Here is looking at the infield at about 10:30 this morning. You sink just walking across the pits, there is no way the track is workable. As far as practice on the 20th instead of racing on the 19th, that is because Jim is giving the racers 2 practices to work out their cars before the first race. Its obvious you guys think only of yourselves as fans.

Jim isn't "giving" anything to the racers when it comes to practice especially when he takes them $25 per person to get in for it!!! He's not paying anything out like a purse but still charging the same to get in WTF! It's completely wrong and if he wants to help the racer atleast give a discount for practice days...

considering how dry the track always is, its probably now just wet enough to prepare a nice racing surface. by the way, glad to hear he dug a hole in the middle of his property to "give us" new clay

i BEEN FAITHFUL TO DOG HOLLOW SINCEI STARTED RACING BUT TRACK SURFACE HAS BEEN HORRIBLE. LAST YEAR ESPECIALLY.. TO ME I THINK IT WAS A GOOD CALL.. THE WEATHER SUCKS.. MOST PEOPLE COMPLAINING ARE PEOPLE SITTING IN THE STANDS... HOWVER I TOTALLY AGREE THAT US RACERS ARE GETTING RIPPED OFF WITH THE 25 DOLLAR PRACTICE.. RACING IS IN BAD SHAPE.. AND I WOULD THINK TRACK OWNERS WOULD DO ANYTHING THEY HAD TO DO TO KEEP THERE CARS COMING BACK.. SPENDING AN XTRA 25 BUCKS TO PRACTICE ON A TRACK THAT IS USUALLY DUSTY AS HELL DONT SEEM WORTH IT.. BUT I DOUBT THINGS WILL EVER CHANGE..

It won't change until people quit going and paying the 25 for practice. That what it took for Jim to put the late model purse back where it belonged. Have everybody show up for practice and sit outside the gate and when he asks what you're doing just tell him your waiting till he drops it to 15 before you go in. As for the surface I liked the way the track was this past year. It separates the good cars from the bad ones and shows you who can drive a car and who can't. One thing to remember is a fast tacky track all cars are fast even the slow ones and that makes for more wrecks and more cautions.

Maybe if u idiots would pay for the fuel to run Equitment , electric bill , staff pay , insurance , taxs and who knows Whatelse , your out look would be a little different but I dout it.

People have said before that its a business. Typically businesses make money or why in the hell would you do it. I don't know the finances of Dog Hollow but even if they are just breaking even its a better proposition than the average racer. Do you really think racers are making money?? A practice costs 25 bucks to get in. Then add in fuel costs to get there and fuel in the car. It can easily be a $100 loss with no pay in return. I like the idea of test and tune but it seems to me to be strictly a money making scheme. And maybe paying the 25 bucks is keeping people away. Who knows. But he could cut the drivers a break and drop the price.

Maybe the prices for practices could be adjusted. The fact remains we still have a place to race. I know there are plenty of tracks that have closed over the past few years. Why? Because they were losing there shirt. If any of us knew what insurance, electricity and other uncontrolable expenses cost any racetrack it would make our heads spin. There needs to be plenty of people in the stands and in the pits each week to make ends meet. The purse is fixed it doesnt matter if there are 500 ppl in the stands or 2500. That is a chance each promoter takes every week they race. I think shame on us if we think these tracks should not make any money.

Keep in mind, regardless of what track it is, the promoter has to pay insurance for a practice session!! And that doesn't come cheap!! I am sure the tracks make a bit from practice sessions, but doubt very much any of them are getting rich!! Walt

At least he offers you the chance to go out and test your equipment on a prepared surface - many tracks don't schedule a test and tune day.

As for the "dusty as hell" comment - give it up already - there is new clay on the track. You are a broken record.

Racing for many of us is a hobby. Many of our other hobbies (shooting pool, playing league baseball, etc.) cost us money with no chance of payback. As for test and tune being a money making scheme - if that is the truth then every other track would be doing it too - think about that! No good business cuts prices and guarantees themselves a loss of income - that would be stupid.

When i see that picture I see two things,One we need some dry weather so they can get the track in shape and Jim is making a great call and TWO I don't know who hunts at that place but they sure aren't doing there job! look at them tracks in the mud! Makes me want to crank up the 300mag not a race car,MERICA baby.

I would first like to call out everyone on this post by asking how many of you people fully own and operate a race track? Because that itself should wipe out ANY comments about money or preparing a track. You people dont know the first thing about it. Running a racetrack is a lot more than scheduling races every week and having cars go in circles around your track. I'd like to call out Tater Salad, you my friend are someone who is hurting the sport of racing. Complaining about 3 weeks? You're the same fan that cries when the track doesnt race and when they do you complain about the racing or the racing surface! So ungrateful! You are lucky dog hollow keeps its doors open to allow people like you to continue to watch and enjoy the sport of racing because as any true race fan, driver or promoter would know that it is going down hill. Car counts low, not as many people coming to watch, bills to pay, purses to pay the drivers! And we have people like BFP92 and I believe Cavalier 13? talking about Jim taking money away from people because he is charging too much for a practice! Buddy racing is a hobby like people on this post mentioned before, IF YOU WANNA PLAY, YOU GOTTA PAY! That goes for anything! Nothing in life is free brother! If you think youre gonna make money in racing you shouldnt be doing it. You wanna know how to make a small fortune in Racing? Start with a big one! Im sure half of you idiots didnt even get that but I'd like to move onto another point. Are you people blind? Can you see the SNOW on the race track? People the weather has been garbage this is western PA, idk maybe some of you people are down in florida or something because anyone in their right mind should realize how cold and miserable this weather has been and to think a racetrack will be ready in three weeks blows my mind. Express man you sure talk like you have a big pocket yourself? LOL get off the message board and open your own track and we will see how it goes. I would say by seeing what you posted that you have 0 knowledge about racing and your track wouldnt even make it through a season. Also, instead of running your mouth on here You should worry about putting some work into that 1K of yours maybe you could gain a spot and finish second to last. I'd like to finish this by giving all of you people a CHALLENGE! You all act as if you can run a racetrack so here, Latrobe Speedway, it is now only being used as a motocross track in the infield of the track. The track itself has grass growing over it. BUY IT! You people act like you have what it takes so show me! Prove me wrong! Its a shame racing has people like you because crying about things like a 3 week delay means you dont understand the sport. Drivers spend countless hours on their cars, do you think they want to tear up thousands of dollars of equipment because of poor track conditions?! Y'all need to put up, or SHUT UP!
