A 602, inexpensive shocks and a tire rule is a really good way to keep costs down.

Found you one in Anderson, Indiana for $1500. Older Port City roller on racingjunk.com.

I don't know a thing about paved late models, spent all my time around dirt cars so here is a question for you paved guys. How many races can you get on a set of tires on a crate late model?
I guess that will be a question waiting to be answered when actual racing takes place next year but if the tires are a hard compound and the car is set up right then they should last quite some time just as the hard Hoosiers do for Rush and Fastrack dirt series. Since Rob is selling you the used ones for $40 a piece you can afford to abuse them to some degree. A lot better than having to bolt 4 new ones on every night for the feature at about $500 per set. This sport has to be able to police some rules to contain the costs or else no one but a few with very deep pockets will be racing at all and the fans will just stay home and watch Nascar on tv on Saturday nights.

At CNB Bank Raceway Park, we are VERY excited about this new late model class. Verified sealed 602 crate motor, spec Koni shocks, OEM transmission, used tires, pump gas - taking the costs and the technology out of it! 10 Events at CNB and a Series Champion.

Verified 602 by who? RACE ONE? Better looking into it gentleman. Many super late model teams were not convinced with the "certified 604s" I was present for the late models 100 and no tech existed. I know their will be growing pains for the track and i wish all the best but make sure you back and what you say. The tire inventor, shock charts, and fuel samples are a great way to start. I agree 100% races need to be won in the garage not by the check book. This has been the downfall in the past. If you let them cheat, they will. If Motordrome and Clearfield support this class, (not sold on idea jennerstown will open) purchasing a box stock crate from a dealer is needed. 3 or 5 wins you trade your motor for the track 602. Any legal competitor would be happy to accept a fresh motor. DON'T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKES THAT WERE MADE AT MOTORDROME which has created all this drama. Good luck

Just found the rules. Good luck with the Race One Engines. I am sure Stan was the driving force for that. For the love of the sport look at alternatives or have the Race One Engines verified by others. Start in the bottom end when looking.

Not sure what track you are referring to when you say "no tech existed", but we had Brad Hibbard of RACE-1 for tech at 2 of the 3 races at CNB Bank Raceway Park. Weights were checked before qualifying and chips were switched out. Weights were checked on top 5 at the end and Carb, fuel and top end of motors were all checked. Not too shabby for 1st year out of the box. Mistakes will always be made from time to time. The goal is to learn and move on.Verified 602 by who? RACE ONE? Better looking into it gentleman. As for Brad Hibbard and RACE-1, I have the utmost confidence in him and his verified and double sealed program. However, we have two certified suppliers for crate motors RACE-1 and Pace Performance and we are working on getting a third certified supplier in PA. If you want to cheat - go race somewhere else! If you want to race fairly - I'll see you at CNB in 2014! And THANKS for the Well Wishes!

Good Question. The tires are purchased from a series in bulk, then sorted through, so they all have similar wear. There will always be some variation in used tires, but you are picking the tires out of inventory the same as you would for new tires. Every once in a while a "bad" tire will get thru. It happened at the Keystone Open and we switch the tire out, no questions. If you're worried about selection, get to the track a little earlier than the next guy and you have the earlier pick. Thanks for asking. How can a driver be assured that the used tire he is buying isn't more "used" than the one the next guy is buying? I'd hate to know that there was a chance that I was buying a tire that just ran a 100 lapper the week before, and the next guy in line could be buying a tire that just ran a regular 50 lap feature...

First off I understand some guys still haven't been paid from the last race at CNB? 2. What are the chassis spec'd for this division- we've asked this already. Offsets? Perimeters? 3. Do I have to pay race one 500-600 just to check my motor? Where's the savings in that? It all sounds like a good idea and nothing new- versions have been done in the past. Reminds of Supercup- which is already up and running- only difference is motor- and the guy running that division seems to be on his game.
Joel, I see you have some 602 motors for sale but are they legal?

Am I missing something? Is Jennerstown reopening?
From what I've gathered, it is only rumors at this time.

Cnb raceway you've killed the class before it even started. If its ok to run the open motors with the 602's in the streets and mods why wouldn't it work with the pro late class. I have 20 years worth of open motor stuff like back up carbs, intakes, heads, headers and the list goes on. DEAD BEFORE IT HAS EVEN STARTED!!!!From what I've gathered, it is only rumors at this time.
