was a 2004 Rocket bought off of Matt Gaston. They have since purchased a new Late Model from Mike Blose to let him run. While I agree with a number of posts on here about him getting hurt and what not.. I can't help but focusing more on what is going to happen when somebody "rubs / wrecks" this kid? Earlier in the year Bobby Lake's "little guy" was turned by Troy Shields @ Roaring Knob... Bobby Lake almost had a stroke while unleashing on Mr. Shields as he was throwing rocks and raising hell in the pits. I can only imagine what will happen when this kid costs somebody a race by driving 2-3-4-5 seconds off the pace. While I'm somewhat on the fence about how young you can be in a racecar... I KNOW that 9 years old is FAR AND AWAY TOO YOUNG to be driving a crate late model. People make the mistake of thinking that Crate Racing is a "Beginners" class. There are people who take this crate deal VERY SERIOUS and sink a lot of money into their cars. Throwing a 9/10 year old out there in the mix is a BIG MISTAKE.

Dude not sure where u get your info but the 2004 rocket that got bent was discovered to been rotted out in the cross section and colasped the right rail and in the cross bars. When he blew a left rear at the flag stand wile running with Bob Shesley and hit a Yuke tire . Instead of u all bashing U need to see this kid run he is flat out good and o ya take your stop watch . For the record he is just practicing not racing next year. UNREAL

This is no different than seeing hillbillies bring a newborn to the races and sitting in the lowest front stretch grandstand. There are plenty of racing venues for kids, and the best racers come from karts, providing the parents keep them at each level until they win regularly. Most racers that sucked at karts suck at everything they try afterwards, unless they keep spending their way into different forms of motorsports. Sammy Swindell did it best with his son Kevin; other WKA national champs include Brian Vickers and Paulie Haraaka. Not sure what the hurry is to move up to adult divisions; there is plenty of time, and even if it takes you to 40 years of age, no one cares. Just look at the most competitive sprint car and late model racers in the US; most are over 40 and many are over 50!

How many people on here really need to worry about it. All you bleacher racers don't matter. It is up to the tracks to figure it out not you.. If the kid can turn lap time comparable to the competition then so be it. There are alot of ppl that are racing now at mc and dh that are seconds off the pace every week now and no one says anything about that. So WHO CARES and everyone MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS..... It is up to the tracks and parents... He has raced karts and motor cross for last couple years..... Jealousy will get you no where. Ask Satterlee Reed Blose Martin Stile Delano if they care who they race against..... I put money on them saying if he can compete let him............

Amen dude!!! I don't care if the kid is in diapers... If he can wheel the thing straight and race competitively .. More power to em!!! He's probably better than some of these guys racing weekly now! The only thing I would be afraid of is him not understanding the consequences of tearing up equipment... But there is a pretty good chance he won't be the type of driver who you have to worry about driving like that!! Best of luck to the Chase and his family throughout the rest of his career!!

The video I seen he was riding around the track at 3000 rpm max the car wasnt even rolling in the corners .. So yeah hes definately the next scott bloomquist for sure !!! Its completely retarded to even have this discussion.

I think 9 is a bit young but.... let me tell you it would not take much to be better than half the idiots driving in that steel block class anyhow.........they might want to take lessons from this kid and slow down to 3000 rpm and finishing a few races instead of spinning out every other lap and causing a lot of damage and wasting time..
