Anyone interested in information or rules come see me tonite at the little guy bats at Mercer. Side note. This class is designed to give racers an affordable way to get into the loaded division and is no way meant to replace the 358 or bigblock divisions but instead bring racers into the divisions by giving them a stepping stone to get there. Anyone interested can also give me a call at 724-866-8832. Rob Curtis.

Right now where are in the beginning stages of booking nites. Would like to have a home track that will pick them up for a half dozen nites them get the surrounding tracks to take them on for a couple nites each to fill out the season. One step at at time. As soon as I have the answer to that question I will post it to keep everyone up to date. So far the support has been about 95percent in favor of and five percent against. Those have been against are one that wont make money on it or are jumping to conclusions and thinking this is a way as replacing the 358 and bigblock divisions. Its actually the starting point and stepping stone to those divisions. Any questions please call and if you don't know don't say things that are false. Already happened and it will be handled.

I'm all In favor of a cheap starting class... Do u think everybuddy looking to get into the sport are all die hard Chevy fans thow? I know of a few guys that would run if it wasn't for the strictly Chevy rule... Don't have the money to buy a crate Chevy and can build a ford cheaper that's y we run fords

Why not run with 358 mods and give crates a weight break or give 358's a gear rule?

Wah wah wah, if they do not like chevy or general motors, then they do not have to race it. A brand new 602 cost $3100 out of the box, opening the rules up will just cost money.

Stick with pump gas, hard tires and a low dollar shock and you will bring some cars.

Pump gas and cheep shocks are fine....3100 would be a great $ number for a calmer class

yes the motors are cheap but its the bolt-on parts that are expensive headers, carb, all the lite weight parts that add 1 or 2 hp are what hurt the crate idea. cuz then it still comes down to who spends the most.. jmo

those rules are already in place Plus a carb and header rule. Where casters left the rules open I have put rules in place to keep everyone with the same parts and they are keyed around budget. Gotta jeep costs down to make it work. This class will ultimately make better driver cause it will key around setups and driver ability not who can out money the next guy.

The Crate Mod class out here at Delaware Int'l has had car counts in the 26-32 range for regular shows all season. They don't even get to run heat races (just timed hot laps). It would be great for this class to take off to get some young guys interested in the Mod class out in western PA. It's been the same guys in that class for 5 years or more.

Carb 350 and headers 260. Brand New parts. Carb gives you a good base to have reworked if you move up to the 358's. If you cant afford to buy the parts to put a crate car together then build a 358. We done have HGH dollars in our smallblock car and won the championship at Mercer. Working on making the crate cars legal to run with the 358's on off nites. They lack in the moor dept but have an advantage with the sail panels. Need to get one together and see how it lap times to see how it measures up.

My question here is, in a division already struggling to get fields of cars at the few tracks left running, why would you want to start another split form of the cars? It makes no sense to me when you already have 358 mods, why wouldnt you work on the rules of those cars to make them more affordable?

Driver eligibility rules have been put in place to keep the upper drivers out of the division. The whole purpose is pulling the cars that are sitting in everybody's garages and also attracting new drivers to the division. That is exactly the interest we are getting. Problem with tweaking the rules with the 358's is it would hurt them. The class has a good rules package that needs left alone. They are competitive with the bigblocks now so that is very intimidating to a new driver Plus they wont be competitive until they get lots of seat time . This class gives them seat time Plus gives them a chance to be competitive .

Then stick with it. Everyones situation is different. If you don't like the crate division build your 358 and take it to Knox or Mercer. There is no way to keep everyone happy inn a specific situation. If you don't like it or it don't work for you find the one that does.

I'm toataly in favor of a good starter class I just don't understand how you can say every buddy run a Chevy and now it's cheap... If guys were aloud to run a ford and don't have the ability to build them I would gladly help guys getting started build fords... make a ford crate motor for the same price as a Chevy so every option is open
