Yes you thought it was a great track! If you like seeing 10 cars finish then it was. But I'm sure if you asked anyone other then Richards about track conditions they would disagree with you. Lots of torn up cars and blown motors maybe if you funded a car you would feel differently.

From a spectators standpoint, it was great racing....I don't care if two cars finished. Much more compelling than watching all 28 cars skating around an ice rink, with most finishing the full hundred laps.

As far as the teams that tore stuff up and lost engines....I'll quote John Bender from The Breakfast Club; "B-o-o, h-o-o!" They know what the cost(s) associated with racing are. If they are going to cry after losing an engine or tearing off a quarter panel because the conditions are not the dry/slick and smooth they seem to prefer, maybe it's time to get into something else.

Your words are prophetic .... You watch the next 5 years how many of the names your used to seeing " go do something else " in terms of motor wear a hundred laps on those conditions is like 250 on slick conditions ... Motors go around a 1000 laps on rebuilds ... Big name engine builders charge 8-12k for rebuilds ... Those stupid ump tires are 165 each ... Oil is 14 dollars a quart and gas is 600 for a 54 gallon drum ... That doesn't include pit passes , busted parts hauler fuel or buying all of the equipment in the first place .... Racing like saterlee does costs 500k a year there will be less
And less people willing to spend that kind of money and they will do other things just as you suggested.

If your paying $30-50K for an engine, and it comes apart after 100 laps on a tacky track, your engine builder needs to go to jail.

Engine builders can't control how the engine is treated by the end user. They are making more
Power with lighter components than ever before. Yes they can make 100% reliability provided their is no user error but be down on power and on those hammer down conditions you
Cant afford to be down on power or acceleration rate
