Hope amp steals enough cars off of mc that rich has to shut the doors. That is what he wants apparently. Mc is the only track if been to that you shit in in a stall with no door piss in a trough that hasn't been hosed out in .... Ohhh I'd say 48 years sounds about right, has no speakers in the pits to alert drivers of their race lining up, food sucks, you need a dust mask to watch a race without choking, and need a spotlight to see the cars, oh and the payout hasnt changed in 20 years either. Hope rich is happy with running his father in laws dream right into the ground. All the people on this board bitching about amp payout or classes, this man has put up a lot of his money to provide a place to race with 0 return on his investment thus far give it a year see how it goes then complain. Give it a chance.

It isn't perfect, and the bathrooms are one of the biggest jokes in W. Pa., but they put on a great show there. I'm not sure when Dave Potts relegated more control of the track to his family before his passing, but he had a good three decades to do the same improvements you say his son-in-law has dropped the ball on. I don't know what the dynamic was there, and I'm pretty sure you don't either, but wouldn't your advice about giving AMP a chance hold true for the folks that are now running MCS?

No it wouldn't. Because they have had 5+ years to change the place but didn't. Hell WOO wanted to have a show there but rich turned them down, because he was too lazy to do the desired track prep. So as to what the dynamic was I am just hoping that AMP pulls enough fans and cars to make the current owners of mc start to treat their car owners, drivers and fans a lil bit better, and for Christ sake fix the shit houses!!!

Yes, we know. The shitters are in dire need of replacement. The track prep is fine, in my opinion. Having a WoO SLM show would have required a major overhaul of the bleachers in general, and added seating in particular....probably enough to seat an additional 5K asses to the 3500 or so that are currently available. No small investment for any track in this economy.

Yeah, his son-in-law may have been running the race day activities, but something tells me Dave was still in control of the purse strings, probably right up until his last breath. Let's give the people a chance. Other tracks have come and gone that were going to really hurt MCS or put it out of business. Remember Challenger less than 30 miles south of there? It is gone, and the little track on the hill is still there. I don't think that AMP is going to adversely affect MCS in any way, shape or form, either. The track that does have to be concerned about that place reopening is Hummingbird.

I dont see how AMP would hurt MC. Its 45 miles away and draw most of their cars are from Indiana/Pitt area. Its not like the purse is much better than MC anyhow from what I saw. Doesnt AMP purse pay by how many cars are there?

Gee, everybody is being unfair towards MC toilets. Tell me where else you could go that when you walk in you can see everyone's knees sticking out from the toilet? And plus they went to the immense trouble of tacking little curtains up, what more could you possibly want? Actually they aren't the worse toilets I have seen in my travels, however they are next to the worse... :P

I have allways wondered if you people go to see the races ....or just to use the restroom! if you are so offended... walk out beside your car in the fresh grass! Seems like some of you have a restroom Fetish??? It wouldn't matter to me if they never updated the restrooms! Now the Purse is another storie! I started racing at Jennerstown speedway in 1976 for moore money for tenth place than Marion center pays 37 years later! Total Joke! Thats why they get 12 cars most nights! Nice people..Nice track....Total embarrassment of a purse! They will never get any respect till they raise the purse! Just My .02!

Those shitters give the place a uniqueness found at no other track. It sets them apart from every other track. Several of Pa's state parks usethat setup. You could always were a diaper if you dont like to use them.

I agree the restrooms at Marion Center are not great, but otherwise it is a EXCELLENT track to watch a race at. Good, racy surface always, even if its dry-slick, and an atmosphere in general that fells like a racetrack. Perfect size and shape too. From a fans perspective, one of the better places in the region for Late Model racing. Year after year, some of the better cars in the area are there and you never know who is going to pop in there. And with the regulars that run there weekly, it always makes for a good show. And they get 17-18 super lates most nights just like the rest of the tracks around, that is just the norm for this day and time. They are obviously doing something right as they as have been going at it for 45 + years now.

Agree on all points.

MCS has a great atmosphere. I like sitting on the heavy equipment tires in turns one and two and watching the Supers dump it into one, and power out of two. It's a no bullshit program. "Hey, how ya doin'" Followed by the National Anthem, then racing with little or no crap. My second favorite track to Lernerville. It could be run faster, and hopefully the addition of transponders will speed it up. I can live with the bathrooms. I'd like to see a BRP or Sprint show there occasionally, but other than that, it's a fun place.
