What about the steel city stampede? Isnt pit admission for both days only $40? and there, i get to watch 11 different race classes. BRP will be there and most likely a bigger field because they dont have to pay the $70 pit admission.

For roughly the same purse too. It's also in pretty much the same market as PPMS, it's amazing they can stay open with those prices.

That's high too, but it's still 15 dollars less then PPMS. That 15 dollars adds up when you multiply it by the 4.5 people per car that come in the gate (A number most promoters go by). 70 dollars might not sound like a lot, but where do you draw the line? This year it's 70, if they get away with it why not try 75 next year? Then its 80 and so on.

Just out of curiousity, you keep mentioning the regional racer over and over and over, and on page 3 you proudly stated that no, Scott Bloomquist won't be coming to take our Pennsylvania money back to Tennessee. As someone who much preferred the Pittsburgher when it was a national event with lineups that included names like Bloomquist, Freddy Smith, Donnie Moran, etc, and as someone who has shown my dissatisfaction with the current regional format by having not attended the race since Shane Clanton won it when it was still a big event, I guess I don't understand the fascination and excitement with the regional format. All anyone has to do is look at the attendance at the Firecracker or the Silver Cup each year to see what brings the fan in. If the money goes to someone in New Alexandria PA, or Mooresburg Tennessee, it's still money in your pocket, and I would think it's much easier to justify to your fan base the outrageous ticket price when you're bringing in a national event.

Who wants an autograph?

That's a very good comparison. The once prestigious Pittsburgher has turned into the Stampede at a much higher cost to the fan. I guess Matt is right, vote with your wallets.

I agree. Its a little easier to muscle $70 dollar out of your wallet when you know you will see people like bloomquist, clantan, lanigan, etc... Dont get me wrong, i love satterlee, miley, babara, but the fans want to see the competition. I would still cheer on the locals against the Outlaws as much as i would on a regular night. And if a western PA driver could take home the prize, then it gives us a sense of accomplishment. More or less how all the fans at Williams Grove feel with the PA Posse.

The other thing, 10000 will attract much better drivers but im curious as to how many. Im afraid that there will still be those "back markers" that cant hold lines or use 8 tires instead of 4. JMO

in all reality no big name will be there. other than miley, satterlee, barbara, geisler, ferree who other than one of those cars will win?? covert and jeremy miller and jamie lathroum wont even be there. they will be at lucas race at VMS. and lynch in sprints will win be half a lap. save money and go to stampede. never thought i would say world racing group is better option but it is. on cheap side 40 dollars a head. multiply be say 5 or 6 thousand fans. equal nice sized pocket money for PPMS. throw in pit passes, food, beer. be nice deposit at bank monday morning. i am all about supporting local tracks. but getting overpriced it is. why are super lates and pro lates being charged entry fee. and sprints and sportsman not?? charge your bread and butter and others scoot for free. it all makes sense.
