one of the last races i was at in Ebensburg the one lady with us was pregnant and told the ticket sellers if it rained out she wanted her money back because she was set to deliver the baby the next week , well they either got the race in or she got her money back i can't remember what happened but anyhow i just attended a graduation party for this now 18 year old young lady , i loved the place but with all the issues that Alby had does anyone really think there isn't going to just be more issues now that the track has sat mostly idle for 18 years ? someone said on here that Alby died of a broken heart and i believe that was true he sure did seem to love the place and tried everything he could to keep racing going , i wish he would have just bought the house that was on the back side and been done with the whole deal. as for why drivers go to Marion center even with low pay well i am convinced those guys will race for a bag of chips and a half warm soda , they just love the place bad restrooms , poor lighting and all you just got to love the place. good luck to Ebensburg . you would be better to buy dog hollow it would be a safer investment just add some good clay .

It was originally that, he reduced it to 40. A big block boat anchor for 40k.

No.... It was a new 460 SB2 engine built by Gale Powley ! That made 841 hp on Gas and 856 on Alcohol. Only has Dyno time ! Get your facts straight That has all top of the line parts! Such as Sonny Bryandt crank....Jessel Lifters and rockers Adjustable gear drive....oiler valve covers! Ect..ect!~ All stuff you don't get in a 30k motor! My list of potential drivers for there is way short of what I could of posted! Steelblocks??????Only one I know of in that group was Sam Gindlesperger! And that is a 430 SB2 engine that makes big HP!~ You Guys just like to hear yourselves talk...I think! How could anyone be negative about a track opening back up????? You should be happy! You should be on here saying....How can I help!

So much negativity. Even on the facebook page. There is a group of people behind this reopening and they seem to have their crap together. They have passion for this endeavor. Passion to reopen Ebensburg, not Dog Hollow or any other track. Nobody here that is bitching has a dime into it, so why the negativity? If it works, great! Come check it out... If it doesnt, you are no worse off... The negativity from inside this sport is what is tearing it apart... I remember when local racing used to be a family??? Come on folks..... lets support each other a bit and at minimum give each other a chance... It might just turn out to be the best thing that ever happened to you .. ~Kory Shiley X4

Yes, we did have lights. Alby was my father and the stress and legal problems there probably did have a hand in his heart attack.

But I wish the new operators the best. It's a tough gig.

I was NEVER being negative about the track opening back up. I suggested a specials only format, because, well, that gives them an infinitely better chance at finding success than attempting to run weekly shows in an area that barely supports the weekly shows it has now. You talk of all these cars sitting, and well, that's simply not true, and one of your always out of touch posts proved it, by mentioning a bunch of guys that are currently running other places.

I would love to see Ebensburg come back, and I would support the shit out of it. But only as a specials only track. And judging even from this thread, where everybody mentions a SPECIAL that took place at the place a number of years ago, I can assure you I'm not the only one. Hell, I bet if any specials they ran there were time trial shows, even The Legend would show up with his hot rod.

Oh, and nobody wants your wildly overpriced boat anchor of an engine. A: It's a big block. Nobody runs big blocks in late models. They're too heavy. B: The folks you mention built it are dinosaurs, and don't have the technology, knowledge of late model motors or equipment that somebody like, say, Jay Dickens or Chris Rhodes do.

I will be racing a lot next year and like you said only at time trial shows .. Not to defend the guys 45k used motor lol but it was a small block . 4.25" stroke non spread bore configuration so aka a hand grenade with the pin pulled. This was the entire purpose behind the development of the 4.5" spread bore motors, you could still get the big cubic inch and power numbers with a smaller stroke that increases rpm range and longevity.

Over $45,000.00 invested......asking $39,000.00. Lets get it straight! Learn to read! But why are you guys talking about engines???Shouldn't that conversation be on the Classified Board? Jay Dickens....Didn't Rousch Yates buy him out???? Chris Rhodes......He dynoed that engine! Ask him about it since you all are interested! Here is how smart you guys are! There are only three local tracks running (surviving) in the Somerset, Cambria,Bedford county area! And they all are running weekely shows with latemodels running every week?????All the specials track...or the Selective scheduling tracks are closed! There is nothing wrong with specials! But they are not the best option for the local racer! You will find the traveling guys allways occupy the top ten spots atleast! The racer generally pays a raised Pit price...an entry fee....and puts twice the laps on his motor...and uses twice the fuel and tires! It roughly costs $900.00 -$1,000.00 to run a Three State race! I think tenth pays about $500.00! Thats what the problem with racing is! Everyone forgot you have to get %50 percent of your nightly expenses back to continue! Inless your overly funded like the Legend! With the worlds most Successful Deck Business! Speaking of which...I have seen the Legend on track at a Ufo race I beleive at Bedford! All I remeber is the legend begging the officials for a points provisional start in the race! He got it! Finished last! Maybe if that would of been a time trial show?????? Got an upfront start...You Know! But atleast the legend races! The other guys commenting on this don't talk like they have anything other than Bleacher experience! Perfect! I'll only support the track if its specials only????? Perfect! Why don't these people open Dog hollow???? andf last but not least...Walt Wimmer saying opening a race track is a bad ideas....Perfect! Enough Said! Have a nice day!

I think any track should pick up big block modifieds because not many tracks run them and they put on great racing and it would be especially great if a track picked them up and didn't have DIRT sanctioning. That way Kevin Bolland and any other racer that is suspended or being sued by DIRT can race too imagine how awesome it would be for a new track to open to advertise running big blocks starring Revin Kevin in the 777 now they have a headline division and fans

it's HILDO with an H

If i didnt know any better Id say you really like Kevin Bolland....???? <_< I think specials with the Big Blocks would be cool, I dont think there are enough around this area to support it weekly, especially with out DIRT. And throwing in the fact that people dont go out and build a $50,000 Big Block motor on a whim, I dont think it would gain local numbers in any hurry.. Just my thoughts, but I think they would make a great special.. In this area, Late Models are plentiful. That is a headlining class that If you as a track aren't pulling a full field, its your fault, not a shortage in the feeding pool. ~ Kory

Personally ....I would go with Superlate......Cratelate......Purestock......and 4Cyl Four divisions is plenty! And I would allow the Steelblocks....358's .....and Steel Block Bandits to race in the CRATE DIVISION AS WELL WITH A WEIGHT PENEALTY! Its really hard to start any sooner than 6:30 Pm! Too Dusty otherwise! Have the show completly over by 10 PM! And I would sugest either hiring or consulting with the Padula's as Race directors! They know how to put a show on and get it over! I would also sugest time limits in all division races! This track ...if it opens back up should pull cars from all directions! because its a four lane ride from every direction! I think they should just start racing after the Fair... and run every week till it snows! No other competition! Or say till the end of October!

I agree with everything except the Padula's part.. I have raced for them and Im not a fan.... and I am in good company. When they ran Bedford and TVR at the same time TVR suffered.. They have control of their baby (Bedford) down there and they have proven they arent good at working with other tracks rules.. The last thing we need is another track limited to their street stock and pure stock rules which are miles behind every other track in PA and would definitely stop alot of cars coming in from the north, east, and west.. And that is throwing away the 4 lane accessability of the track . They are fine down in Bedford... Time for some more new blood running the show at Eby.. JMHO And from the sound of it they already have the main staff picked out and working together, so I dont think its and option.

~ Kory

Also, allowing steel blocks with the Crates will never work. That is the same tactic as Hesston giving the Crates a weight break, and they rarely get a Crate car in the top 5. At that point you might as well call them limiteds and go with Hesstons rules. 400hp crates need more than a weight break to run with 700hp sb2 motors and be equal. And they would have to be unaffiliated crates as neither Rush or Fastrak would be down for mixing classes.

Bedford is getting good car counts with their "antiquated" rules. Other local "whore rule" tracks have already cancelled all of their races until September.

bedford is running their semi late (street stock) rules from late 80's early 90's (get with it we are way past that) with safety and technolgy oh and by the way if 8-10 cars is pulling cars what do you call 15-25
