I see big daddy is the race director... However I can't pull the rest of the story up... Can anyone else and/or is there a news link I'm missing?

Congrats Ray... Should be a good time!!!

The full stories can be read on the AMS Facebook page. I guess those that don't have facebook are S.O.L? Anyway, here is the full text of the story:

Allegheny Motor Speedway Announces Director of Race Operations

Franklin, PA (February 12, 2014) - Allegheny Motor Speedway today introduced their newest team member, Director of Race Operations, Ray Baselj.

Mr. Baselj, very well-known in the racing community, has been involved in racing more than 30 years. He is the familiar face of Ray's Racing Collectibles souvenir stand that can be seen at dozens of tracks across the country. In addition to being a respected business person in the racing community, Mr. Baselj has served as a driver, car owner, and series founder.

"Mr. Baselj is one of the greatest dirt track racing experts of our time" says Thomas Organization CEO Michael G. Thomas. "I am honored to welcome him to Allegheny Motor Speedway. His expertise will serve drivers, race teams, and fans alike. In our quest to operate a hugely-successful motorsports complex, Mr. Baselj represents the best of the best."

Allegheny Motor Speedway will soon release their website and 2014 schedule. For more information visit: www.alleghenymotorspeedway.com

Stories now open when clicking on them so I guess those without Facebook are no longer S.O.L. To whomever is following this thread and editing the website, the Credit Card section under A.M.S.- A to Z says Discovery card. May as well fix that too.

We're really confused about their schedule. Shows an All-Star race once a month. All-Stars released their schedule yesterday and only shows 2 shows total, 1 in May and 1 in September.

From Mike himself: Because of contract issues, the All-Star Circuit of Champion Series may only schedule two sanctioned events at Allegheny Motor Speedway in 2014. However, as you will notice, there are no competing events on the All-Star Schedule during the June 15, July 6, and August 17 events at AMS. Mike assured me that there will be a healthy field of touring drivers at these events, with several possible outlaw teams in the mix too. Those three dates will be treated as an unsanctioned open event, but the fields, essentially, should be the same. Remember, these guys are competing for points across the five nights, so the field that you see on the first week should be consistent throughout the event. As the dates get closer, Mike said he would release the names of the drivers who will appear at each night. From the sound of it, you have nothing to worry about.

News Flash. Zero outlaw drivers will be at the speedway on dates mentioned. So please stop the false advertisement already. If you look at the Outlaw tour schedule will be hundreds of miles if not thousand miles difference of outlaws and dates mentioned. Why not just try and have a sanctioned outlaw late model or sprint car race ??? Lucas Late Models ?? Why toy around with the All Star Sprint series. Last time I was at Tri-City Speedway was an All Star Sprint race and there was a few hundred fans there if that.

Dont blame that on the Alltars...

Anything H&H did at the end of their tenure only saw a few hundred fans due to outrageous admission prices, poor track prep, and all the other things associated with H&H

Offering money for a championship over the 5-race deal with most certainly change things as far as counts, especially with what the track is paying out

Keep up the good work AMS!!!

outrageous prices to get in ??? it was no more expensive than any other track. always looking to make excuses for a failed operation. And general lack of fan interest in area. too many tracks offering other options equal fans being spread out widely and another track is not going to solve the problem. racing sunday nights. yippie. over hour drive each way. work 5am equal one less fan. and track was having problems way before the end of H+H tenure.

I would love nothing more than to see the plans for the track become a reality, but after reading about what their plans are exactly, I can't help but to be skeptical. I am not bashing the new operators at all, but to announce in January that you intend to completely tear out the existing track, redo the foundation and have new clay in place and to have their first practice on April 23rd, wow. That is a monumental task itself, on top of that there are the restrooms, bleachers, equipment and work on the grounds itself that i'm sure will require a decent amount of attention. Is anyone working there now? I live just down the road from the track and drive by everyday and I don't see any activity going on there. I really hope that they make a fool out of me and are succesful in their endeavor, which I really hope that they are, but it just seems to me to be an awfully large amount of work in a short period of time. And as far as Outlaw guys showing up, unless you are referring to some of what I would call, field fillers, you will not see any of the fulltime Outlaws show up, they cannot run races outside of the Outlaws without being penalized. It has been proven over the years that teams are not going to line the streets and beat a path to race at Tri City, in large part I believe to be because of the size of the track. I know that is the reason it has cost them some cars in the past, some teams either don't have the motor for that size of track or it is just too hard on their motors running there. This probably sounds like a negative post, which is not my intention at all, I am only stating my opinion. I hope to see everyone there in a couple of months!

From what Mike just told me, they are hoping to get up there this week. We're really hoping the Damn weather will break. AMS also now has a twitter account. @AMSpdwy

dude if your not on board w/ tricity/ams and its to far of a drive for you, just stay home and let this thread be. Good things are happening for the racing community, we need to get out and support them, not be couch fans...

I was one of the few that went to special events at the Tri-City Speedway. I'm on board with reopening track. I enjoyed going to the track. I sure hope things work out. But here we are at March 1st. And weather is not going to break anytime soon. And the track is going to need a shit load of work done on it in very short amount of time. I dream of hitting powerball also.

I agree. Only time will tell. Right now it is on Mike's shoulders. I have talked to him personally also. I believe he can promote the track. With Ray being hired, I do not know Ray at all, but have heard he can run the operations. I know being sceptical will have to come with the territory for AMS. Till it rebuilds a reputation of good will to the fans and racers. Like I said, only time will tell. But I am pulling for them.

Your sarcasm would be much more effective if you learned the difference between then and than.

It seems as if this new owner has a solid plan. I'm just glad he is featuring the open wheel cars. I'll support his first show, and as many of the rest of them as I can if I'm satisfied.
