Hummingbird Speedway, located in Reynoldsville, Pennsylvania (use Exit 86 off I-80) is adding the 270 Micro Sprints to their card for 2014.

Starting in April, the Micro Sprints will run every Saturday at Hummingbird except, we may not run the micro's if AMP is having a Micro Sprint special. We want to support their show.

Nightly tech will be performed by the Micro Sprint tech man Jim Young. If you fail tech you forfeit pay and season points.

Bubba Racing Supply will have Micro parts and fuel at every race. For more information, contact Chuck at 814-591-7120

Heat races are 8 laps and features are a minimum of 15 (we may adjust as the season progresses).

In addition, we will have a non-feature winner / rookie race at the end of the night.

On most nights, Micro Sprints will run at the back end of the program. Hummingbird runs a set order.

I'm not really sure how many fans this will drive away when they are advertising them as running last weekly. Sure you will have to sit through heat races but a shorter intermission would offset that. I'm not the biggest micro fan out there but Hummingbird needed to try something different. Does this mean that Marion Center is not running them this year?

it will probably drive away alot of fans. but when you dont want to have a good payout thats what you can expect. the place just seems to be going down hill.

Exactly, what happened to the mini mods? This class with their screaming 2 stroke engines are annoying, it was one reason I didn't go to Marion Center when they ran them.. <_<

Marion Center couldn't get but a handful of cars last year and didn't AMP only get a couple cars when some on here were begging them to run them and saying they'd get a full field if they ran them. I've seen nothing official only talk that Marion Center dumped them again. Smart move in my opinion if they did......

first off my name is bill reitz and i know that louie the track owner did alot of thinking into what extra class to try and i commend him for doing this, tell me what other class could have been brought in that will have 20 to 40 cars a week and every week starting out,and they will be racing at the back part of the program, and m.c is not running them this year

If you want to bring in fans and increase credibility raise the pay in late model and allow supers to run and you'll definitely see an increase in car and fan count.

Looking at recent history 20 - 40 micros at a Western Pa. track for a weekly show is extremely wishful thinking....
If Marion Center was getting 20 - 40 micros do you think they would have dropped them???

This is certainly an interesting choice. Personally, I like the micro sprints and I've seen some pretty good races in this class over the years. I like the sliding scale payout system also. Not sure how this class will work at the bird, this really isn't sprint car territory so the fans may not embrace them, and I don't know how many micro's are within a reasonable towing distance from the track. Running them last could be a problem in my opinion. By the end of the night, tracks are usually rough and rutted up, not the best conditions for micros.... Good luck with the new class!

A 602 crate limited late class, they need a class for the ss guys to move into without jumping into a full blown 420 cubic inch late model..

I personally think "change" is a BIG step with hummingbird. Any change is a good change considering the last few years. And there are quite a few micros in the area. Certainly would be wishful thinking to get 20-40 cars. But they are at least making the attempt. I think the better idea would have been to open the late models up. and add the Mod lites. I agree that the 270 micros are annoying to watch. But we will see if they work out or not I guess!

There is a class like that only about 20 minutes away at AMP. What good would come from the bird adding the same class on the same night? Split the field and instead of one track having 15 to 20, they both would have 7 to 10. Now, if the two tracks were running seperate nights, that would be a different story, but I don't think that will happen. Don't get me wrong, I love the idea behind the Semi-Late class, it is pretty much the same type of class that I have been saying this area has needed for quite awhile, but having another track add the class on the same night before there are enough cars to support one track doesn't make sense to me. If the two tracks could work out an alternating weekly schedule for the class, that would be great as well!

The 358 class at AMP is not a crate class, yes there are a couple of cars that run with them but I still think a crate class would take off around here.. ;) Maybe they are trying to work with AMP and that's good, each track could run their own different divisions for better car counts..
