I remember winning this race in 1995. Had a stock front clipped semi-late that usually ran at Windber - Ebinsburg - Potomac - etc. Engines over a certain cubic inch had to run a 2 BBl. Used tires were handed out free at the beginning of the day. E-mods and full fendered cars all ran the same class. Someone mentioned Cheyenne Reed in an earlier post. I remember following him off of 4 and watching something break - sending him hard into the wall. The crowd was decent. Hell - Miss Motorsports 1995 was even there to hand out the trophy. We are researching what made the Keystone Open a packed event in 1995 and 1996.
Good point on the gearing. Racers are pretty resourceful when it comes to finding parts (i.e. a 5.13 chunk for a 9" floater).
If the gearing is a bit high numerically and the car is handling good enough to hit the chip at the flagstand, it's a successful experiment!

Back when they had these races in the 90's Clearfield was a weekly asphalt track and they saved up the used late model tires to give to the dirt drivers.Did you notice that in the previous post it was stated that tires were handed out free to competitors to encourage their participation in the program? Better do that again if you want guys to give it a try this year.

Yes, we are considering running Dirt Late Models, BUT we need to hear from the late model teams out there who want to come over and run. If we have enough interest to make it a good show we'll run it.so no chance of adding dirt late models? still think you might do ok with 3 area classes
Also, we are adding the asphalt Modifieds from Motordrome and Lake Erie, but we need to hear from the teams that are coming!
Finally, Tires have been a hot topic and a complete rundown will be posted on Monday (9/30).
Pit Passes will be $25 for everyone.

any payout news yetTIRES _ TIRES - TIRES !!
Not sure that we've had so much discussion about tires in a long time.
Bottom line is ....
If they are legal where you race then they are legal for the KEYSTONE OPEN.
BUT just because they are legal doesn't mean you want to run them on Oct 12th.
Please see our facebook page and the new topic about the Keystone Open here on Racestud for more information on tires.

Whats wrong with 100 mph? I say let em race..If I am reading the rules correct, the dirt cars can run any motor with any carb up to a 750 cfm. You guys might want to consider putting everyone on a 4412. A 3000 lb car with a 750 carb will be well under the 20 second range which will be over 100 mph. When we ran 4 barrell carbs there we had to weight 3400 and ran 20 seconds. Just my thoughts

2700 with a crate motor and 2800 with a built motor. there are variations, but this is the ballpark.dont know if you would get any super latemodels but as far as speed on the dirt 1/2 mile at little valley ny the supers are hitting close to 140 mph at the end of the straights. that track has longer schutes than cnb but the speed is there from the supers. at thoes speeds i wouldnt want to hit the wall at cnb. i hope you have a great show and have a lot of cars. remember todays super lates woo ulms lucas etc weigh 2300 lbs what is the weight of todays pavement supers

Dirt street stocks with a 4 bbl and open engine rules will be very fast on the 5/8 asphalt. Bedford ( 5/8 mile) semi lates with stock vortec heads and a 4412 are topping out at just over 100 MPH on dirt.
That's one of the reasons we're so excited about having dirt cars run at CNB. Lots of power and the challenge of using it handling wise. Mix that with dialed-in asphalt cars and you have a good time!
