So what's the latest on this Pro Late Model class? I see Jennerstown had a schedule on facebook, and saw no mention of the Pro Lates, also haven't heard anything about Motordrome being on board with them. Did the cooperation between the three tracks for this class fall through, or are things still being ironed out?

Jennerstown has decided for this year that they will not be running the Spec LM Class, but have not ruled out running this class all together. We are still discussing possibilities with Motordrome but nothing is certain. CNB will be running this class and discussions have widened to other tracks a little more distant. There are a lot of people interested in a more affordable way to go Late Model racing. So, I will continue to promote this new class and feel it will flourish, but Rome wasn't built in a day. It will take a little time to get there.

The spec class is very appealing. To run a car with that inexpensive and durable engine, and not have to buy the latest in platinum plated bump stop carbon fiber shock technology, is cool. I know I'll be doing my best to promote it and who knows, maybe get back in one eventually... ramey

Please consider amending the rules for the additional items that are not necessarily needed. Do not require and head and neck restraint system as they are priced at $549 for the cheaper version. Do not require a fire bottle system. They cost over $300 for a new one. Do not require the use of a spotter and radios. This is nice but too expensive for the average racer. If you are trying to start a new class, it is best to have less rules in the first year and perhaps ease some of these into the picture the following years so as not to have every one make an investment in items that we do not really need to go racing. I am all about safety but a couple of thousand more dollars to get started, and I did not even mention the cost of the shocks at $175 a piece to comply with the rules is just simply too much and will discourage guys from racing there a dozen times this year.

Have you had much interest or know of any people building these cars? If car counts aren't what you expected are you going to go to the J-town- M-drome rules?

If $850 is too expensive to protect yourself from possible serious injury or even death maybe you should do yourself and your family a favor and look for a new hobby.

Are you the safety police? Seeing as how this is not required at Jtown or drome in other divisions it does seem foolish to put it in the rules. Anytime I see someone make that stupid comment ' if you cant afford it...blah blah blah...'- It irritates the hell out of me. Next it'll be you can't run without a particular seat...a certain firesuit. How bout if you don't understand that their are inherent risks then you should switch hobbies. I am so glad I decided to wait to see how this class goes before entering.

Why yes I am a safety man in my trade. I cannot and will not do my job without any and all safety equipment required to do my job and will not let my men work without it either. I will not get in my vehicles without using a seat belt nor will I ride my 4 wheelers without a helmet. There are many inherent risks at my job sites so by your ignorance we should switch jobs??
You take an inherent risk waking up in the morning and walking out the door.
We have a name for people like you in my business. We call them Cowboys. And usually one of a few things happen with them. They either hurt themselves or others around them, live on workers comp/disability, or kill themselves or someone else. But usually before they can hurt themselves or anyone else they are fired.
If spending money on equipment that has been proven to prevent major injuries and save lives is a foolish expense and "irritates the hell out of you" just remember that when that "inherent" risk comes around and bites you in the azz when it could have been prevented or lessened.

Couldn't agree more some just lack common sense, was thinking about calling about his cars for sale but he probably skipped some welds to save time and money building his cars, or used standards bolts for his racing seat to save $6

FBO - I have to respectfully disagree with your assessment of necessary. If you saw Nathan Russell hit the Turn 1 wall at the Sept 13 race (after hitting oil), you might have a different view of it. These guy are traveling at very significant speeds and I don't EVER want to be the one that has to make a Dale or Adam statement to the media.
A fire system may be the least "necessary" as my first thought was "get the **** out" not pull the pin, but that was because I could get out - if you can't, that pin becomes quite necessary.
As for radios - they really aren't that expensive to get a decent used set for driver and spotter or even add a guy in the pits. With very little periferal vision, significant speed and still a fair amount of money - its better to know the guy is inside you than to come down and have to put a new front or rear clip on the car. My guess is a radio setup is cheaper than a clip.
Finally, the shocks - the whole idea of the spec shocks is to significantly reduce the costs and still give the racer some ability to "tweak" the setup. These shocks have 3 settings so you can dial in your setup, which will change a little every week. At about $700 for a set this is about what the open LM guys are spending on one shock.
I know you have a genuine interest in seeing CNB and the other tracks succeed and appreciate your input. However, I disagree with you on these points. Thanks.

They want to save about $850, why don't you make firesuits , helmets and seat belts optional

Ahh, that was just an attempt to illustrate how some dampers cost a lot.

What did you think of PRI? I didn't know Indiana could get that cold. We had a good show though and made quite a few new contacts.
