I was hoping they added 4 or 5 classes of mods instead !!!

I don't know they might have to put in another holding pond for all the excitement generated..

I had talked to louie a few years ago on the phone for about 45 minutes and wanted to have a rules meeting at the track to discuss combining the old streetstock class that was ran there when the track opened with the current purestock class ,kind of like a little guys nationals rules package and then anyone wanting in this class (a 358 or whatever the drivers decided the limit was to be set at) and run a 2 barrell carberator and then decide on a set of rules for tire size to be ran something like if you ran a 8 inch tire the car could be 3000 pounds or if you ran latemodel tires maybe the car would weigh 3200 pounds or whatever was voted on by the drivers and then let the streetstock drivers go hog wild with their cars unlimited cubic inch engines ,quick change rear ends , bert transmissions ,latemodel bodies whatever you could think of and call them outlaw stocks he thought it was a good idea until someone got in his ear and told him all we wanted to do was start a big pissing match and have a fight ( i still have the p.m. saved in my in box by the way )and was contacted and told there would be no meeting and yes i had talked to guys who were interested in the combo streetstock /purestock class .there is no use in fighting city hall they are going to do whatever they want but marion center didn't get any cars i can't see Hummingbird getting any .and with the recent changes my car now fits into the purestock class at a.m.p so i don't really care what Humminngbird does now .just my two cents and i hope it works out for them.

WHY SUCH A NICE PAYOUT FOR MICRO JOKES!!!! AND STILL CRAP FOR THE FRONT WHEEL DRIVES AND PURE STOCKS!!!! THEY JUST DONT GET IT. LOOKS LIKE A. M. P. WILL GET THE REST OF WHATS LEFT OF THOSE TWO CLASSES AND ALL THERE FANS.

I know not a lot of people like the micro sprints, rather it be the sound or size, but these "little annoying cars" have proven they can set faster lap times than a lot of the full size classes and they can put on a show just as good as any other class. Hummingbird has always ran fender classes, I'm glad to see an open wheel division get a shot. The 270 class has a pretty healthy car count through-out Pennsylvania and with this purse being set in stone I expect to see nothing less than 20 cars each week. The micro sprints have several high paying shows each year through-out the state, including 1 next October that will pay $10,000 to the winner. So rather you like the class or not, the driver support is there. If you don't like watching the micro sprints then go use the restroom or make a trip to the concession stand.

Like fact they are trying something different. Great payout, slap in the face of purestocks. Pay in that and SS's has been same for 30 years or more.

there isn't 20 cars in this area you will be lucky to see 10 cars there. at least 3 guys moved up to sprint cars so you are losing them.
so now your down to 7 and with blanket hill opening back up, where are all these cars going to coming from.

first off my name is bill reitz and i know that louie the track owner did alot of thinking into what extra class to try and i commend him for doing this, tell me what other class could have been brought in that will have 20 to 40 cars a week and every week starting out,and they will be racing at the back part of the program, and m.c is not running them this year

No matter how anyone types it, it comes down to the "back-gate" revenue...
The best move was to put this class at the end...stay one night and see how many fans hang around to watch...
I personally can't stand this class either, but I guess you know how the saying goes...Opinions are like.....

we have done a lot of work to see what would be the best class that is already built with cars in the class and we have made many phone calls and we have had great responses, there will be a big turn out with this class and with the sliding scale payout the class will more than pay for itself,i believe if other class would bring more cars each week the purse could be raised for them as well

If you want to keep the Super Stocks you better increase the payout, 350.00 to win is ridiculous to pay a class where the engines alone go for 8-12 thousand. I really like this track and want it to be around but big changes need to be made to survive and I don't see the owner budging on anything.. :(

With adding a new class the pit fee will be raised to 20.00 and the front gate will be 15 or 20 bucks . There excuse!! Rising cost of Insurance.

Simple solution to that ... Don't pay that much for a motor !!

i know the pit fee is still 25.00 like last year and i dont think general admission is going to be raised either, plus they are putting new clay on the racing surface

I don't think this is a good move by the Bird. I think E-mods would be the best choice to build a class up. Gives your Pure Stock and Street Stock another option that can't afford to move to Late Model. These regional E-mod series gets 30+ so they are out there. Try a limited sprint class. If you they have a mosquito problem, bring in the micro's for one race and that will fix that problem!!!

Thanks for the input. We looked at all classes. We looked hard at the full size sprints but mercer and amp are running them weekly. So it would of been hard to pull the cars. The emod would of been another good classes but there isn't many within a 50 mile radius(Over 20 emod guys were called plus I called alot of full size sprint cars to get input). Once again I don't work for the track just trying to get the class up and rolling. Thanks again Bobby 814-229-2525

Whatever class they choose, they have to build up to get full fields. The longevity of E-mods will out last micros or 305's, plus they will be the first to run them in this area. Not sure what there weekly purses are, but my guess is fairly similar to a street stock payout. All I know is when I've been to a track when they run them, there are consi's.
