posted from facebook. Had a great meeting at the track today. Things are still looking very promising! We are pushing to have an opening race the day after the fair and one mid September. If all things go well, we will push for a full season next year from early April to the end of September. We have one major obstacle to overcome. We will need to put new catch fence up around the majority of the track. I cannot begin to estimate how much it will cost, but it must be done before we race. Does anyone have any suggestions on who could do this. Where we could get some donated or who could sponsor us for it?

I would love for nothing more than Ebensburg to reopen, however, if this person or persons needs a "sponsor" to put up catch fence, what is the sense. Alby Lamonaca didn't need financial help. come on, if youre gonna be a promoter, you better have a few bucks in your pocket. especially up there when youre gonna have to fight the residents all the time. good luck! ill be there if the day comes.

alby put a ton of money in the track and the lady on the backstretch bitched about the noise and when they would not shut the place down for her noise complaint she went to the d.e.p and bitched about the dust , i would think there are tracks around that would be a safer investment then to buy this one . just my opinion i liked the place .

I'm sure it's on the Fairgrounds. Enough Said !! Didn"t a certain Doctor, from up that way, try to save the place? Didn't happen.

Why would a person want to put any money into a racetrack when they do not own it? I believe there are other tracks for sale in the area and that would make more sense.

With a half-dozen area tracks shut down, I don't know why someone would want to re-open a track that has been shut even longer. Now is not a good time to open a race track!!! Walt

Complaints of tracks shutting down, now complaints about them opening up. Lets just keep spewing negative hatred toward the whole area sport, so everything just shuts down. Of course there would be plenty of work for the Monday morning crew chiefs among us. SUPPORT LOCAL RACING. Regardless of where. Place hasn't even opened yet, and already negativity. Again, please remind me why anyone with half of a brain would want to invest $ in a track to support the pi$$ers and moaners week in week out. Nothing is ever right

Alby Lamonica won the court case! The place can race if someone wants to promote it! I think it broke Alby financially... and caused to him to have a heart attack! Andy probably was a contibuting factor to his early death! Truly a nice guy! He got a raw deal! But had he of lived and got the speedway going again......he would of went down as one of the great promotors of the time! This is great news! Its what this area needs! We have lost Thundervally...Dog hollow..Challenger....Windber....Latrobe....Jennerstown.....Thunder moutain....Ebensburg.....andprobably a few other are on the brink! I think there are a lot of cars sitting currently because there is no place to race them! I think the reopening of Ebensburg would be HUGE! More then HUGE!! I can think of probably fifteen latemodels that would race there if it opened! This is the single best thing I have heard this year! Now if we could just get Challenger and Latrobe back open! Kudos to whoever is involved! I think its the right time!

Anybody opening/reopening a track at this point in western PA should probably go with a specials only format. Weekly racing is suffering in most places, but specials at every place not named McKean County are drawing solid fields for sure.

Disagree ....Bacon Need a good solid weekly show for fans and racers! Too many specials now! Thats why attendance is off on them! Plus a lot of fans and racers can't afford to attend! Simple formula! Pay a good purse....get the good cars and stars.....get the Fans! Thats how it works! People won't come to see a substandard show and good drivers won't race for a substandard purse! Fans and drivers want a Home! Thats what racing is missing around here! And no creative schedules either! Whatever your divisions are...they all need to race every race night! Fans and drivers need to be able to make plans! Do it right....don't make people mad....and it will succeed! The New Broom Allways Sweeps Clean!

I enjoy a great weekly show just as much as anybody here, but I understand the realities of racing in western PA. From what I've seen around here, you are hopelessly out of touch. Not knocking you for it, at all, but still, you really need to get with the times.

Purses simply do not matter. Marion Center is paying the lowest purses in the area and consistently drawing the most cars. McKean County is paying the highest purses in the area, by far, and consistently drawing the least cars.

What divisions are they going to run? Super lates? Good luck getting cars with Bedford, McKean, Lernerville and Clinton County running on Fridays and Marion Center, PPMS, Roaring Knob, AMP and Selinsgrove running Saturdays. I won't even get into 410 sprints or big block mods, because neither division can support more than one weekly track a night in western PA.

I suppose they could run Sundays, but if they have legal issues, being a good neighbor always has to be number one priority. It sucks for us racers and fans, but it's a situation that has to be handled with some class and compromise in an effort to keep all parties in said situation (somewhat) happy. A bad neighbor is never going to want Sunday shows, because more than likely, they have to work Monday. Besides, I've never seen a Sunday night weekly track anywhere supported well by racers or fans.

And if you're into running super lates, 410 sprints, or big block modifeds as your headliner, you're not going to draw very many fans, and you'll be left with back gate heaven as your weekly show, and the very last thing western PA needs is another back gate track clogging up the scene with 3 divisions of late models and 3 divisions of stock cars, diluting the shrinking pool of cars even further.

Ebensburg needs to be a specials only track. They need to look at other track's schedules and come up with intelligent shows that utilize classes that other tracks give the night off too. For instance, if they were open, a big/small block modified special on Firecracker weekend would have made sense, because they didn't have anywhere else to run.

They need to run a Challenger type schedule towards the end. 3-5 shows a year max. Make the shows big, and people will come, maybe not you, but tons of them will. It's the realkity of things in 2013...

Maybe now that Dog Hollow is out of business.....Marion center pays the worst Purse in the area! And thats why Dog is out of business! Marion is getting the most latemodels because they are a true Latemodel track! Not Steel block! The better Funded Latemodel guys don't want to race with the Steel Block guys! Too Much banging around! I think Sunday would be an excelent day for Ebensburg to race! I grew up with Hagerstown and Motordrome racing on Sunday! And Latrobe did well on Sunday as did Ebensburg! They all closed for reasons other than racing on Sunday! And the guy that was the Big problem(Neighbor...Steel Mill Engineer) has long since mooved out of town! The other choice to race your car locally currently is Bedford! There are a lot of latemodel cars sitting because they don't like Bedford or Marioncenter! I would say these drivers are a certainty if Ebensburg races and runs true latemodels! Chris and Scott Rhodes....Dan lee....Chuck Clise... Shawn Claar.....John Britsky.....Rod Phillips..... Mike Blose...... Sammy Stile.....Billy Eash...... Gene Kain......Sam Gindlesperger.....Decker Sr. and Third Gen.....Doug Glessner...... Wayne Johnson..... Rick Singleton.....Mike Altobelli...... Mat Parks......Justin Kann........Andy fries.......Lynn Geisler(or Pegher) Rance Garlock....... Maybe Clate Copeman Maybe Dane laraway..... I think there would probably be a B-main in the lates every night! As for the other divisions...you allways get 4cyl guys and stock guys! Sorry bacon Bits...I do live in 2013.... and I have been involved in racing for 38 years! And I do konw what will work and won't! Remember...."The new broom allways sweeps clean" And Ebensburg would be the new broom! We don't need any moore specials! Risky for the promotor....and not profitable for the racers!

Just because you have been around racing for 38 years doesn't mean you know what will work.

You were trying to sell a USED motor for 40k. A NEW one, from a reputable builder, that makes more power, can be had for 10k less than that.

Case closed.

well in your list of "true late models" 4 are steel blocks. that looks like a stellar list of super lates your 38 yrs of knowledge came up with

It was originally that, he reduced it to 40. A big block boat anchor for 40k.
